To my knowledge it's happened for Cloud, Joker, Hero, and Pyra/Mythra. So decently often. Enough for it not to be a non-factor.

I just remembered Byleth too so fair enough but considering how much love Tekken's getting to the point ****ing hitsparks are taken from Tekken 7 and that it makes **** like Mario seem somewhat neglected, I think Tekken's good

oh people on social media are definitely salty, but hard agree on this
Can't believe some people legitimately called this guy ''Electric Ryu'', it's like the spiritual successor of Hat Ken but even dumber and more non-sensical than before. A friend of mine wanted this character badly, so it's really detrimental when you somebody saying ''no one asked for this'' or ''literal who''.
At this point I'm fully convinced Smash fans only know like two games, Smash and the game their MW comes from.

It's funny how many characters are "literal who's" when they request characters like Ridley, K Rool and Banjo who haven't been relevant in a long time.

It's also funny how a character being included in Smash immediately makes them the second coming of Jesus Christ and everyone must love that character and hate on the "less deserving" characters because clearly only gaming icons can make it into Smash.

I hate both sides and wish people could just have a normal reaction to Smash reveals.

There can never be enough FighterMcPunchfaces in Smash. One day we will get Sol, Scorpion, Ragna, Nightmare, Kasumi, Morrigan, and Kyo in the roster of Smash as well. When that day comes Smash will have a decent enough FG roster to run FG-exclusive tournies on stamina mode on everyone's favorite King of Fighters Stadium.

You'll never please everyone. There's always going to be some kind of ridiculously specific criteria that a new character didn't meet in someone's eyes, therefore they'll believe the hate is justified.

Kazuya wasn't a JRPG anime swordfighter, and yet there's people upset that he's another human/shoto character/etc. Another Pokémon likely wouldn't have any of this criteria, and yet that's probably going to get more criticism than any other character in this pass.

The irony of "shotos" is that the fgc is incorrect in calling Ryu and his derivative shotos because that's not the karate they practise and it goes back to Capcom themselves messing up but it just stuck.

Makoto is much closer to being a real Shotokan practitioner.

Anyway, having a playable Tekken character makes me believe we can get a Virtua Fighter character in a future Smash game.

Well, here we are! One fighter to go... that's kind of crazy to think about. Your brain knew this was coming, but did your gut? Mine didn't! It's gonna be something. Might get a bit spicy, even. But we're almost done!

Now that a day has passed to think about yesterday... I can still say I am really looking forward to Kazuya. He looks absolutely awesome. I love Tekken and while I had the thought of Kazuya in the back of my mind, Heihachi being a Mii outfit and all, I kind of wrote it off for that same reason. As usual, I was wrong. But sometimes that's okay! I'm really excited to see him in action and hopefully get my mitts on him in two weeks' time. He's gonna be so much fun.

Now, Reimu still reigns supreme on my wishlist, but at this point I can't say whether I think the last fighter will be her or not! She's certainly not the only good choice. We'll see; I trust Mr. Sakurai and his team to do a good job on whoever it is. In the meantime, I will resume my routine of showing up for a week and then vanishing for three. Here's to another three months of speculation hell!

I really like this one because it doesn't feel derivative of Scrimblo Bimblo or JRPG McSwordGuy. We should strive for more creativity in our genre-generalizing names. I think this one's got legs.
