I found this today and surprised it hasn't gotten a lot more attention. DBR members are planning on writing and blogging about Melee and stuff. Right now, it's pretty empty as they're just getting started, but if things keep up to the level of Mango's blog of Genesis 2, it should be a really interesting place to read.

Check it out! :D

great read, looking forward to more mango blog posts.

We stage strike, and we go to Battlefield. Before the match starts, I have a little talk with myself. Either play really campy, lasers, grabs, safe bairs, or play like me and just go at him. I really wanted to win so I told myself I’d play campy but the match starts, I hear the crowd, and that goes RIGHT out the window at the speed of light. I decided **** IT lets dance baby. I feel that when Fox players camp Hbox it benefits him alot more. Hbox only uses one move for the most part, and when you give him the space to bair, you’re just hurting yourself. If you get in his face like I do, it takes away from his bair, since he doesn’t nair/fair as good as he bairs, he can’t get me off when I’m on him.
So super-aggro is the new Fox/Puff metagame?

You just don't let Hungrybox Bair, either by getting in his face (Mango), or staying as far away as possible (Armada).

He's cocky but he speaks truth. Makes for better reading.
The truth was that he lost and he tried covering up for it by saying how incredibly awesome he is. Mistakes are made, opponents capitalize on them, life goes on.

Don't get me wrong, he is awesome and almost no one can touch him save for the higher ups, but reading all of that kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. Like, that's the guy that I was in awe over when he's so damn insufferably cocky? idc if he's a nice guy otherwise and--dear lord as I talk I realize I'm gonna be slaughtered by everybody in here who admires Mango.

Anyway, to make a long story short...

For me? As much as he can walk the walk? I can't get behind the cut of his talk. Respect for his skill and the performances he brings to the game though, for sure.

[EDIT]

Also, Mango not 100% respecting Armada for taking advantage of a 70:30 match-up? Play to win, man. There are no rules when you're at that high of a level. S'like the people that play Phoenix or Wolverine in MvC3 or something. Don't hate the player. Hate the game if you don't like someone using a tool to their advantage to win.

Thank you Based Mimi.
The last time I saw them Puff ditto was Pound 4, which Mango won. I just want to see if Hbox could pull it out this time or if he would play differently. Same with Armada going Peach against Hbox's Puff.

Hmmmmm that's a very good question... how about I want it to happen, and then someone tell me kinda sorta how it went? :p

Though I actually do want to see Armada's Peach vs Hbox's Puff again.

as beastly as mango's fox is, i doubt it's 70/30 when armada is the peach

blog post was pretty cool. yeah he's cocky, w/e-- can hardly blame him. interested to see his opinions on matchups and what not

Mention Y-link vs Puff as a 70-30 with no experience at all in the MU and then say nothing about Peach vs Fox

:p

Well fun to read this kind of textes and I hope some more players will be doing it too =)

Great stuff. It's wonderful to see a top player actually sharing thoughts and information.

Needs to happen more often. Keep it up, Mango!

@Armada: You're one of the people who should write something.

Even in his cockiness, Mango still admitted that Armada deserved to win, which shows that he isn't johning and is owning up to his mistakes. Which to me takes the edge off of the rest of the stuff he said.

Right, admitting that Armada should have won really takes the edge off of comments like:

Mango's Poorly Written Blog said:
I just come to the conclusion that if I go Puff, he’s gonna bust out that JOKE Young Link and I really didn’t want to give the crowd that trash again.

Lol. Fox vs Peach is like 50-50.

But drillshineupsmash vs Peach is like 100-0.

I'd put $5 on Armada's YL beating Hbox's Sheik.

@Armada: I see you SDI out into dsmash vs all the other Foxes. ;)

Great read.

It was everything I expected from a Mango blog, and then some.

I hope other top players do this, too.

the learning curve for fox vs. y. link is probably much higher than sheik vs. y. link though. sheik would definitely take less time to simply pick up for the match-up and get relatively similar results most likely.

Huh...

There are Ylink's who believe it's pretty bad for Jiggs, though. I've heard 65:35, though I can't quite believe it's that bad. Maybe 60:40? *shrug*
