About the Dante and Phoenix Wright discussion, as much as I would want it I don't see Phoenix Wright getting in at this point. The only thing that he has for him was (maybe) ballot votes, but fighter pass 2 didn't give us any really big request from the ballot so I don't think this will change for the last spot. I think Dante is way more likely for a new Capcom character. And honestly I think Amaterasu have even less chance than Wright. While Okami is a cult classic, it was always less popular than other Capcom franchise.

I randomly remembered this, but have you guys heard about that one time a fan asked a question to the LoL twitter page, and the page responded back with (I believe) a "Yes! blah blah" followed by a Captain Falcon "YES!" gif taken from Ultimate? I'm not overreading it, just thought it was neat.
I know for a fact PapaGenos covered this. but I currently cannot find what video he did so.

Tbh, some people at Riot are long-known to be Smash fans. That's how their internal Brawl mod got made in the first place. I wouldn't read too much into it.

In fact, I'd even go as far as saying it might be way harder to find a big company without any Smash fans than one with Smash fans working there.

I still wanna believe Sonic could fit into the second chance theory

I don't really see how Sonic fit second chance theory honestly. He's already the only third party with Final fantasy 7 with 2 stages, the only one with 2 assist trophy alongside Mega man, and he's one of the third party with the most music (having more than Pac-man, Bayonetta and Metal gear). On the spirits side he's also on the average with 23 spirits (to compare it Metal gear have 26, Street fighter have 27, Final fantasy have 16 with the dlc, Bayonetta have 19 and Castlevania have 29. The only big exception is Mega man with 57 spirits).

I know that the Sonic representation isn't perfect by any mean, but there's no really big evidence that something was cut or planned for the franchise either in the game or in Smash 4.

I love how everyone is drawn in a more realistic style... and then there's Kirby lol.

And yeah, I don't doubt that even Sony has its fair share of Smash fans inside. Even if Sony ended up never collabing with Nintendo, doesn't mean there aren't people in both companies that would be up for it. And this applies to pretty much everyone.

If Second Chance Theory means I get Karate Joe, I will scream. He's my most wanted (apart from Vyse but his chances are next to nothing), and I was sad when they made him a spirit. It also fits the theory that it'd be first party and underwhelming to most people like Byleth and Corrin.

You have a good point, though I will say that a Sonic Forces rep (such as Infinite or the Avatar) can still qualify for the Loose Ends theory due to the game releasing before Ultimate did.

That’s such an impossible question to answer. While balance patches have slowed down in terms of radical changes, they still happen and can be quite impactful like the Wario nerf. We also have no idea how good Kazuya and CP11 will be and how they effect the meta. People are still figuring out the rest of FP2 due to COVID hurting offline results. While all four appear viable, how good some of them are is up for debate.

If the does not shift too much, Joker seems like he will still be really good. Pythra seems to be very strong from her initial results as well.Those two and Sephiroth seem to be the most viable dlc character so far. I’m of the opinion that the only unviable one is Plant though. Banjo is low key underrated, Hero is solid too. Byleth is probably the second worst dlc character in terms of viability especially if Leo drops the character for Pythra which seems relatively likely rn.

TBF I wouldn't be entirely surprised if the dev team is a bit more confident with buffing / nerfing now as compared to a couple months back since the offline events are returning. The only nerfs a FP2 character has recieved so far is Min Min getting her charged Smash and the Dragon ARM laser reduced - which is not aimed at the top level (instead trying to discourage the "Scholar's Mate" cheese).

But yeah, I feel that an official tier list won't appear until long after the last patch. Even then it's going to be with an incomplete picture - Melee's tier list makers hardcore underrated at first and that one is still developing. With that in mind I don't think Ultimate's going to stagnate by the time Smash 6 arrives barring something catastrophic.

It's also difficult to judge characters individually since quite a few pros have started to have a roster of characters they use. With one main and one-to-several co-mains / secondaries for the opponents that may prove troublesome. Sephiroth for instance seems to be a pretty common secondary to cover a lot of bases.
