Ok whats the deal with this kind of posts. OP already stated that he knew it wasn't a big thing. And yet you all post as if he gave a two page rant. I think some of you are just being to defensive about your precious brawl.

At the bottom of the main page it says, Screen shots on this site are all under development and subject to change.
I noticed and I hated it.
I guess it might be because of Diddy... which would still be a stupid reason because Diddy Kong is much more Diddy than Donkey Kong is a donkey.
But knowing Sakurai, he will make those hideous icons and those butchered names completely optional.
Good old Sakurai.

2. This is completely different from Wi-Fi. We should be thankful we have Wi-Fi. If those names, however, aren't optional, they are a crappy addition that nobody asked for. It's a detail, but details are a big part of what Smash is, and it's where the devil lies. If bad details accumulate, they drag down the feel of the entire game.

The names don't bother me at all, really. I would prefer DK as apposed to "DONKEY" but what are ya'll gonna do? I think we'll get used to it.

Yes... these things aren't a big deal, but they are sort of an eysore... *frowns* Sometimes I call DK donkey though, but not very often.

the pictures bother me, and the names are barely noticeable next to the pictures. THEY are the real eyesores. God, I hope the camera is good enough to get around the pictures. In Melee, a lot of times action is going on, on the part of the screen that has the percents and such, and adding a huge character frame picture will make it literally impossible to see what's going on.

It's incredibly obvious that he doesn't go by DK since there are two characters named DK this time. Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. Donkey and Diddy. not DK and DK.

if you really don't like the pictures of the characters, maybe you should change it to something else. like a picture of your Mii, maybe?

you are completely right! i HATE does pictures, ive hated them since the moment i saw them, i really hope theres a way to take them out, i dont know who was the genius who tought that they would look great there. the names are not that bad, i mean, here in mexico we always call dk "donkey", yet, when i saw it in the game is kinda weird, but, as someone else said, theres donkey and theres diddy, so dk wouldve been confusing maybe
still, neither the name nor the picture are neccesary, only the symbol is, the symbol looks cool, it really does, symbol and %, i always loved that, now the comlpetely f*cked it up with those horrible pics and names, i dont know if im the only one who feels that way. but well, if i only stick to the name issue, no, it doesnt really bother me that much, but they should make it right, donkey kong, the whole name as it should be, this game should be as perfect as possible, not because i want it, but because is not any game, is smash brawl!! and is very likely the most important game for wii so far, and nintendo should know that... but oh well, by now im used to nintendo f*cking this up

Donkey is his first name so it should be Donkey, Pokemon Trainer isnt his name so they will probably use pokemons names. C.Falcon will use Falcon for his name Mr.Game and Watch will have the name Game.

when was the last time you saw Donkey Kong referred to as just Donkey (Excluding that picture of course)? Now, I haven't played a lot of DK games *cough2cough*, but I'm fairly sure DK has always been Donkey Kong, not just Donkey.

An eyesore? That's blowing it way out of proportion. I agree with the profile pictures taking up too much of the screen in certain situations, but DK's name is an eyesore? You won't be reading your character's name for most of the match unless your eyes stray a little ways from the % meter, or you forget who you're playing as.

it never bothered me.
initially i thought dk would be a better abreviation, but + diddy there's 2 dks, and since there's already a big DK in the backround i guess it's kinda redundant 2 call him dk. so i guess the best thing 2 call him by his full name. (i don't think displaying it in a smaller font would be that hard.)

I mean, why'd he put "Donkey" , DK would suffice and be so much better. Does this mean Ice Climbers will be "ICE" and Pokemon Trainer will be "Pokemon" ?

And Diddy Kong's name is going to show up as "Diddy." Would you complain that they didn't put DK for that too? Obviously they're going by first name, and that's why only "Donkey" is used.
It's not really a mistake. You're just not used to seeing Donkey Kong represented by his first name.

It is. What about Diddy and DK? I'm sure everyone knows the DK isn't Diddy Kong because Diddy is never refered to as DK.
