Well, has any other trailer alluded to a character, showing them, only to later reveal them separately as a newcomer? I remember the announcement trailer alluding to Nook...

Villager trailer: Nook randomly looks at the letter Villager drops. Background detail.

Palutena trailer: Dark Pit actually confronts Palutena and the camera focuses on him, and he speaks.

Huge difference there.

I think Dark Pit will just be an alt with a completely different voice, and maybe different taunts and victory poses. They may also changes his weapons, but it'll be purely aesthetic. For example, using the Silver Bow instead of Palutena's Bow.

Dark Pit could potentially just use very different weapons to Pit if he were playable, but that would de-value Pit, I feel.

The difference being the nature and style of the games they are from. Which the games are different. Twas an odd cameo. And yeah I agree with the rest!

I didn't mean the style was different. Nook was literally a background detail. He was even slightly out of focus.

Dark Pit was a central part of the trailer. He spoke, confronted a playable character, and the camera closed in on him.

Nook is part of Villager's Final Smash, which is fairly minor. So Dark Pit likely has a much bigger role in the game. We know he isn't part of Pit's Final Smash at least, and I'm pretty sure that Black Hole/Mega Laser combo was Palutena's Final Smash so he's not a part of that either.

I will be honest with ya, I did grow up playing pac man, and he might be my new main, but the fact that he actually mad refrences to Mappy the Mouse, with one of his taunts, and the trampoline thing, that my friends, brought a tear to my eye.

I think that mode might be Classic Mode, just updated with a branching pathway gimmick.

Maybe Dark Pit will be a boss on Palutena's Temple? Sort of like the Yellow Devil in Dr. Wily's Castle.

Who outside of the kid icarus community does? I mean seriously i can't help but think people not familiar with uprising are just gonna see a black color scheme pit being paraded around as a newcomer....

Geez, everyone was expecting Mii to be generic, yet we were given an unforgettable Iwata Reggie fight. The reactions won't change Sakurai's mind.

Doesn't Palutena's Temple seem like a stage that wouldn't be exactly well designed for a stage boss?

I mean think about it.

Find Mii, Dr. Wily's Castle, AND possibly Pyrosphere if Ridley IS a boss are all relatively simple and the area where the boss would be fought is the entirety of the stage.

I still call straw grasping for the majority of people going on about him. KI:U is heavy on dialogue, so the trailer reflected that. Animal Crossing doesn't feature the same kind of voice acting. It's obviously alluding to something. I look at the allusion to Dark Pit as a salute to his origin. Probably will be a glorified alt. Which, if the same character but aesthetically different and addressed as Dark Pit or Pittoo, awesome. The "Dark" characters lend themselves completely to being alts. as that is essentially what they are, and alter ego dark persona of the protagonist. Dark Samus being an exception due to her vastly different move pool. And even she is just an assist trophy. I'm curious to see how this plays out. I just highly doubt it's anything being DP being an alt that is just acknowledged separately.

ok as the day is finished, I think I'm WAY too nervous for absolutely nothing now.

Don't get me wrong I should be happy with what's announced (I love pacman) but for some reasons, I'm actually more nervous than happy.

First, the digital event was good (seem to like splatoon, zelda on wiiu and captain toad) but the samsh section is mostly... no info but rather a sneak peak of what is going to be announced (might not even be announced as stated by Sakurai, not everything is going to be revealed before the release). Now, I don't know why but the trailer about diverse things (it;s the one when you have home run contest) wasn't discussed a lot where it's actually what I'm looking forward the most. I can understand that people like good gameplay and especially the characters but seeing how we might get lots of trophies, improved sound test UI and other stuff makes me realize how much this game has. And this is what I want the most on SSB.

SSBM and even brawl had that and I loved it. Here, this was a teaser not telling exactly what those modes and contents were which made me way too much excited but nervous because I still don't know what's going on. In the end, it was more frustrating than enjoyable.

But then, it got worse: the demo is now a mess to tell what is confirmed. Like I need to almost check every thread to have one piece of info and others don't know that's very annoying and confusing where it's the same build. This makes me in a rush and too much nervous again and Nintendo hyping nothing new is even worse.

I don't know what you think about this but for me, it was more a frustration then enjoyment (except the invitationnal this was so epic I loved the commentators). I said frustration not disappointment since this game was looking awesome for me before, I just couldn't be disappointed. This nervousness made me too busy to even appreciate the game in every footage from the demo which I have to say, the graphics and announcer looks and sounds awesome. For me, it seems a big improvement from brawl which I found in some aspect a little weak. That normally shouldn't happen and I should seriously just calm down.

I just want to hear you toughs, was it a good idea to tease like this and not being direct with reveals? I'm sure that this week end, as I rewatch all the videos and footages, it will pas but now, I feel too nervous.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's just gonna be super alt costume too, and it's all I want from him.

However, the Dark Pit tease is not comparable to the Villager trailer at all. The former is a blatant tease meant to mean something. The latter is just a character among many other characters in the background.

They didn't need Dark Pit to reflect Uprising's emphasis on dialogue, Pit, Palutena, and Viridi were already bantering throughout the entire trailer. Dark Pit getting focus like that is a tease for something, not just a cute nod to the character.

He's hiding in Palutena's reveal art on the website. I think there's a bit more to it than that.

My power went out, so I watched some Anime, played Elite Beat Agents and a level of Uprising. Now the power is back on!

By the way, the first day of Treehouse made me decided that there is a 97% chance I will not buy Captain Toad, and a 100% chance I will not buy Splatoon.

I'm still mad I didn't see any SMT x FE. The only good games talked about were Smash and Layton vs Ace Attorney.

Tomorrow's Treehouse event will show more of some games we've already seen, which I'm sure will include Smash. I also recall them saying Smash would be on again tomorrow while they showed it today.

However, we're probably gonna see lots of Splatoon first. Also, S.T.E.A.M will be getting a lot of focus. Like, a lot.

Well, people were just as riled up about either allusion. (overly)

Right which is why it's interesting, and I didn't mean "just a cute nod," but it shows that they are acknowledging him separately even though he'll still just be an alt. Which being an alt in Brawl is technically his first appearance, right? I'm under the impression that they took that and made a character out of it since he was officially created in Uprising and non-existent in the original. Making the allusion an acknowledgement and celebration of origin (like a birthday, but different). I mean, I think that's more than a cute nod. It's just weird trying to rationalize something as something and essentially nothing but really something at the same time. Have I emphasized enough how odd it is? lol

I think we should get a few veterans myself. I don't want anymore newcomer reveals for now (I'll make an exception for Mewtwo though, heh).

Wario, Ganondorf, and Game and Watch would be wise. I mean, they were basically revealed yesterday, may as well get it over and done with.
