Do you find one gender's singing voice more entertaining than the other, or anything deeper than that?

Iunno where this thought came from but etc

As long as the voice works with the music, it's awesome. I don't prefer male over female voices-- but I do prefer lots of voices over others for various reasons.

It personally doesn't matter to me, though I do tend to enjoy a females voice better( I'm currently in a band with a fabulous female vocalist). It's all a matter of the music though, if the voice fits then the voice fits.

Most male artists I listen to are rappers which isn't exactly like singing so I mostly prefer a females voice when it comes to singing. Unless i'm the one whos singing. You know, cause ive been called the songbird of my generation. (stepbrothers.)

It really depends on what the genre is... both genders have their strong points in this area. I really like the female singer for Evanscene (sp?). She has an incredible voice.

That's freaky CK. Before I clicked it I thought it would be a link to a song by The Mars Volta.

I thought I was gonna get Rick Roll'd.

That would have been the 3rd time in two days... :urg:

I like male & female voices equally.

I like more bands with male vocals, but that may just be because I know more of them. I have no real preference, and some of the bands I like with female vocals sound amazing. I like voices that stand out in general.

I generally prefer male singers, though lots of bands all sound the same these days...
for me, it really depends on how unique the voice is. I haven't heard anyone else that sounds just like Anthony Green

This. I'm not drawn to genders, but I am drawn to unique voices.

However, beyond that, the singer still has to sound good. Anthony Green's voice is interesting, and works for the music he's made. On the other hand, Billy Corgan's voice has ruined every Smashing Pumpkins song I've ever heard.

I, for one, prefer female vocalists, though there are more bands with male leads that I prefer. Weird. It seems to be that I prefer solo females and groups of males. Hm... Sounds like an innuendo waiting to happen.

I prefer a male voice, but I mean I don't "not" listen to female singers

I don't exactly have any female-singer bands on my top ten, but it's not a sexist thing, or even a "I prefer ____'s voice more" thing. It's just a coincidence -- I like mostly music that would be a completely different dynamic with female vocals, and not necessarily in a good way. Females can definitely have some dynamite voices, though. I'm amazed at their prowess in the world of metal.

agreed. I suppose it actually is coincidence for me too... more often than not, I tend to find only certain songs that I like for female singers, as opposed to liking almost the whole album of a male singer

Not really, unless it happens to be a good looking chick then I 'll try to like her music.

Nah, in reality it all depends on how their voice goes with the flow, if a male's voice goes with the rhythm and a female's doesn't, then I'm most likely going to like the male singer.

Two of my favorite vocalists are Dax Riggs and Maynard James Keenan.

Personally, I just gravitate towards bands with strong vocalists. If the music is mediocre (ala Slipknot), but the vocalists is great, then I can handle it.

There are some exceptions.

And the Nick Pitera video was real. He does a medley with two songs by female musicians, and the style he sings in normally matches up in both songs, but it isn't the same as the original. So, at the very least, he's lip syncing, but the singer in those videos is really singing. But, his ability isn't uncommon.

^^yeah your exceptions music is pretty crappy.

i like male voices better. but if the occasional female voice catches my attention that is cool too.

just girls sing about boring things or the music just isn't cool enough. LOL
they are though.

Yeah, I like his voice slowed down apparently(like in the Watchmen Trailer music). I thought that song was awesome, went to listen to more, and was like D= It was a sad day.

Nothing says distinctive like The Mars Volta, DFD, and Radiohead.
You forgot about the part where I want to bone Trent Reznor. Good picks, btw. Manson has really unique vocals, but his lyrics(which were usually only ok to begin with, with some awesome exceptions)have gone downhill.

For females, I find that Bjork and Rasputina have unique female voices. Birthday Massacre too. Bjork definitely being the most unique ;)

And yeah, Keenan's voice is the sex. I find that there's more variation in male vocals.

It's called a joke.

For a better example, go to the dictionary, and look at the entry: "slave1's life."

Well, i'm really into metal, with all of the Male singers "growling and screaming" half the time, but i do like rock and alternative

I used to dislike female singers alot, and would never listen, and i hate evanescence!

But when i watched the FullMetal Alchemist anime, almost all of the opening and closing credits had female singers, than i strongly started to like them.

Now I love female singers! and my 2nd favorite band is Lacuna Coil, so now it really doesn't matter what the gender is!

I tend to avoid male singers, but I have a few on my iPod. Most of my favorite bands have strong female vocals, such as Within Temptation, Epica, and Nightwish.

The best is when you get a really good male singer WITH a really good female singer.

I mostly listen to rock, and males voices are much better suited to rock than females. Obviously, this doesn't mean females can't do rock music. I can't think of any modern examples (because I don't really listen to any modern music, I listen to classic and older hard rock), but some awesome female hard rockers include Joan Jett and Lita Ford.

Evanescence is so god-awful. The lyrics sound like they were written by a moody 14-year-old, and her voice is good, but not great. Lacuna Coil is top-notch though.

LOLOLOLOLOL.

my life is not that crappy *sad face*

Consciously I don't really care.As long as the voice sounds good. But, most of the music I listen to is post-grunge (Papa Roach, Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin for examples), and the only post-grunge bands that come to mind a the moment are Evanescence and Flyleaf. I don't like either band. And so I guess somewhere subconsciously I don't like them as much.
On the other hand, I feel like a girl's voice, has an easier time being good. Guy's voices can just go farther.

I actually was thinking about this topic..

I was listening to Pandora Radio on my iPod, and I found that I would skip the female voices as soon as they came up.

So I guess males are my preference, although they might just have been bad songs =\
