Snip and resolder the cable either next to the jack or next to your head, depending on which end you have to move to get the sound to come through. If that's too much work for you, buy a set of headphones with a removable cord. They're a lot more expensive, but $50-$70 for something that can last you several years is a lot cheaper in the long run than paying $20 every few months. If you're technically savvy, you could mod some of your existing headphones to have a removable cord.]
