It is going to be long. I want it to be comprehensive. I want to talk about:
- Dixie Kong's history
- why she is such an important character to DK and gaming as a whole
- what her potential is to be as a fighter
- how her flexibility to be developed as multiple different kinds of Smash fighters (different ideas for fully unique, different types of semi clone, echo fighter) is a sign that she desperately needs a big push to ever make it into Smash Bros.
- just what Dixie Kong means to the next generation of Smash Bros. fans
- possibly my own personal history with Dixie Kong
- possibly exploring the idea of Dixie Kong as the "female Mario"
Please feel free to give me additional ideas on what topics I should explore with my Dixie Kong essay.
You might want to see this video, then. It's by Mark Brown of Game Maker's Toolkit.
Hey everyone, I've got a new set of vids to share from Gamexplain:

They're giving Tropical Freeze the recognition it deserves, especially highlighting what makes it better than the NSMB games. It's refreshing to see and hear, and while IDK who's making the inevitable next DK game, I hope they keep, enhance and grow on Retro's design philosophy. It reeks of quality and they put so much thought into their levels. NSMB stages feel like obstacle courses; Retro's DKCs feel like living environments.
Also,
@SeashoreWar keep knocking it out of the park! Your work will be added soon and it's always amazing. Might I suggest googly eyes for the Squitter-Mobile?
EDIT: Oh, sorry; forget what I said about the eyes.

great moveset! Haven't forgotten about it, and I'll add that soon.
I keep hearing incredible accolades for Tropical Freeze. I still have yet to play this game though (I never bought the Wii U, and I only got the Switch within the past six months). I am still playing through Smash Bros. Ultimate, and I still have my other Switch games I bought so far (Super Mario Odyssey, Captain Toad, Sonic Mania Plus) on my backlog as well. Is Tropical Freeze really THAT incredible?
Time will tell, but usually the worst rumors end up being true (we got Incineroar and Ken instead of Skull Kid and others, so yeah). Maybe things will be different this time.
There were lots of people that hoped for Incineroar and Ken though. Just because the loudest people in the "Smash bubble" groaned against them does not mean that they were not wanted. Roy was one of my most wanted characters for Smash 4, a character who was simply a straight Marth clone back in Melee. Dark Samus and Chrom were just echoes, but for some they were the most hype-inducing additions to the roster.
The one thing I want for the Direct is for that dumb rumor about the remaining fighters being from Dragon Quest, Minecraft, etc to be debunked.
There are many people who personally want to see Dragon Quest and Minecraft join Smash Bros. though. As mentioned earlier, one man's groan is another man's hype cry.
We will just have to wait and see what happens.
I still doubt we will get first party DLCs, but I am really willing to be proven wrong (with Dixie being announced, of course - no other first party potential fighter is remotely as interesting at this point).
I am skeptical of the DLC rumors (or "leaks") going around, however, I do personally agree with you that I doubt we are getting any more Nintendo characters as DLC.
Delzethin has made a potential 1st Party DLC list covering the many options and our Girl With the Whirl is one of them!

It's interesting that he says we're a more quiet fanbase. It's true of course, and I take no issue with being called such, but maybe its a wakeup call in addition to what Chrono's been advising us about. Guess we could stand to be a bit louder is all.
.
I am glad I am not the only one that has noticed that Dixie Kong has a pretty quiet fanbase. As I said before, her fanbase strongly reminds me of Roy's, a lot of fans, but most of them are pretty quiet. Dixie Kong has an incredible legacy (arguably the most notable one for any Nintendo character not already part of the roster), so it is peculiar why she does not get the passion that a character with her background would typically get.
So it’s been confirmed by
GameXplain that Piranha Plant will be the only DLC fighter to receive a Palutena’s Guidance conversation and the rest of the characters starting from Joker won’t have them like the DLC fighters in Smash 4.
Shame, though if we go by what Chronobound said earlier this might raise Dixie's chances a bit, since it all but confirms the Plant was supposed to be part of the initial roster and the DLC fighters were picked afterwards, providing new justification for the Plant’s lack of a spirit.
By raising her chances a bit, that might mean her chances go from 5% to 10%, or 10% to 15%, hahaha. Her prospects for DLC are very low, but it at least opens up the prospect that DLC characters only recently got selected. Unplanned echo newcomers is a possibility, but as mentioned earlier, even if this does happen, she faces incredible stiff competition just for these hypothetical 1-3 echo slots. The other possibility for Dixie Kong to join Ultimate's roster is a second season of DLC (which is again very stiff competition for Dixie Kong even if it were to happen).
Dixie Kong making it onto Ultimate's roster would be an absolutely incredible miracle. Possibly one of the most incredible miracles for a roster that had very miraculous inclusions (and triumphant returns).
