Looks like the deal sweetener of not having to set up a bunch of booths has brought a lot of companies back to E3.

I feel the same way but I wouldn't rule them out either.

All we've heard about MP4 is job postings and Skyward Sword HD is playing the role of the opening act covering the whole show while BotW2 struggles to find it's pants or something. A trailer could surprise us tho.

If we don't get a BotW 2 trailer then it's safe to say we won't get anything until September at least. But it seems like Nintendo's top priority right now, so I say we'll get a trailer or something.
I trust Zippo on the new DK game since even if he's probably bluffing on the Sonic stuff, he's proven that he knows his **** when it comes to Nintendo. That could be our big end reveal.
We probably won't get news on Splatoon 3 until much later in the year, or maybe not even until next year.
I also see ourselves getting our first DLC character revealed for Super Rush seeing as it comes out probably a few days after the Direct.. Not DLC in the usual sense but more like how Tennis Aces handled it. You play a certain amount of Battle Golf matches or something, and you unlock Toadette or someone.

I'm of a mind that we'll see quite a few brand new games but will still be waiting for any previously announced games to come out.

I'm also 90% certain we'll see a Smash character reveal but we have no idea how the pandemic effected the character rollout so we might not get a "big" one like we've been expecting.

Three and a bit weeks to go.

What character for a Smash reveal do you think people are sleeping on?

I'm thinking that if we look at the characters revealed so far, all of them are ones that were talked about being in the base game except for Sephiroth who expanded a series that felt short-changed by previous circumstances. With those two idea in mind:

Talked about for Base Game-
-Alucard was considered as a Castlevania rep before they went for the Belmonts. He's tied up as an AT but if Konami wants to capitalise on Castlevania's hype from the animated series, it could work.
-Decidueye was in running with Incinaroar for a Pokemon Rep and since Rowlett is getting a second chance as a started in Legends Arceus it could get shot.

Series that are somewhat lacking in content.
-Pac-Man has had a long and storied history but thanks to a protracted legal battle, Smash almost has none of it with only an unamed and uncredited cameo from Ms. Pac-Man in Pac-Land to show for it. If the legal issues could be sorted out then Ms. Pac-Man could make the jump to full character and bring in content from the other Pac-Man games with her like stuff from Pac-Man World or her own game. Maybe upgrade Pac-Maze to Ms. Pac-Maze as her stage.
-Sonic the Hedgehog may be the only 3rd party series to have two stages in base game but both those stages are variations on "green starting level" and it's lacking in music remixes with a grand total of one from back in Brawl's days. Sonic has a big cast to draw from and any of them could bring a new stage aesthetic and list of remixes with them.

Well we've had the release dates for the next Pokemon games and a bunch of Dragon Quest games announced so looks like that's Game Freak and the Enix half of Square enix accounted for.

Nintendo's finally announced the date and time of their E3 show and it's the same as it was back when the shows were live, minute 1 of day one of the actual show and not days beforehand.

It'll be 40 minutes long, followed by 3 hours of Treehouse.

Been a crazy long wait but it's almost over.

I honestly think that we will be getting just one reveal for the event and Sakurai Presents a few days later afterwards. It feels unlikely that a double reveal may appear, but I think it could be possible.

Now who I think may appear based on my wishlist:

Crash Bandicoot, Shantae, or Rayman. There are more, but I don't want bet too much on my list to avoid salt.

I've noticed that the characters of FP2 so far all share a theme of filling in gaps from the original roster

Games were too late for base roster
Was in negotiation for five years
Finally made Final Fantasy's representation in the game feel fleshed out.

I'm no insider so I've got no clue what 3rd parties have been a long time coming (outside of rumors of Activision wanting Crash in Smash) but in terms of series that feel somewhat lacking and games that were too late, we've got:

Late to the party-
-Pokemon Generation 8 as a whole
-Animal Crossing New Horizons
-Hyrule Warriors and the upcoming BotW2
-Mega Man 11

Lacking representation
-Sonic the Hedgehog got two assist trophies but has always been lacking in the music department
-Namco has apparently assigned the majority of Pac-Man's history to the same bin that Disney threw the X-Men in
-Punch-Out didn't get anything new between 4 and Ultimate
-ROB still hasn't got a freaking stage.
-Kirby and DK are both well represented character wise but lack stages based off modern games and have notable characters missing.

Well if we go off that logic, we could also get another Fire Emblem character.

Perhaps Kiran from Fire Emblem Heroes who uses the Breidablik to fire even more Fire Emblem characters at their opponents?
