Actually 'phase' would be a pretty legit tag for a Samus main.

You could be like 'switching phasers to ****' before ever match and then :troll:

fox upsmash on shield;

total 41
shieldhitstun 11 (9 hitlag, but that affects both characters)

remaining 30

wd OoS = 14 (frame perfect)
dsmash/dtilt out on frame 6

10 frame window

pretty small window but reliable if you know it's coming

Marth is such an easy MU....I think it is even.

Sheik is probably 40:60. Falcon is probably 45:55. Fox is even, and **** falco. I hate that character...stupid pressure game. I realized I hate him just because I can't CC his dair...at all.

yea it's annoying, but dair has pretty minimal horizontal range, even if he does it from a dash
a lot of times you can outspace it and fsmash/dsmash/dtilt him when he lands

ESAM gimme some tips on the marth MU
what do a lot of marths suffer from, how do you counter their playstyles, etc.

(anyone else give tips tooo please, i thought i knew this matchup but esam & plup both do better in it)

Well F-tilt is faster than all of his ground moves. So you can pressure him with f-tilt spacing. If he jumps and fairs preemptively (a lot of marth's do to space...people throw out moves a lot more in Melee than I remember) you can run in uair. Grab is also amazing in this match. If they are focusing on ground spacing to combat f-tilt, grab will get them a lot. Dash attack is amazing as well in this match. Normally you can get Dash attack (weak hit) jab D-smash. Edgegaurding is also easy. Never ledgehop unless they are REALLY close and you can fair up-b. Otherwise mix up between roll and attack. Jump will always get you hit, and normal get up has a lot of vulnerability...

If you're ftilting to pressure, all Marth has to do is run up and shield; he can Fair OoS before you have the chance to do anything (iirc he has an actual frame advantage). And if it so happens he throws out a pre-emptive aerial, he's doing what makes all Marths lose anyways.
I don't understand 'run in and uair' either, if he's shffling fairs, or even sh double fairing, you should not be able to hit him with a complete uair without having it punished with an utilt, or having him DI out of it early. At least, I can't envision a situation you could do that, explain please?

I do agree with you that edgeguarding is easy. Idealy they recover low, and you can walk off Nair and trade hits with their upB
I also want to add that Marth is much more limited when you pressure the back of his shield. Usually I'll grab when he's tucked away in his little bubble lol
I'm also surprised you didn't mention dash attack. Works wonders.

You can start your uair early to get the last hits. Nair is honestly better in that regard. At low %s you both hit each other out of your attacks, so don't pretend like his punishes at low %s are so much better...they aren't.

Also ,the run up shield loses to grab or u-tilt. U-tilt is great shield pressure. U-tilt to f-tilt, u-tilt to d-tilt. U-tilt to u-tilt. Shield stun is amazing in this game.

If marth is SHFFLing fairs....platform missile camp him. One will get in eventually (I'm assuming any level BUT FD, even though FD is great for this match). Grab is still a very good option. Marth isn't the best punisher...just don't grab when you are at like...80% since tipper will kill you.

I might disagree about Marth not being able to punish because the Marths I play are usually much beyond my level (IB and Diakonos). Missing a grab is usually fine because odds are you'll have the time to set up your DI or tech the floor if they tipper you, etc. But the problem I usually have is that in those situations, you get hit off the ledge, which can either lead to a successful edgeguard, or more often than not, extra percent as you try to recover back.

Marth shouldn't ever be able to give you that much damage OFF THE EDGE! When getting back onto the level and fighting is another issue, that seems like the most annoying part of the MU.
