Well, we get to the end, the next DLC will be the last Ultimate ... Translation: " The game is no longer profitable for Nintendo."

So, who are the most likely candidates for this final ? Since November 1, 2018, I do not want to hope to see a particular character because I have never been disgusted with my life to see Incineroar instead of Decidueye. Unfortunately, I speculate on the characters since Brawl, and it's a habit that does not get lost. And as much, I guessed just for the majority of FP1 characters, as much the FP2, I had zero success. We'll see if it's still worth speculating. So here are my most likely candidates.

Number 1:
A Pokémon. Simply, it will be played between the 8g Pokémon and the starters of Legends Arceus. Which still leaves a wide choice: Cinderace, Intelleon, Rillaboom, Urshifu, Caltyrex, Melmetal, Decidueye, Samurott and Typhlosion. For 8G Pokémon, it's really hard to determine. Cinderace seems the perfect candidate, it is clearly the Pokémon that TPCi wants to highlight, as they did with Greninja, but it will make 3 fire starters that reached their final form. Intelleon, I have more and more trouble imagining it in the game, unless it's for a gameplay based on James Bond (like the rumor that says it should have been in Smash 64). Rillaboom would be too similar to Donkey Kong. There would be a nice gameplay with Caltyrex and Melmetal, but Urshifu would be perfect as a fighting game fighter.

As for the Pokémon de Legends, typhlosion is the least likely of 3 because there is already Pichu by representative of 2G. This rule should also be applied to Decidueye, but it has the advantage of being desired by Sakurai who had good ideas to make his gameplay original, but I do not believe there anymore. Samurott seems the candidate all designated, in the absence of a representative of the 5G.

Number 2 :
Jonesy (Fortnite). Whether one likes it or not, we must recognize that Fortnite is a popular license, and since Sakurai admitted that it is Nintendo who pushed hard for Steve to be in the game, I would not be surprised that It is in the Fighter Pass 2 to take advantage of the success of Fortnite. If the game had been a Fighter Pass 3, there would have been Imposter

Number 3 :
Crash Bandicoot. I started having doubts with what happened with Toys for Bob, but Activision ravidized. I'm not pleased that the worst large US video game company is represented in Smash Bros, but Crash Bandicoot is an icon of video game, very popular in Japan, and I still think that if the recent games arrived on Switch It's through willingness to include it in Smash Bros. For me, it's really the last video game mascot that should be represented in Smash Bros. With Rayman, but he will wait for a new game and a new scandal at Ubisoft who will push the leaders to supplicate Nintendo to include Rayman in Smash to please people.

Number 4 :
Waluigi... After Ridley, King K Rool and Banjo-Kazooie, it has become the most requested character, and I will not be surprised that Sakurai makes a last gift to the fans by heaving this wish, in the flow of the logic " But Waluigi is already an Assist Trophy ". And then a game where Daisy is playable, but not Waluigi... it should be illegal.

I might also say that Level-5 is the last company close to Nintendo to represent, but they currently have no game for which promotion immediately.

I'm really excited for the dragonborn costume because I didn't think Dragonborn would be in the game at all. But I'm curious as to why Sakurai saw him as a "popular request" I saw like 2 people talking about him every few months. Was he just talking about Lloyd, Shantae and Dante?

Seeing how Skyrim is one of the most successful games of the last decade, even if he didn't get a lot of explicit community support like the other three I believe he was still part of that statement. It's just safe to assume that such a popular game being involved in Smash is something that a lot of people would be excited to see, even if it's sort of unspoken.

That definitely goes beyond our community circle too, Skyrim in Smash is something that would likely cater to a wide casual audience.

Worried about what? The pass ending on Waluigi?

To be fair, this situation seems likelier and likelier to me.
I meant worried that Red Koopa might be deconfirmed!!! Actually that joke can't even work because whoever the next fighter is, they're gonna deconfirm everyone for all of Ult lol. Anyway I gotta own up the meme, show me the red shell hat.

My pipedream is a Shining Force character. Poor guys can't even appear in the Sega All-Stars Racing games. D: I mean, franchise is that dead, and admittedly not the most iconic, so I get it.
It's less the franchise is dead and more the series both went a different direction and got a new team, considering Camelot did the Shining Force games.

But yeah, sad times, although at least the Shining Force community is decently active with mods and whatnot. And I frickin' love Shining Force still. Remember when Shining Force was the anime strategy-RPG in the West before Fire Emblem? Pepperidge farm remembers.

No, the Red Shell Hat not coming back...because it's not coming back.
I wouldn't count it out yet. Even if Waluigi isn't the last one they could drop in a completely random wave. The mii costume reveals don't always have to go with the theme of the fighter. I'm still trying to figure out what Dragonborn has to do with Kazuya.

I did pick up Shining in the Darkness within the last year. Way better than Sword of Hayja, imo. That... really felt like they tried too hard to mix both styles. Instead of exploration, it's Battle -> Shop -> Battle -> Shop. SITD let me explore a bit... cause Dungeon Crawler.

...Is this what Final Fantasy 13 was trying to emulate?

I'm pretty sure if they were going to keep it, it would have been in the base game.

You could say that about any of the mii costumes
I mean, weren't all returning MIi costumes 3rd party? Which they likely were DLC so the IP owners can get more royalty out of it. All 3rd party costumes were DLC only in Smash 4 too.

I mean, it'd be nice, though.

They get royalty if it's included in base game also though. I honestly don't think they're too worried over whether a mii costume gets to be DLC or base game. Seems like a non issue to me.

Dang, RIP Lloyd (Dante too). As much as I wanted a Tales character, Lloyd's costume seemed pretty much inevitable once Kazuya was revealed. Tbh I wasn't expecting Shantae to get anything, so I'm really happy we got a Mii costume and a track. Burning Town slaps, although I prefer the Pirate's Curse version over Half-Genie Hero's. Dante's costume is interesting -- on the one hand, Phoenix remains untouched, but Nintendo easily could've just not picked a Capcom fighter. We also have one spot left, and many potential characters who could fill it. So in conclusion...

In terms of playstyle, I doubt I'm gonna use Kazuya much. He'll be fun to mess around with in training to see what combos I can pull off, but his inputs are a little complicated for my liking. Still, he looks like he can pull of some crazy stuff if you put the time in. The stage looks very cinematic. Based on what I saw, I think I prefer Terry's stage in terms of mechanics, but Kazuya's in terms of aesthetics.

Overall this was a solid presentation with a lot of wild Mii costumes. I have to admit, though, it snuck up on me a bit. Between stuff I had for work, being hooked on Persona 5 Strikers, and waiting for July for the next Kaguya-sama chapter, Kazuya wasn't on the forefront of my mind....

There's a lot more royalties to Downloaded Sales, For the base game, anybody can re-sell it/give it to someone else. They can't give their data either, since that's tied to an account. The account is what makes more sales by design. And the sales from an account only really matters for download-based ones.

So DLC is basically favorable for any kind of Accounts, since it naturally makes more money on average.

Not really. Most (if not all) of the 3rd party ones were dropped initially because of licensing reasons. There was literally no reason to get rid of something as simple as the red shell hat aside from time constraints.
You say that like it's an issue. Square Enix was fine with having cloud return for base game so I don't know why they wouldn't have a problem with Chocobo hat returning in base game. Same for any other 3rd party mii.

It was evidently enough of an issue for them to not want to pay royalties on the costumes until they could sell them.

Bros I was joking lol, don't argue over a gosh darn Mii hat that's a red koopa shell. It's just hilarious that of all IP based Mii costumes, it's been the only first party one and so far, they've been ominously not selling it. I mean I can't see a red shell be appealing for something to buy but idk, it's humurous and I've based my entire fictious personality around it.

Or maybe it wasn't prioritized to bring back DLC mii costumes through base game? There's no reason to think so far into everything. They could bring the red shell back as DLC just like it was in Smash 4 and make money on it again, I see no reason why they can't. And "it wasn't base game" isn't a really great argument.

To be fair, it was Game Gear, not Sega Genesis like the others. I'd be surprised if they could fit exploration on that considering how slow the battle speed and map speed was.

There is one other thing to keep our eyes on for tomorrow: the tournament event that will be announced. It could be the missing 4029 one. Also, am I the only one worried that the remaining Smash amiibos might take until 2023 to get the remaining fighters out?

Fair point. I was still let down, but it makes sense why. After playing both kinds a lot of times, a mix that removes the exploration the series is known for(note I played this a very very long time after the regular games) tends to not be favorable opinion-wise.

...FF13 doesn't have that kind of excuse, though. But joking aside, I wouldn't mind if they could improve upon that game a bit. :)

We are still missing a 2010s tournament, I think the last character may be someone from the 2010s

also even though most “leaks” are fake, you gotta give them credit for changing up speculation and discussing lesser discussed things like Touhou, Falcom, LoL and PSO2

and getting people into those games as well

Wow that Dante mii costume is... Interesting. They really massacred my boy like that lol.

Anyway, Kazuya looks really difficult to use if you're not used to memorising a lot of moves and find fighting game inputs hard.

He strikes me as the type to be more difficult to master compared to any other character on the roster.

They put Moonlit Wilderness from Tekken 5 in, so I'm happy with that.
