Fact 54 - Mewtwo Is On The Way [Social/General Discussion]

The only thing I fear is that Mewtwo will be banned or even completely unlayable at local torneys. People may cry out "unfair" because not everyone gets a chance to practice as Mewtwo before the matches. And if the tournament holder didn't take advantage of the Club Nintendo offer then Mewtwo won't be a choice at all thus really "screw-attack-ing" (random Metroid pun) over those who really mained him. This is why I hope NoA follows Nintendo of Europe and releases Mewtwo later as (probaly paid) DLC. That way Mewtwo gets to be a valid contender for such tournaments no matter what (or at least so long as the torney holder chipped in extra cash to unlock the commodity of smashing as a true legend.)

I wouldn't worry about that. I don't think Nintendo would make a character like Mewtwo so limited, especially when they can make more money off of it. It doesn't make sense from a business perspective, especially without telling us you have to buy both games first. Besides, I'm sure tournament organizers would find a way to get him if he were exclusive.

Agreed. Plus, it's not like people won't have a chance of fighting Mewtwo before tourneys. When Mewtwo is released, EVERYBODY will be using him online the first few weeks. That gives you plenty of time to figure out his moveset and possible ways to counter him. Saving replays in the case of not owning him can also be helpful because you can continuously study him. Besides, DLC characters really haven't been a problem for other fighting games, so I highly doubt that it would be an issue for this game.

It will go down eventually, we saw it with Shulk, Duck Hunt Dog, and even Little Mac in Smash 4.

This happens with almost every fighting game to receive DLC. Online was flooded with Zeus when he came out in PSAS(and I trashed all of them).

But it'll drop, don't worry. I'll be in the lab with Mewtwo that day, not online(unless With Friends).

When Mewtwo comes out, I won't main him, but I'll use him when he comes out. Surely you can relate, I mean, he'll have that new car smell and everything.

In all seriousness I would actually love it if Mewtwo was viable in this game, because I like his playstyle.

Oh God, THIS! In my house, I'm easily the best Smash player. My brothers don't know anything about start-up/end frames (mostly in counter-attacks and defensive techniques), techs, Out of Shield options, or perfect shielding. So, therefore, their first reaction when I take advantage of something is: "Cheats!" or "Hacks!" I then proceed to pause the game and explain everything, of which they toss out the window and insist I'm cheating. Then, they decide the only way to beat me is to play as exactly who I am and copy my every move. I can't stand it. Can't a guy enjoy Dr. Mario without having to pause the game every 5 seconds? God...

I admit, shamefully, that I've never played an Earthbound game. I never owned an SNES or an NES, so my first console was a Nintendo 64. However, I like Ness from what I know about him, and I'm also Lucas and Ninten fan. But mostly Ness. Anyway, I could own and play all of the Earthbound games if this were true. And, this collection of all the Earthbound games would be a perfect opportunity to add Lucas and possibly even Ninten back/into the the battle. Please let it be true.

PLAY MOTHER 3 ANY CHANCE YOU CAN. i know emulation is a big taboo, but if nintendo can ********* us by including lucas, new pork city(which in and of itself is a big spoiler. not saying where though or why), AND have spoilerific trophies to mother 3 then id think this may be one time emulation may be a good thing. since nintendos never gonna release mother 3 to us.
and yes, i love nintendo, but im still kinda embittered toward them for ignoring the mother fanbase (and also trolling it with brawl) til recently with earthbound on the vc.

This is true. Also, increased online activity indicates excellent reception, which means more DLC in the future, which means more characters, which could mean... WONDER-RED!
