Diddy Kong: The Facts, Must Reads and Videos!
Okay, so we've seen a recurring trend of people coming on, wanting to know what Diddy Kong can and can't do/claiming that they have found something new, when in reality they haven't.
Therefore, I hope this thread will serve the purpose of addressing the aforementioned threads by directing them to the 'main' threads that have thus far served to address them.

Effect: Character slides in the direction of the would-be roll and tosses the item. Distance traveled differs based on character and several other factors.

NOTE: The banana has to be under your opponent's control (Or anybody other yours), for it to work. Now, Rocketbarrel-boost next to a banana. You need to be close enough that you don't trip, but the barrel is almost touching the banana. It will treat the banana as an attack and the barrel will fly off, but you land on the stage without falling. It's awesome mindgames. Not to mention that when you do this, the banana will fly off in your opponent's direction.

Banana Lock Infinite
Credit goes to AlphaZealot
http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=178576
This thread describes a method of locking the opponent into an infinite using the bananas in tandem.
To quote AlphaZealot:
After you are hit by a banana, there are forced frames were you simply can't do anything. If you hit them with another banana in this window, then the process simply repeats.
In the testing against humans I've done I've all but 100% confirmed this as inescapable. The timing is HARD though, it may take a bit to figure out/get. It may also be character specific, I think the duration a character is vulnerable after being hit by a banana may vary from character to character.

Smash attacks whilst holding a banana
Credit goes to BrawlBro
http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=176942
This thread describes how one would go about using smash attacks whilst using a banana.
To quote BrawlBro:
To quote BrawlBro:
To quote ESOJOSEHow to perform: when you pick up a banana hold down (a) or whatever button you use to pick it up. Hitting the C stick now will make diddy perform fsmash, instead of throwing the naner; if you continue to hold (a)
If you just hold (a) the fsmash will charge all the way before going. If you hit it then let go of (a) it will just do a normal fsmash. To be able to do continous fsmashes without throwing your banana you have to hit the c stick let go of (a) then hold down (a) again before the smash finishes.
It appears you can initiate this 'held state' of the banana/Item by holding the A button during the frame of an animation that during which Diddy would not be able to throw his banana/item.ets say you picked up a banana and forgot to hold A so what now? Well, you can use Diddys peanut gun and then quickly press and hold A. Then just tap the c stick to do diddy's forward smash.

The first method is Xaile's own discovery:
Xaile also notes on Izaw's method of bomb-catching with Link to create a similar (But faster) result. After looking further into it, it seems that every time you perform the down-B animation (regardless of whether or not you actually pulled out a banana or not), you can perform an aerial rather than throwing the banana once the animation is over.
As you approach the peak of your jump, press Z to drop the banana you have then immediately perform an aerial (C-stick works great). What happens is that your aerial attack picks up the banana you just dropped, performing the attack and ending with the banana in your hand. If done fast enough, you can hardly tell you dropped the banana at all (except for the sound effect of picking it back up).

'ISJR' stands for 'Infinite Second Jump Recovery'. It is a method of recovering your second jump repeatedly by ending an aerial on your second jump very close to the ground. The buffer physics of the game allow the player to cancel the ending frames of the attack into another jump without any of the lag between landing and jumping again.
Makkun's thread shows that all of Diddy's aerials (bar the Dair) can be fast falled to achieve this, making the timing a lot easier as well.

It was my understanding that N4N3RZ was the first to discover you could glide toss between two bananas, but he never decided to put a name to it. Correct me if I am wrong though, and I'll change it.U can go across the stage wih 1 banana if done properly. This is Dribble.

The second technique demonstrated by NinjaLink in his Diddy tech playlist, he has devised a way to combine the banana peel with the release grab, creating a situation where the opponent will slip on a banana peel during the release animation of Diddy's grab, allowing Diddy to regrab them. This technique can continue for as long as the banana remains on the stage, and for as long as the stage lasts.
U can chaingrab a person across the stage with this technique. Being every character slides a different distance when released u have to space the banana and urself differently for each char.(luigi and wario are big examples)

I'd advise that you take the time to read the OP of Player-1's thread, as it contains much more detail. The best way to set this up is to get yourself about diddy's length away from the opponent, glide toss forward and Bthrow, the banana should be right behind you and you can do it again, the best way to keep this going is to make the banana land STRAIGHT behind you, other wise you'll have to dash attack to pick it up and it will knock them out of the combo. I kept the banana landing straight beind me 5 times on ganndonorf and wasn't able to do this.

advent102 said:There are many ways to use the peanut gun cancel. One being spamming the peanuts until your opponent approaches you, in which you cancel the next peanut your going to shoot and follow up accordingly (usually with a thrown banana to stop the opponent in their tracks) Another use is approaching your opponent with a jump while charging a peanut, if they react by rolling or trying to jump then cancel the peanut gun and punish them accordingly. This tech is mainly used to mind game the opponent or to react quickly from spamming the peanut gun.

Usually when characters are hit into a wall whilst off the edge will get wall spiked. However, if Diddy is hit during his Up + B barrel charge (During the charging state), he will not spike into the wall, but ride along it with the aid of the knockback he receives.
I dont have a name yet but will think of one. U'll see me demonstrate what normally happens when diddy hits a wall. Of course its the same as any other character. He bounces off aka wall spike. BUT!!!! When diddy gets hit with his barrels out HE DOESNT BOUNCE OF THE WALL. If done properly U WILL NOT GET STAGE SPIKED WHILE GETTIN HIT.

'Pivot Dribbling''
Credit goes to Le_THieN and Hylian for investigating it and bringing forward their results
http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=193445
---(W)ith the newfound versatility of pivoting constantly bringing new things to the table in Brawl, in turns out that you can indeed pick up the banana immediately after a forward dribble by buffering a change of direction to turn around and face your banana and hitting the A-button to pick it up.
To break it down, it works like this:
* glide-toss forward
* push down on the C-stick to throw the banana at the ground
* as you're moving forward, buffer/hold the opposite direction
* push the A-button
The timing is not as fast as the reverse single dribble; there's a slight delay. There's a very small window of time for you to actually grab the banana right before you slide outside of its range.

As the title explains, it's an offensive way to have a naner be thrown straight from the ground in either horizontal direction. Set L to attack, and go over a banana on the ground and SH airdodge with R and then quickly press a direction and L. What should happen is you will just perform a rising SH throw (smashed or tilted can be controlled by control stick pressure). You can use it as a surprise attack backwards, or as a straight-forward offensive throw straight from the ground. It's a good lagless way to throw a banana behind you or in front of you but does require spacing if you want it to hit.

Rocket Barrel Boost Glitch
This appears to be the most common glitch/technique to be reposted. Quite simply, if you are hit and you jump + Up B at the same time you'll receive a momentum boost. When you Up B normally you usually fall slowly whilst charging, but this glitch will actually make you hover upwards whilst charging (The reverse effect can happen if you are hit downwards mind you).
There have also been claims that there is a way to do this without being hit, but I have yet to investigate this myself.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8u4kU06kpb8&feature=PlayList&p=1EE1A34C26A1E066&index=0&playnext=1
The above youtube link is a link to a series of matches against Peach. Released during a time when Diddy Kong players have been clamouring for a definitive answer to beating Peach.
On 07/07/08, NinjaLink was kind enough to upload a series of tech videos demonstrating various Diddy Kong techniques. Some demonstrate existing techniques, some are entirely new.

paoolkim was an early pioneer of Diddy Kong techs, presenting us with his Diddy combo video, and some tips 'n' tricks. Above is a link to his Youtube channel, where these videos can be found. Well worth a look for the budding Diddy.
(I've forgotten what his smashboards username was, but was something like paool with a zero in there, if somebody could find it for me, I'd be grateful)

Diddy Match Video Dump
Basically, if you want your Diddy Matches to be displayed here for people to watch, post them here! I'll add new vids periodically.Diddy Match Video Dump
The format I'd like for all videos to be posted in is:
(Single Matches)
www.example.com
- Winner(Character) Vs. Loser(Character)
(Multiple Matches in a set)
Winner(Character) Vs. Loser(Character)
Round 1 - www.example.com
Round 2 - www.example.com
(I'll get to fixing it later - There are some not in the right format, and others where the winner and loser are the wrong way around in the desciption. Doesn't really matter for now at least)
