Smash's online communication isn't really impressive, but oh well, Halo 3 will be there when I feel the need to betray my Nintendo friends on my 360.

It's entirely possible that they'll fix things like that before hte game comes out. Maybe in america they'll say DK, you never know. It's kind of like how in Melee when you switch to Japanese language Bowser and Jiggly change names.
It's not exactly the same, but I think that that's most likely what they'll do if there really is a problem with people.
It only kind of bothers me, but I think everyone is reading a bit too much into it. Ice CLimbers will stil be Ice Climbers, Pokemon Trainer will probably be whatever Pokemon is active at hte time, and Captain Falcon will be Capt. Falcon.
Even if I'm wrong, the game will still be the same.

I think they used Donkey because his icon is DK and they didn't want to have the same thing used twice.
Then pokemon trainer will be called red i think. I don't know about the ice climbers. And i think Diddy kong will be diddy.

Everyone knows DK as DK.
Everyone knows Diddy as Diddy or Diddy Kong. Not DK.
So putting DK as DK wouldn't confuse anyone. Really.

I think what bugs me more, is the fact that it actually says the name of the character you are playing, as well as their portrait beside it.
Seems very redundant, and pointless. The past two games never had character names and portraits beside the percentage meters. I don't see now why all of a sudden they needed to add this huge cluster of text and images when they really weren't and aren't necessary.
How is that going to look with stocks anyways? Stock images + Percentage + Character Symbol + Character Portrait + Character Name + Colored Swoosh Effect?

It also seems pretty dumb for you to be calling me a no-lifer. I mean, I don't expect for you to know what I do everyday, but still. Sariku joined AFTER me and has more posts than me, and so do alot of other people.
This is actually a TYPICAL day. School. Home. 2 hours of Homework. 2 hours of skateboarding with friends. Dinner. 2-3 hours on the computer on sites such as MySpace, Facebook, SWF, etc. I post in every thread that interests me, and try to contribute as much as I can. I see no bad reason for having a large post number if it actually means something, instead of 500 spam posts saying "Cool idea". Anyways, Tuesdays and Thursdays I stay after school with friends. Wednesdays and Fridays me and 3 friends go to a friends house to Smash. And on weekends I go to my girlfriends house from 2-10pm.
$10 says you quote me and say "SO?" , but I really couldn't care, because if someone that mattered thought this thread didn't deserve to be up, it wouldn't be. And you, Master Peach, obviously don't matter.

Just because something is spelled different, looks different, or seems different doesn't mean you should make thread about it. As to putting Donkey there instead of DK, yes, it's a mistake. I think it's made by a "lower" member of the development team however and maybe they don't require him to speak English? Something like that does seem to be the case.
Well, good find anyway. Here is to hoping they change it for the USA/PAL version. And here is to hoping you will be able to turn off those annoying faces and names.

Ike's presumed battle stance is wrong. Now, as soon as someone reads this they'll go "PROOF" or "WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?". The thing is many of special enemies in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance comment on Ike's battle stance. If it's not because they've known/fought beside Gawain (Greil, Ike's father who taught him), it's because of his unique and intriguing approach. I guess I'm just saying it is actually a character trait and a beckon of converse within the plot. I would have preferred it if Ike used his Ranger or Lord battle stance, but it's really no big deal. Just something worth picking on.

Anyways All I'm trying to say is why not make a thread with a bigger subject that grabs more attention to more people. But I'm just talking.
My opinion on this is that sakurai probably put Donkey instead of DK because in the back behind the dmg meter the DK Icon shows. So why would he have the need to put DK again. That kinda redondant don't you think?
Anyways that's my thoughts on this.

For some evidence this mistake probably won't be in the final game, compare these screenshots from the last update:
This one, from the US version of the site, shows Donkey Kong with his full name spelled out above him in a smaller font.
However, the Japanese version of the screenshot abbreviates his name to Donkey.

Ondo proves a good point. I don't know for sure, but perhaps he is referred to as Donkey in Japan as a pet name, similar to how we say "DK".

Wow, I did NOT notice that it only said Donkey. I would have definitely preferred DK, but, w/e...I don't play him anyways.

I didn't think of checking the Japanese site.
Now I'm almost 100% certain that Donkey Kong won't be a donkey in the English version.

...on annother note, one 'small' thing that does bother me is whenever Sakurai captions a picture and has it say, "He's/She's/It's huge!" I don't know why it gets to me, but it just makes want to say something like, "Ya' think?"
