Theme: Recreating one of the most infamous flaws in Ghosts N Goblins on NES
Round 1:
Opponent - Yellow Donkey Kong (Color 7)
Stage - Luigi's Mansion
Themed Enemy - Big Man
Round 2:
Opponent - Lighter Hued Ganondorf (Color 6)
Stage - Omega Brinstar Depths
Themed Enemy - Woody Pig
Round 3:
Opponent - Red Meta Knight (Color 3)
Stage - Dracula's Castle
Themed Enemy - Red Arremer
Round 4:
Opponent - Yellow Donkey Kong (Color 7)
Stage - Luigi's Mansion
Themed Enemy - Big Man
Round 5:
Opponent - Lighter Hued Ganondorf (Color 6)
Stage - Omega Brinstar Depths
Themed Enemy - Woody Pig
Round 6
Opponent - Red Meta Knight (Color 3)
Stage - Dracula's Castle
Themed Enemy - Red Arremer
Boss
Dracula
Boss Reason
The Final Boss of Ghosts N Goblins has many similarities to Dracula.
NOTE:
Firebrand from Gargoyle's Quest will be the next character I do. Firebrand himself is a Red Arremer and Gargoyle's Quest is a spin-off of Ghouls N Ghosts. So in the event that Arthur and Firebrand both would be DLC, then replace the Meta Knight fights in this run with Firebrand.
I said I'd do Firebrand next. Now it's time to do so.
Gargoyle's Quest
Theme: Emulating the plot of Gargoyle's Quest where Firebrand must return to and save the Ghoul Realm before the portal to it closes.
Round 1:
Opponent - Arthur
Stage - Whatever they'd pick for a Ghosts N Goblins Stage
Themed Boss - I normally try to avoid using characters and stages that aren't in the game. But given how well the idea of Firebrand meshes with Arthur, I'll make an exception here. Won't be using a Gargoyle's Quest stage in this route though.
Round 2:
Opponent - Green Squirtle (Color 3)
Stage - Castle Siege
Themed Boss - Zundo Druer
Round 3:
Opponent - White Dark Samus (Color 6)
Stage - Great Plateau Tower
Themed Boss - Four-Eyes
Round 4:
Opponent - Yellow Ridley (Color 7)
Stage - Hyrule Castle
Themed Boss - Bellzemos
Round 5:
Opponent - White Bowser (Color 5)
Stage - Battlefield Mushroomy Kingdom
Themed Boss - Zakku Druzer
Round 6
Opponent - Default Ganondorf (Color 1)
Stage - Dracula's Castle
Themed Boss - Rushifell
Boss
Ganon
Boss Reason
Ganon best resembles Breager. The main antagonist of Gargoyle's Quest.
Peony: Sweet Dreams (Fights nightmarish-looking creatures with the help of other characters) Round 1: x10 (Wireframe) on (Snowman) Round 2: (team battle w/) on (Boss Battle 4 - Metroid: Samus Returns) Round 3: Giant (team battle w/) on Magicant (Porky's Theme) Round 4: (team battle w/) on Wii Fit Studio (I'll Face Myself) Round 5: (team battle w/) on (Vs. Meta Ridley) Round 6: x5 on Luigi's Mansion (On the Hunt ~Gloomy Manor Ver.~ (Instrumental)) Final Round: Dracula
Theme: Fighting the characters who, as babies, were the Star Children in Yoshi's Island DS. Except for Bowser for obvious reasons.
NOTE: All Opponents will use their Default Color Scheme. Except for Wario who uses Color 2. Which is his default appearance in Mario games.
Round 1:
Opponent - Peach
Stage - Peach's Castle
Round 2:
Opponent - Luigi
Stage - Tortimer Island
Round 3:
Opponent - Mario
Stage - Yoshi's Island (Melee)
Round 4:
Opponent - Donkey Kong
Stage - Yoshi's Island
Round 5:
Opponent - Wario
Stage - Yoshi's Story
Round 6
Opponent - Yoshi
Stage - Super Happy Tree
Boss
Master Hand & Crazy Hand
Boss Reason
While not intentionally, Master Hand and Crazy Hand did play a part in abducting Trophies and Spirits in the Adventure Mode's of Brawl and Ultimate. Just like how Kamek plays a role in abducting the baby characters in the Yoshi's Island games.
Theme: Fighting the characters who, as babies, were the Star Children in Yoshi's Island DS. Except for Bowser for obvious reasons.
NOTE: All Opponents will use their Default Color Scheme. Except for Wario who uses Color 2. Which is his default appearance in Mario games.
Round 1:
Opponent - Peach
Stage - Peach's Castle
Round 2:
Opponent - Luigi
Stage - Tortimer Island
Round 3:
Opponent - Mario
Stage - Yoshi's Island (Melee)
Round 4:
Opponent - Donkey Kong
Stage - Yoshi's Island
Round 5:
Opponent - Wario
Stage - Yoshi's Story
Round 6
Opponent - Yoshi
Stage - Super Happy Tree
Boss
Master Hand & Crazy Hand
Boss Reason

Urbosa got one of these at some point. How about the other chamions? One at a time though, and not in a row. I think I'll start with Revali.
A True Champion
Theme: Based on Revali pompously thinking he's better than Link, the idea here is Revali proving himself to be the best by fighting other characters that are a Champion of sorts.
NOTE: All Opponents will use their Default Color Scheme. Except for the opponent in Round 5 who uses Color 2.
Round 1:
Opponent - Link
Stage - Hyrule Castle
Champion of - Obviousness. And by that I mean this fight just represents Revali and Link's rivalry
Round 2:
Opponent - Captain Falcon
Stage - Mute City SNES
Champion of - The F-Zero Grand Prix
Round 3:
Opponent - Pokemon Trainer
Stage - Kalos Pokemon League
Champion of - The Pokemon League
Round 4:
Opponent - Ryu
Stage - Suzaku Castle
Champion of - The World Warrior Tournament
Round 5:
Opponent - Ike
Stage - Colisuem
Champion of - The People of Fire Emblems Radiant Era. He is the Radiant Hero of Legend after all.
Round 6
Opponent - Meta Knight
Stage - Halberd
Champion of - The Universe. Galacta Knight was the strongest warrior in said universe, but then Meta Knight defeated him.
Boss
Rathalos
Boss Reason
Monster Hunter is home to fabled creatures that take legendary hunters to slay. Whether or not Rathalos is one of them I don't know and would honestly doubt, but it is the only Monster Hunter Boss in the game.
Ogma: The Loyal Sellsword (Fights characters who are mercenaries or simply look for money; all battles are team battles with Fire Emblem characters) Round 1: (team battle w/) on (The Devoted) Round 2: (team battle w/) on Midgar (Let the Battles Begin!) Round 3: (team battle w/) on (WarioWare, Inc. Medley) Round 4: (team battle w/) on (Theme of Samus Aran, Space Warrior) Round 5: (team battle w/) on (Encounter) Round 6: (team battle w/) on Coliseum (Advance) Final Round: Master Hand and Crazy Hand (team battle w/)
Steel thy Shovel! It's time for a Shovel Knight Route
Warriors of Far Lands
Theme: Based on the cameos of Kratos and the Battletoads in the Playstation and Xbox versions of Shovel Knight, the opponents here are Nintendo (and some 3rd party) characters that would make a good cameo event like that for Shovel Knight.
NOTE: All Opponents will use their Default Color Scheme.
Did you know that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 has a main protagonist? Her name is Ruby Heart and she's an original character made exclusively for MvC2. That's the character whose route I'm doing today.
Nintendo vs. Capcom
Theme: Mirroring the 3v3 fights of MvC, Ruby Heart will always have Mega Man and Ken (Color 1 for both of them) as allies in team battles against various 3 Nintendo Character combos.
Round 1:
Opponents - Default Mario (Color 1), Tunic of the Wild Link (Color 2), Default Pikachu (Color 1)
Stage - Battlefield
Character Combo - The mascots of Nintendo's 3 biggest series
Round 2:
Opponents - Default Ice Climbers (Color 1), NES R.O.B. in America, Famicom R.O.B. in Japan (AKA The Color 1 of the corresponding region), Default Duck Hunt (Color 1)
Stage - Wrecking Crew
Character Combo - NES Wonders
Round 3:
Opponents - The promotional designs for all 3 Mii Fighters
Ms. PAC-MAN: Super Bash Sisters (Fights female counterparts to some characters) Round 1: on Wii Fit Studio (PAC-MAN) Round 2: on PAC-LAND Ω (PAC-MAN (Club Mix)) Round 3: on Mario Galaxy (Galaga Medley) Round 4: x4 on Town and City (Mappy Medley) Round 5: on Moray Towers (PAC-MAN’S PARK / BLOCK TOWN) Round 6: (Libre) on Boxing Ring (Area 1 (Dragon Spirit)) Final Round: Master Hand (& Crazy Hand, on 7.0 or higher)
If we were to get a Dragalia Lost character in Smash, who would it be?
The Answer:
Euden. Duh. But the dragonblood prince is far from the only good character in Nintendo's best mobile game.
Today it's time for a route for the Goddess herself, Ilia.
THAT BEING SAID
This route is going to cover most key events from Ilia's role within the story. Most of which were revealed in the limited time Forgotten Truths event.
So if you'd rather avoid spoilers, scroll down to the very end of this post and move to the next post to avoid them. It will say "end of post" in all caps to signify when you're safe.
You're warning starts here.
Tale of the Goddess
Theme: Recreating the battles from the Forgotten Truths event.
Round 1:
Opponents - 3 Mii Gunners that wear the Bionic Helmet Headgear and the Special Forces Outfit
Stage - Midgar
Themed Battle - The soldiers who seek to capture Ilia
Round 2:
Opponents - Dark Link (Color 8), Violet Dark Samus (Color 3), and Enderman
Stage - Windy Hill Zone
Themed Battle - The fiends that appear after Ilia first meets Zethia
Round 3:
Opponents - 2 Mii Brawlers that wear the Bionic Helmet Headgear and the Bionic Suit Outfit, America Color R.O.B. (Color 1 in America, Color 2 in Japan)
Stage - Castle Siege
Themed Battle - The Combat Androids that Augus sends to burn the forest and provoke the Dragons.
Round 4:
Opponents - Green Ridley (Color 5), White Bowser (Color 5), Black King K. Rool (Color 6)
Stage - Omega Norfair
Themed Battle - Provoked Dragons that aim to destroy the capital. Ridley is Stribog, Bowser is Lindworm, and K. Rool is Juggernaut to be specific.
Round 5:
Opponent - Yellow Ivysaur (Color 5)
Stage - Omega Venom
Themed Battle - Zephyr
Round 6:
Opponent - Default Palutena (Color 1)
Stage - Skyloft
Themed Battle - Elysium. I know there's no actual fight against Elysium in Forgotten Truths. But there is a conflict between him and Ilia so I took a creative liberty.
Boss
Dracula
Boss Reason
Dracula is a scarily good match with Morsayati. Not only does Dragalia Lost's Main Antagonist look like a monster form Dracula would take, but Dracula's Origin as Mathias Cronqvist is very similar to Morsayati's Origin as Mordecai.
The protagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles 1 is Shulk.
The protagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles X is...........well people say it's the player created avatar but is that actually true? I hear from some people who, unlike me, have played X that your avatar is just along for the ride, and that in terms of story events Elma is honestly more of a protagonist. Elma's the X character people ask for in regards to Smash either way though. So meh.
And the protagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is Rex.
That's all 3 Xenoblade games. So that means the series has 3 main protagonists right?
Wrong.
Torna the Golden Country may be within the same universe and story as Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and in of itself is a DLC expansion to that game (though it did get a separate release version) but it does have a different protagonist in the form of Lora. And that's the route I'll be doing today.
The Paragons Knight
Theme: Key Battles in Torna: The Golden Country
Round 1:
Opponent - Blue R.O.B. (Color 5)
Stage - Brinstar
Themed Battle - Malos' Artifice
Round 2:
Opponent - Rex
Stage - Omega Brinstar Depths
Themed Battle - Addam and Mythra
NOTE: Rex isn't playable in Ultimate as of this moment, but given that Golden Country is an expansion to Xenoblade 2, I'm fairly confident that if Lora does get in, Rex will already be there. I try to avoid using characters that aren't in the game yet in these routes, but I see enough reason to make an exception with this one.

Basically, the avatar (Cross) is the perspective character, but Elma drives the plot and has surpassed them in other appearances anyways. It's quite telling that she takes center role in the 10th anniversary artwork and is the sole XCX character in the XC2 DLC.

It doesn't seem so cut and dry. Two examples that come to mind are the Sherlock Holmes novels and short stories (which are generally told from Watson's perspective, but Sherlock is clearly the protagonist) and the anime/manga Fairy Tail (where Lucy is the viewpoint character, but Natsu is the one who gets the narrative focus, has personal connections to the main villains, etc.).
...I honestly didn't expect I'd ever use those two series as examples for the same thing. Regardless, Cross seems to fill the same role as Watson or Lucy, where they're a relatively normal person who is used to introduce the world and/or characters. (at least, in my limited experience with Xenoblade Chronicles X) It seems telling that Elma's generally used as the face of Xenoblade Chronicles X, whether it's in XC2 or in anniversary artwork.
Anyway to stay on topic... here's one for the Crewmate from Among Us, who I envision as being one with the Impostor. Classic Mode: Who is the Impostor?
All matches take place on the Skeld, in various formats. Once again, it’s all other spacemen (or characters from games with intergalactic elements, at least), but this time it’s an 8 player match that slowly shrinks more and more.
Vs. Samus, Fox, Kirby, Captain Falcon, Olimar, Rosalina (Normal Skeld)
Vs. Samus, Fox, Kirby, Captain Falcon, Olimar (Rosalina was not the Impostor.) (Hazardless Skeld)
Vs. Samus, Fox, Kirby, Captain Falcon (Olimar was not the Impostor.) (Battlefield Skeld)
Vs. Samus, Fox, Kirby (Captain Falcon was not the Impostor.) (Omega Skeld)
Vs. Dark Samus w/ Fox (Kirby was not the Impostor.) (Hazardless Skeld)
Changes based on if you picked Crewmate or Impostor. (Normal Skeld)
If Crewmate: Vs. Impostor w/ Fox (Dark Samus was the Impostor.)
If Impostor: Vs. Fox
Bonus Game
Marx
Marx pretends to be an innocent creature but is actually somewhat monster-like. Or in other words, an Impostor of a sort.
Another option is the Hands, as the Crewmates have disembodied hands.
So Crypt of the Necrodancer is not owned by Nintendo. But Octavo is from Cadence of Hyrule. Which features Zelda characters. So who owns the character of Octavo?
My guess is the owner of Crypt of the Necrodancer. Cadence of Hyrule is a Zelda Themed version of Crypt of the Necrodancer. As the "ft. The Legend of Zelda" part of the title makes clear.
But regardless of who owns Octavo, I'm going to do a route for him today. This will be another example of a character that I don't think would make it in until after a different character within the franchise. Firebrand I believe would come after Arthur, Lora I believe would come after Rex, and Octavo I believe would come after Cadence. So Cadence herself will be used in this route for that reason.
But unlike Arthur and Rex, I haven't done a Cadence route. A big part of why I haven't is because I think Paraster
already did a great route for her earlier in this thread. So allow me to give my thanks to them for that.
On to Octavo's route.
Ode to the Future
Theme: Mimicking Octavo's Quest to recruit Champions to defeat Ganon.
Round 1:
Opponents - Red, Blue, and Green Bayonetta (Colors 6, 8, and 4)
Stage - Great Bay
Themed Battle - The Fates
Round 2:
Opponent - Blue Robin (Color 5)
Stage - Summit
Themed Battle - Wizzroboe
Round 3:
Opponent - Red-ish Ivysaur (Color 2)
Stage - Distant Planet
Themed Battle - Gohmaracas
Round 4:
Opponent - Yellow Bowser (Color 3)
Stage - Unova Pokemon League
Themed Battle - Gleeokenspiel
Round 5:
Opponents - Roy Colored Marth (Color 6), Default Roy (Color 1), Default Ike (Color 1)
Stage - Gerudo Valley
Themed Battle - Bass Guitarmos Knights
Round 6:
Opponents - Cadence, Tunic of the Wild Link (Color 2), Default Zelda (Color 1)
Stage - Hyrule Castle
Themed Battle - Octavo's Clash with the Heroes at, well, Hyrule Castle.
Boss
Ganon
Boss Reason
Defeating Ganon is the entire motivation for Octavo's actions in Cadence of Hyrule

My guess is the owner of Crypt of the Necrodancer. Cadence of Hyrule is a Zelda Themed version of Crypt of the Necrodancer. As the "ft. The Legend of Zelda" part of the title makes clear.
You like digging in treasure troves? Well let's dig around in the Shovel Knight Treasure Trove and do a route for Plague Knight.
Supreme Smash Serum
Theme: In Plague of Shadows, Plague Knight seeks to craft the Ultimate Potion by collecting the Essences of Shovel Knight and the other bad guys. What is an essence? Well that's never 100% explained but apparently they're a manifestation of someone's strongest traits. Like Treasure Knight's Greed. So that's what we're focusing on today. Opponents who have a notable trait.
NOTE: All characters will have their default color palettes
Round 1:
Opponent - Link
Stage - Great Plateau Tower
Trait - Courageous
Round 2:
Opponent - Wario
Stage - Warioware Inc.
Trait - Greed
Round 3:
Opponent - Bowser
Stage - Paper Mario
Trait - Persistance
Round 4:
Opponent - Lucas
Stage - New Pork City
Trait - Shy
Round 5:
Opponent - Joker
Stage - Mementos
Trait - Charisma
Round 6:
Opponent - Robin
Stage - Arena Ferox
Trait - Resourcefulness
Boss
Dracula
Boss Reason
Dracula emulates the Enchantress the best. Also covers the trait of "Evil".
I think it's about time I did one of these for a Pokemon. I'll pick Espeon for this one.
The Future is Now
Theme: Based on Espeon's Psychic Typing and occasional descriptions of having precognition, Espeon will fight characters who are playable now, but weren't playable in previous titles despite being considered.
NOTE: All characters will have their default color palettes
Round 1:
Opponent - Bowser
Stage - Mushroom Kingdom
Round 2:
Opponent - Marth
Stage - Temple
Round 3:
Opponent - Snake
Stage - Shadow Moses Island
Round 4:
Opponent - Pac-Man
Stage - Pac-Land
Round 5:
Opponent - Chrom
Stage - Arena Ferox
Round 6:
Opponent - Ridley
Stage - Norfair
Boss
Master Hand and Crazy Hand
Boss Reason
Given this routes theme of fighting Smash characters who made it in after being passed on when considered for previous titles, the classic Smash Bros. Boss just made sense.
I said I'd do a route for each BotW champion other than Urbosa (mainly because Perkilator
already did a good Urbosa route) but so far I've only done Revali. It's been a little bit since I did so let's do Mipha's route now.
Zora Princess
Theme: Fighting Opponents who emulate bosses that have terrorized Zora's across multiple Zelda games. Not just Breath of the Wild. Due to that, almost every stage will be a Water Stage of some sort. There will be a couple of exceptions to that however. Which is why I'm going to add the reasons for each chosen stage this time. And since I've decided to go the extra mile for that, I'll go another extra mile and include a music track for each round this time.
Round 1:
Opponent - Pink Piranha Plant (Color 4)
Themed Boss - Barinade
Stage - Fountain of Dreams
Stage Reason - Barinade is the boss of Jabu Jabu's Belly. And you find Jabu Jabu in Zora's Fountain in Ocarina of Time.
Stage Reason - While not appearing until after you save the Zora's in Oracle of Ages, there is still a pirate ship that needs to be explored to beat the game. Plus the Pirate Ship stage is sailing on the sea. And to get to the Zora's in Oracle of Ages, you have to travel through the sea.
Stage Reason - The Sage of Earth who was killed in Wind Waker to rob the Master Sword of it's power was a Zora. The Sage of Earth resided in the Earth Temple, where Jalhalla is also the boss. Temple is the best emulation of that location.
Stage Reason - The Twilit Bloat may be a mini-boss, but it still holds the last tear of light needed to save Zora's Domain from it's curse. And since said curse froze it over Summit is the best bet.
Ganon is the leader/creator of almost all of the bosses who have terrorized the Zora's in the Zelda series. Barinade was the result of a curse Ganon inflicted on Jabu Jabu, Veran cursed the seas where the Zora's reside in Oracle of Ages but she works for Ganon, Zant cursed Zora's Domain in Twilight Princess but he works for Ganon. Gyorg is the only boss emulated in this route who doesn't fall under Ganon's command.
Adol: Bump in the Road (Fights characters whose attacks hurt themselves; this is a reference to Ys I and II's bump system, where you damage both yourself and the enemy when you attack head-on) Round 1: x7 (horde battle) on Pokemon Stadium (First Step Towards Wars) Round 2: on Prism Tower (Palace of Destruction) Round 3: on Coliseum (Dreaming) Round 4: on (Tower of the Shadow of Death) Round 5: (free-for-all) on Boxing Ring (King Dedede's Theme (Brawl)) Round 6: Adol on Darm Tower (Theme of Adol) Final Round:
(the theme is various characters that have to do with death/dying, the underworld, or fate)
Round 1: vs. Shulk on Gaur Plains
Round 2: vs. Snake on Shadow Moses Island
Round 3: vs. Sonic on Windy Hill Zone
Round 4: vs. Ridley and Dark Samus on Frigate Orpheon
Round 5: vs. Mario, Peach, and Bowser on Paper Mario
Round 6: vs. Pit, Dark Pit, and Palutena on Palutena's Temple
Bonus Round
Boss: vs. Dracula
