Yes, someone on GameFAQs pointed this out and by checking the New Zealand site (ofc they **** it up), MattGX (sorry if I got your name wrong) confirmed that the GameFAQs guy was right.

In my honest opinion, Morrigan's pretty much the Gym Leader Misty of Darkstalkers. I can see why people like Morrigan, but... she's just SO OVERRATED, and she needs a chill pill from the crossover appearances for a bit. Have Lilith get in some more fighting games!

Unironically, if the character is purple and it isn't just a random background color, I believe the most likely character is Waluigi. Rayman is a close second.

If we found out that sea green was going to be a background color, I never would have guessed Mythra and Pyra. To me, knowing the possible color narrows the playing field down but certainly isn’t an automatic teller who is to come.

I feel Hayabusa is a real contender tho.

On the other hand, we did correctly guess that their color would be that shade of green if they were to get in...

For real though, there are so many characters that have the color purple in their design that it's still not going to be possible to guess who exactly it is, especially if it's like Sephiroth where only the eyes are the background color.

It's Waluigi. I've been on this hill for over a year and I'm willing to die on it.

You and me both, man... I've been betting my Burger King on Waluigi and this just makes it more likely that people in this thread are gonna buy me some Burger King hahaha. I just heard about the purple leak thingy, and something to add is that the shade of purple is precised to be darkochid, which has the color spectrum of 9932CC

So this would precisely be the background color for the last dlc fighter if this leak is true.

Considering how the Direct takedown happened overnight (over the course of 3 days) across all Nintendo YT channels, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this is recent. I could be wrong, but if it had been up for a while I'd bet that people would notice sooner considering how much people here intentionally look for stuff like this.

Rolling out of my slumber to spill my thoughts on the matter, since I'm glad to have some sort of new meaningful information to break what was probably the most painfully boring slump in Smash speculation yet. Anyway...

Obviously the mind leaps to some character with purple prominently in their design. Waluigi, Rayman and Neku are pretty strong picks IMO. Maybe even Hayabusa again. Definitely a possibility but the website is hardly opposed to using less obvious colors that either tie into something different or simply compliment the character design.

Terry and Sephiroth for example take after company / series logos (SNK and FF7 respectively). Incineroar is yellow for some reason (his eyes?), Ken is silver / white as an inverse of Ryu's red background. Samus uses a dark blue likely to reference the depths of space. As always this lead only gets us so far since it can be stretched however which way you'd like.

But still, it's a cool find and one that we can use to narrow things down even a little bit, as long as it's not simple a placeholder (which honestly I'm not sure why it would be... does it match any other characters' colors?). Certainly the most interesting thing that has happened in a while.
