I just played Mega Man X and now I want X and Zero in Smash so I just wrote and sent a letter to Sakurai asking him to add them. That should work.

Before we bust out the deconfirmation train, I'd like to say that this is 99% responded to by an intern or PR person who's as in the dark about Smash as we are. The letter in question is basically just a "We appreciate your enthusiasm!"

I was thinking in terms of costumes not really echoes.

I think the premise still applies. "Holds their weapon different" is not enough to disqualify literal clones from becoming alts.

Without getting into wacky Kingdom Hearts bull**** there are more superficial things like Vanitas just looks like Sora and isn't actually a clone of Sora and Vanitas' use of the X-blade and unique abilities and magic etc. etc.

I totally get your point, but Vanitas would suit an Echo position a bit better than a costume IMO.

I agree, both X and Zero are awesome and would be a ton of fun in Smash. I actually prefer X to classic Mega Man but it makes sense they went with the original. I think the only character I like more than Zero is Pharaoh Man but a random robot master basically has no chance to get in.

If we need a Hero situation, we should probably stick with Roxas and maybe Xion. Roxas is a part of Sora, Xion is a clone of Roxas. It's closer than Ventus, who had to hang out in Sora's Heart for a while, and Vanitas, who's the dark side of Ventus.

At least, that's how I think it goes.

If we need a Hero situation, we should probably stick with Roxas and maybe Xion. Roxas is a part of Sora, Xion is a clone of Roxas. It's closer than Ventus, who had to hang out in Sora's Heart for a while, and Vanitas, who's the dark side of Ventus.

At least, that's how I think it goes.

I beat all three mainline Kingdom Hearts games and 2/3 paths of Birth by Sleep and I still don’t understand the story enough to explain it to someone. A lot of it probably has to do with my poor memory but I can’t explain why Ventus and Roxas look exactly the same and I barely know anything about Vanitas and young Xehanort.

I still really want Xemnas and/or Ansem in Smash just because I love their designs and fighting styles so much. Sadly, their only chance is as a second character after Sora gets in and even then they aren’t even guaranteed to be the second choice.

Then in my opinion Vanitas wouldn't really make sense as an alternate costume since it would require changing his persona.

To be fair, I did beat half of Chain of Memories and a bit of 358/2 Days but I never completed either so I didn’t count them. I did watch a play through of Chain of Memories afterwards. I also got to the final boss of the third path in Birth by Sleep but I could never win so I eventually just gave up.

I think the reason Sora ended up looking like Ventus is because the former, after he was born, helped heal Ventus's fractured heart (as seen in the intro to Birth By Sleep).

The most common or iconic depiction of Roxas, at least to me, is him using 2 keyblades, not one. So that would be a problem.
Personality wise it's not like they're opposites, but they're not the same at all unless you decide to reduce their characters to "funny spiky anime guy".

I think they're best as echoes than alts. And Vanitas is completely different from those 3.

I would like to see Sora’s KH 2 outfit as an alt with his KH 3 as the default. I don’t think his KH 1 outfit would really work with his older proportions. He could have his alt powered up KH 2 outfits as alts too.

With all these jokes about how complicated the story of Kingdom Hearts is, the funny thing is that the guy who wrote most of those plots also wrote the Subspace Emissary.....

It is a weird situation

Ven absolutely holds his differently and as a result has different moves.

Roxas while more famous for dual wielding, has used single key blades in the past

and he holds it remarkably similar to Sora in battle and in 358 he can get a lot of the same skills as Sora

So a Roxas costume is 100% feasible

A Xion one is also possible.

Roxas would work slightly better as an echo because of general personality and the fact that he is known for Dual Wielding Keyblades but a costume wouldn't be that bad, Definitely not perfect though.

I really don't like the idea of Sora getting alternate costumes. Roxas and Xion are the only ones that are technically feasible but their personalities are completely different from Sora's and it would just feel wrong to have them go over him imo. There is no character I think would truly feel could be justified as a Sora alt costume. There are several options for an echo maybe, but not an alt costume.

I love the idea of a Sora Hero situation and I kinda want it but I realize that it is probably not the best course of Action for Sora.

The differences between their personalities really is the difference of, Sora is goodhearted and a goofball, Roxas is goodhearted but quick to anger, Xion is goodhearted but shy (But I feel like if you surmise every character like that of course they would sound the same so this point doesn't really work.) If they were to go through with the Hero situation, at least one of them would clearly be out of character.

Thinking again, Casino Night would be quite a fitting stage for Eggman if he were added (but i'm 99,9% sure they would stick to Eggmanland or another Eggman-named level instead).

When i suggest Roxas as an alt for Sora i dont actually imagine him having many alts of his own, it'd be more like how Enderman is there with Steve, only with one costume while Sora gets all the other slots with his different colored KH3 outfits.

Hasn't been an issue for Sonic games. And those are usually rated lower than Smash.

Through a good chunk of the series actually building Eggmanland was kinda his main goal. So thats where its important.

I would like if we got something from the Dreamcast era since that's unrepresented, maybe City Escape. An alternative would be Tropical Resort just because I think they could do so much with Eggman and that stage if they don't make him playable.
