List of dmbrandon tournament approved texture hacks, and hack usage:

  1. Lucario colors: Red and Green. Only to those primary colors.
  2. IvySaur colors: Blue and Red. Only to those primary colors.
  3. Charizard colors: Blue and Green. Only to those primary colors.
  4. Squirtle colors: Green and Red. Only to those primary colors.
  5. Sonic colors: Green and Red. Only to those primary colors.
  6. Castle Siege stage transition's ground and background colors separated.
  7. Infinite replays.
  8. Unrestricted Pause Camera.
  9. Music hacks.
  10. Nametags during replays hack.
  11. No tripping. This is to be applied only if one of the follwing circumstances are met:
    • Both players agree to playing a set without tripping.
    • The entire tournament will run without tripping.
  12. Stage texture hacks so long as the stage layout itself, and the design remains completely intact, and clear. The background must keep itself, in color, separate from the stage.
  13. Character Texture hacks for the non-teams colors, so long as they don't keep a main color scheme of another selectable color, with minor exceptions. For instance:
    • Gold Link may be changed to anything that's not Green, Blue, Red, Black, or White.
    • Blue, Red, and Green link may not be changed to anything, unless it keeps the same color scheme. Such as: Blue Link may be changed ONLY if the character is kept blue. Altercations to sword color, afterimages, bombs, arrows, boomerangs, U.B color, boots, and other things of that nature. The armor's design can change, just not the color of it.
    • Clause 13 in it's entirety is overridden by clauses 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 only if the colors made to said characters in the clauses listed are changed to help players differentiate the colors of their characters in teams play.
  14. Any hack may be used so long as the following criteria are met:
    • Both players agree to the hack being on and have checked with a judge. A judge has the final decision to allow it. Unlike normal Smash Bros rules, no matter where you are in a set, a judge may rule to start the set over if he so decides. This is not up for debate.
    • The hack applied does not ultimately change the competitive Nature or properties of the game. This sub-clause is overruled by clause 9.
  15. Any person who is entitled to a reduced house/entry fee for the bring and use of a console will only receive said discount after their Wii has been approved by either a Tournament Organizer, or a player of their choosing. All TOs have the right to ask for the house fee before testing the Wii. Refunds can be given once the Wii has passed inspection.
  16. Unless it's strictly written in the rules page for the tournament, any player may request the removal of all hacks from whatever Wii his scheduled match is to be played. The only time this rule may be overridden other than the previously stated is:
    • During teams matches including the following characters: Sonic, Pokemon Trainer, Lucario.
    • Before a tournament begins a TO can still emplore the tournament to apply "No Tripping" to ALL tournament matches. Players may opt to strike this rule, but only so long as they both agree. The opposite is also acceptable.

dmbrandon's list of super penalties:

  1. Any player found using a hack not on the list to any benefit will be subject to complete ejection from the venue with no refund.
    • If you're ejected after teams has started your team as a whole will forfeit any remaining matches.
    • If you're ejected before teams has started, your partner may ask for a refund, or fill your spot with any player not currently in the event at no cost.
  2. Any player found forcing an opponent or player to use texture hacks, or "No Tripping" in a tournament match will forfeit their remaining matches. You may still stay in the venue. If you're either eliminated from th event, or did not enter, a judge may:
    • Ask a player to pay a stacking house fee to stay in the venue.
    • Pay the entry fee of the event so the TO may refund the fee to the player affected. This is to offset the player's experience at the tournament.

If there are any other hacks that should be brought to my attention, please let me know. Thanks! :D

Ya add unrestricted camera pause, since it doesn't really do anything and I always have that enabled anyway. Could have its uses I guess.

Also, there's always people out there that won't want to play with any kind of textures on. You should state that textures that use the SD card method can be turned off simply by pushing out the SD card (and probably reloading the char select screen) if a player does not want them on. Some people think the only way to turn them off is restart the Wii which disables all the codes if they don't run Homebrew. I can understand stage textures being distracting to a point, but most char textures are fine. Only some like pure black chars or rainbow colored textures can be distracting. But stuff like Marth with a purple cape is nothing to whine over xd.

i put galacta knight texture on red mk and dmbrandon went to my house and dropped a brick on my wii, stole my wallet, and took out my knees with a louisville slugger baseball bat. what an ***.

don't make the same mistake I did. I took his smile and cool approachable nature for granted. I should have remembered why i sleep with a fireaxe by my bedside.

"Next Wii I play on that has texture hacks I'm gonna (insert swear here) throw it!"

DM, a few suggestions:

-Add in the triple jump glitch fix

-Default Settings Code (set to 4 or 3 stock, etc, automatically)

-Nametags saved in replays

-Infinite length replays

-Colored Shields (just pure awesome, way better than any texture hacks)

I fail to see how MK imitating Kefka makes him worse.

In fact, I'd argue the pink MK is the only good one.

Hey DM, what about Hacking Warioware, Luigi's, and Pokemon Stadium 2 to make those stages not so gay (in fact Pokestadium 2 would be the best neutral stage without the changes)

do you think those hacks should be allowed in events?

Perhaps, but until it's globally accepted, and enough people go out on the limbs to hack their consoles, it won't be added on my current list. It's a good idea, but for now, it's not in reach.

Hacking those three stages would have a major impact on the metagame. The gameplay needs to remain untouched for regular Brawl tournaments.

not really, poke stadium 2 adds in another neutral stage, and in my mind improves the metagame

but yeah its not globally accepted

No tripping shouldn't be something a player can disagree to, and I have no idea why someone would want tripping on (unless they are bad and think they need get lucky to win).

Because a core player may not have had the experience playing without it, and expects it during a match. He or she has the right to say they don't want it if the entire tourn isn't ran that way.

I don't really see it that way, lol.

I'll gladly allow people to not have texture hacks mess with matches and stuff like that, since it can be distracting, but letting someone choose to have tripping on when the option to have it removed exists? I don't think I'd allow that, even if I can't have no tripping on every Wii.

I don't want to have the whole tournament have tripping on just because I can only get half of them to have no tripping on.

A player can choose to not play with hacks. How is this hard to comprehend? I, for one, love no tripping. Not everyone does.

The no tripping hack should not be in the list. Reason being is because youd have to have every wii capable of running that hack. If only hacked wii's run no tripping and the unhacked wii's have tripping in it, well how fair is that? Honestly it changes the game a bit too much to be put as part of the rules.

Not saying i like tripping, i think it's the worst possible thing ever, just saying it doesn't seem practical to put the no tripping hack in.

Also can't we just make exbrawl the standard tournament hacks

I don't completely understand the "entire tournament will run without tripping" part. Does that mean that all wiis are hacked and everyone must play on hacked wii's with no tripping? A good thought but illogical in my opinion.

Relying on luck to win is cool! I like how I took a match off Spam one time because he tripped into a fully charged fsmash. I didn't like that I lost a set to Blackwaltz awhile back because I tripped when going to edgehog olimar though. Removing tripping makes the game a tiny bit more fair. That should be a standard.

Edit: and since I know it's coming, the reason dmbrandon didn't 3 stock me was because of tripping...fawk you dm :D

Well, the tournament should play on fair grounds. It's just like players opting to play on banned stages, it's completely up to them.

Most of the texture hacks look like something done in the Create-a-Wrestler mode of a WWE game. Yuck.
