I was going to mention today if this update didn't happen that another reason Diddy should be in is because he was a TV star on Fox/ABC Family for a few years. Don't need to prove that now.

i loved the update also, i think diddy is one of the best aditions they could have done, instead of that, pfft deoxys and toad, happy to see them decomfirmed.

like i said, popularity only because him being the protagonist of a movie? pfft, dont see him coming since the 90% pokemon that star the paper of the protagonist on pokemon movies are locked in forms of pokeballs ^.^, plus revealing more newcomers lowers space on the final smash rooster ^.^

plus we only have 71-72 more updates coming before brawl comes out, and if lucario is not announced in those updates AS A PLAYABLE CHARACTER i win ^.^ since the agreement was that he must be announced before brawl comes out even if he is really playable.

so yeah if he barely makes it, hopefully sakurai will wants to give the surprise of unlocking it with no prior update...giving me the Ace on the River ^.^

I thought Sakurai would keep us in suspense and not announce him until later, but I guess not.

I thought Petey Piranha was gonna be confirmed because I saw that WARNING: CHALLENGER APPROACHING but it was Diddy. It's about time.

He was denied in Melee and didn't even appear as a trophy. Now he's in Brawl and you can play him right away (I doubt he's a secret character).

He's the co-star of the DKC series and fans have been clamoring for him since before Melee. His appearance confirms NOTHING about the other characters you listed. nobody will believe me when i say that some part of me wanted diddy kong in, I fought it enough he looks good, probably a quick character Im acctually interested in DK64 now and will look for a copy or at least DL off the VC, but seeing diddy in the game means uber-sweet chars like mach rider, black knight, black shadow wont have representation in this series.... and that sucks

but ridley is coming if not sakurai and his team are fools

Also, with the unoradox movement, Jetpack, Peanut guns etc......I don't know how you don't see Diddy as being "unique"

Perhaps it is just that they're popular? Plenty of older people I know are fans of peach, and Jiggs and Pichu were huge in Japan. Thus filling the requirement for being a Nintendo star.

I can't help but get the feeling, from a brief look at some of your past posts, that you only want and can accept the "cool" characters. You've made mention of Ridley, Dark Samus, Black Shadow, Black Knight, Ganondorf and... Gray Fox, for gods sake. Seems to me that the last choice especially indicates what you want. You want broody evil coolness, when Brawl is all about bringing together all of the stars of Nintendo, the majority of who do not fit this imagined category you appear to have.

Now, I just want to say that I would like to see the majority of those characters too, so I can agree with you on that stuff, but the idea that Diddy has taken away roles from more 'deserving' characters is ludicrous until we know the full lineup. And also, Black Shadow and Gray Fox are not more deserving characters. Diddy is in fact an icon of Nintendo. Those two are not. Nor is Mach Rider, nor is Black Knight. However, the retro aspects of Mach Rider mean that I'd like to see him in. And BK in if Ganondorf doesn't use a sword.

EDIT: And to say that Diddy's appearance is standard and not in any way unique while supporting Black Shadow, a generic evil rival, and supporting him to use a cloned Falcon moveset no less, is pure hypocrisy.
