I'd say you missed some punishes on those Fox illusions because you opted to get a Metal Blade on the ground instead of preparing a smash attack. Some potential punishes were missed versus Olimar too.

Nice work though. I was wondering how you were going to handle Olimar holding onto your Metal Blade like he did. Turns out he panicked whenever you fsmashed.

Some of my recent matches. Please comment on what I need to improve, thanks!

FG vs ike. I stopped replay short, as last minute of game I was just going for a footstool to zdrop blade for practice

FG vs mario
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=s5_bUt2MFa8

Friendly vs bowser Jr (I know I screwed up on my deaths)

I know these arent from tournaments, but any critiques please please? I've kind of hit a wall where I'm having trouble improving. I use a ton of metal blade shenanigans (maybe too much?). There are some boost blades mixed in if people like seeing those. I know I do tons of full hops, but I like the flexibility of them, I tend to just shorthop when I know I will be using lemons. I figure I should work on mixing in more short hops?

From what I see, I would recommend:

- work landing uair into your game. Work uair into your ledgegusrding game. Just use uair more. Uair is civilization.
- try to vary up your short hop game. Your short hop "laser" is on point, but you can do more than just short hop nair over and over. Try landing and dtilt, or landing and dash grab, or landing uair.
- get ballsier with your utilt. It's easy to get gunshy with this move because of how vulnerable it leaves you on whiff, but the reward is equal to the risk. If you see your opponent commit to a dash attack or falling aerial, a well placed utilt will end the stock.
- usmash OOS. Use it, abuse it. It's great for getting kills at higher percents.
- try ledge trumping more (and punish with uair if you succeed). If you can threaten this effectively you can condition your opponent to buffer a move when they grab the stage, which you can then punish.

Yeah Olimar is an interesting matchup. Sometimes I prioritized MB over better punishes because MB can at least go through any and all pikmin while it only takes one pikmin to block an FSmash. Also Nom is on our PR and I'm surprised I even took that set.

Here is a video of me sticking it to a falcon player. He was a silver II rank on the ladder.

I know I am a bit repetitive in my gameplay but critique would be great!

Here are a couple of games against the best Falcon I have ever faced. These replays are a bit old, dating back to a couple of months ago. I'll upload some newer matches involving Sheik, Fox, and possibly Mario too - all characters that I believe have an advantage in the match up.

Last 2 posts are looking good. So much hate for the Captain. Only thing that really stands out is that Peabnut doesn't really edgegaurd. So many missed opportunities for spikes, especially after hitting them with a MB as they get close to the edge. Follow that up with a Dair and it's almost guaranteed. But I can tell you play safe so I guess it is a bit unsafe if you miss.

I've been slowly working in the Boost Blade into my game. I often forget, but this is the best thing I've been able to do with it so far. A boosted dair spike. With a quick follow up dair spike kill for good measure ;)

I think I had the 3 best edge guards/gimps against falcon in that video I posted.

Leafstool
Jab lock > upper
Bair into stage

Hi guys,

FYI, I am a casual player looking to improve. Can you please provide feedback on the following matches.
Be as harsh as you like, I take on feedback very well. (All matches from for glory)

Thanks in advance. (Videos are unlisted so can only be viewed through this link)

Vs ganon - I can't cope with captain Falcons kick!!
http://youtu.be/67EOV1FOlD4

Vs pikachu - I got outplayed on this one hard!
http://youtu.be/EeivVNUa7dI

Vs Fox - I had a good lead, I don't know why it didn't stay that way?
http://youtu.be/ETdMHTbvWI4

From my own analysis I think me defence is very poor. Plus my edge guarding game is weak.

WHERE'S THE LEMONS?! Your spacing needs a lot more work and lemons are the way to do it. You're playing Mega Man like a boxer and he isn't. You need to keep your opponent at mid range. Force them to move in and punish a mistake they make (if they make one). If they don't, you back off and start over. Keep them guessing where you're going. Mega Man has very high mobility and the ability to attack at multiple angles while moving.

Play Mega Man as if you are playing a boss battle from one of his games. If you touch the boss, you take damage. Don't take damage!

Also work on rolling less. And stop throwing out random smash attacks as well.
Hope that helps.

To summarize, you play as Mega Man far too defensive. Worse yet, your defensive game is horribly slow and uninspired. I'm not just going to throw insults, because I do mean to help. Lets just start with some of the main concerns:

In the first video, you refused to play more in your face against Ganondorf. The match up is mainly in favor for Mega Man, and the main problem was either you weren't spamming enough lemons (the right way. lemons are the bain of a poor Ganon's existence) or you didn't punish Ganondorf's whiffed attacks correctly. Mega Man can 40% Ganondorf instantly with up air combos, and that's really one way of getting in his face. Like all match ups, more up airs in general are good since they auto cancel. You can get away playing against Ganondorf offensively too if spam isn't your thing.

The other issue was you used your second jump before rush. That isn't always a good idea because it can prevent you from recovering a second time. You also went for the always horribly predictable For Glory way of recovering which was from a lower arch. Its not always bad, but most players DO expect this so its always a good idea to mix up your recovery by recovering in all forms. There are very many thirsty edge guarders and Rush coil isn't often thought as a good recovery in a lot of player's minds, therefore this happens. Also if you do land directly on stage make sure you land on neutral air because it cancels any landing lag from rush coil. Plus nair's hit box is pretty much Mega Man's entire body which can make it make it harder to punish in a handful of instances.

The only advice I could offer that's unique to the Pikachu MU is leaf shield when fired as a projectile eats up all his tiny thunder bolts

For Fox:
-You can duck under his lasers.
-You can gimp his recovery very easily with leaf shield+footstool. Fox in general has a terrible recovery. Once he's off-stage with enough percent, he's definitely not coming back.
-Bait the reflectors, up throw usually makes Fox players want to reflect.
-Good Fox players will dthrow >>> fair>>> uair which in between any order can be easily DI'd. Fox's combos don't really seem easy and the few reliable ways lie in just up tilt sometimes and dthrow. That's really just it, but he does have a damn good pivot grab.

Ok fantastic thanks for the feedback. So to summarise
- more lemons
- stay away (where lemons almost disappear)
- less rolling
- less smash attacks
- up air more
- use rush first then jump
- recover high
- n air when landing
- leaf shield more often

Also, was video quality ok?

Once I feel i have acted on your feedback, il post new stuff. See you guys in a week. Thanks once a again. Very helpful.

I'm using 1332 here. AKA danger wrap, Beat and Skull barrier
Really solid Mega Man play there. Sheik 's nerfs made her a little bit easier to deal with, but she's still one of our toughest matchups IMO.

You're definitely convincing me of Beat's viability here. Using wall jumps and projectiles you can stall with him pretty effectively and bait edgeguardin attempts.

I'm not sure I would go with Skull Barrier in this matchup though. Needle camping is a pain in the ass, and I get why you'd want to threaten a reflect against those. But IMO needles are too low damage/knock back to be worth reflecting, and SkB is slow enough relative to Sheik's speed that she can easily bait and punish it. Leaf Shield / Plant Barrier are both handy tools when recovering high, and I noticed a few instances in those videos where you might have benefited from having them as an option.

Plant Barrier is definitely better in the matchup IMO, specially if using Beat. I picked Skull barrier to counter the player. He loves to spam needles when he has me at ~100-120%, which I find annoying, since they can knock you to the ground, and it leads to kill setups. I wanted him to commit to fair spacing so I could trade with a Danger Wrap to get kills.

Soon as I get my game back, I'm gonna play some friendlies with some pals of mine to go to the lab with Hyper Bomb and record it, and come back later to edit this post and showcase it. I still prefer Metal Blade at the moments, but I found myself impressed with Hyper Bomb the moment I unlocked it and am real eager to experiment with Hyper Bomb and watch what happens. I think its got potential and that it should be given a chance. Sets that will be in the video:

Definitely try 2122 each custom complement crash bomber pretty well. You could use metal blades if you want, but the opportunities open for shield poking/weakening and with crash bomb+ skull barrier you can get a grab.

Yesterday night I won my first Smash Bros tournament ever! Fortunately I was able to find the VOD and my matches are viewable. I couldn't believe the surge I picked up going through losers bracket. Here are the time stamps of the VOD.

GF 1 and 2 vs :rosalina:/:4bowser: Feat. :4miibrawl:

Grats on your win. Especially because you got to beat the one who sent you to losers in grand finals.

Your Hank Hill's hair color looks too light though.

Thanks!

If I went with the other hair color though, it would be too dark :/ I think he will do for now.

Sup guys, I have some videos of my Mega Man from my local weekly that I would like to receive some feedback on.

Me vs. OES | Starlord (:4pikachu:, :4diddy:) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zHdjixw0oY

Me vs. Toofoo (:4zelda:) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOAX8nMF6B0

Although I had been to this weekly several times for Melee and PM, this was the first time they had Smash 4, so this was actually my first Smash 4 tournament. I actually ended up getting 4th, so it went pretty well overall.

I'd just say not to use your air jump before Rush when recovering.

Have some videos of me being bad this game. Online matches only cause no frequent tourney scene offline and haven't entered a Smash 4 tourney yet.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxv9T-tQD4s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnD1Q8tUK6Q

I would really appreciate some criticism cause I always doubted my ability in this game and I can never pinpoint why it felt off to me. Any help would really be nice

Don't worry dude I think that your MM is coming along just fine. Just for future reference, it's generally a lot easier to critique your matches if you lost. I only watched the first game thoroughly and there wasn't too much wrong, but here's what I noticed:

- It's absolutely imperative that you do not fish for kills; there were plenty of times where you threw out random d-smashes and u-tilts to force a kill, even when Diddy was 140%. At that percent, a simple back throw or b-air is a lot more safe and will still net you the kill.

- Don't be afraid to use the stage to your advantage to recover. I'm not sure why but you used up-b extremely early and you paid for it pretty hard @ 1:40. Going low and wall jumping usually helps a lot when your trying to recover safely.

-Personally, I wouldn't focus on landing d-air so much, especially against Diddy's flexible recovery; you didn't land it once, and it seemed like it would be better to just cover options on the ledge with leaf shield or to just set up a MB.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now then, here's a whole slew of videos of me in some local tourneys.Any comments and/or critiques will be appreciated.

Here is footage of my first big tournament in win NorCal.

#1 ranked Megaman player in my region. I dont have a lot of credible players critique my Megaman gameplay, so I'll take what I can get here :)

Notes:

- Very long set. I had to reset the bracket to win the tournament.

- Yes this is Jeepy, the best Wario in Norcal who got famous on reddit for destroying that sonic player to win the Foundry.

- This is custom Megaman. 1333 to be precise. I firmly believe custom Megaman is incredibly stronger than his vanilla alternative. Praying to smash Jesus that they stay legal after EVO.

Thanks in advance. Any critique to help me get to the next level is much appreciated :D

1333 is where it is at. The only thing I ever substitute is 1332 for chars with projectiles.
