I warmed up to the event a little after playing it. I'll admit that it was kind of funny, and it also makes me feel better that Xander feels the same way about the event and his new costume that I do. I'm stil not going to do a summoming until a new focus event starts. I hope the Against Navarre focus has someone I like.
Back on the topic of Lucina...I guess that part of the reason I'm so upset is that she's actually my single favorite FE Lord, mostly because of her character. And I like her silly side to, especially considering how serious she usually is. It's because I like her character that makes me care about how she's depicted so much. I don't want to have to be embarrassed for liking something, but these days FE seems to be embarrassing me intentionally.
The event is funny, in a sort of embarrassing, eye-rolling w/face palm, stupid way. I personally think the whole thing is a tawdry affair, and I'd prefer it if they had spared Lucina the indignity of participating in this event. But it's not a big deal for me. I would've liked to see the effort they put into the art go towards something better, but whatever.
I like when people complain about "waifu simulator" with the marriages thing and children units and I am like "the GBA games did all of that before it was.... not cool I guess...."
Yeah, I basically considered the marriages, etc., in Awakening to be a logical expansion on the previous system. The kids were fine, because they fit the story. The kids in Fates, though, that was nonsense the way they handled that...
Yes it is but it doesn't bother me much since I felt Alexis Tipton gaved the strongest vocal performance out of the four va's showned off in the trailer so much so that I couldn't even tell that laura bailey got replaced until I read the va's name below.
My favorite character is Knoll from Sacred Stones. I could go on and on about how I love his premise as a character and why he acts the way he does.
If I recall correctly, a flashback scene showed that, under Lyon's orders, he was the one who removed the barrier protecting the dark stone. The guy accidently killed his prince and unleashed and eldrich abomination upon the world, and he knows it.
Also summoning and endless supply of flying canon fodder is fun, if not borderline broken. I'm surprised that everyone seems to think summoners suck so much.
My second favorite character is Knuckles. Unlike Sonic, he doesn't chuckle.

At the same time though, marriage sort of restricts what they can do with paired endings. With the GBA system, my favorite endings were often those with no marriage or romance mentioned at all. Amelia and Duessel's ending together would be way worse if they were restricted to being a creepy couple.
Of course, I never liked the old GBA's 5-support restriction at all. And lengthy chats about life back home while in the middle of the battlefield is just plain sily. If S-supports weren't restricted to marriage, I would actually be thrilled by our modern system. In fact, I'll even admit that Awakening has the better support system overall, even though I feel it took a few steps backwards in some regards.
Favorite character in all of FE? Hmm...
There are a ton of characters that I love. Lyn, Hector, Jaffar, Karel, Lute, Vanessa (I don't know why I love her so much, but I turned her into a super-BA Wyvern Knight in my last playthrough of SS, and no one could touch her, she even killed Valter), Titania, Lethe, Bastion, Lucia, tons more.
From the more recent games I like Chrom, Lucina, Tharja (gasp!), Lon'qu, Cherche, Inigo, Lissa, Owain/Odin, Ryoma, Xander, Camilla (GASP!), Rhajat (GAAAAASP!!), Setsuna, and Leo. Also Noire. I really love the Blood and the Thunder. Lover to train her up as an assassin with high bow/sword ranks and just turn her loose on an entire army and watch her butcher them with crit after crit, while laughing maniacally.
But I just can't bring myself to like Takumi. Yeah, I can get not trusting Corrin, but you don't have to be a total d**k every time you open your mouth.
All hope of me ever liking him was lost when he aims at and shoots a clearly unarmed child (Elise) with his broken OP god-bow on the Nohr path, and I don't think he was possessed at this point, so he didn't have that as an excuse.

He was definitely possessed by that point when he shot Elise, or at the very least Anankos was beginning to mess with his mind. He showed signs of possession as early as Chapter 10.
And Elise is an active participant at that point in the war who goes as far as staying in the front lines, not as an innocent bystander. There's also the fact Elise is a princess to the enemy nation that attacked Takumi's home, not to mention Garon doesn't want to negotiate.
I wasn't a fan of that scene either, but I'm just trying to give some perspective on why Takumi did what he did in that scene.
OK! SO, NEW ECHOES INFO WAS REVEALED! AND THIS IS ARGUABLY THE BIGGEST CHANGE TO GAIDEN!
So before we begin, let me offer some info. On April 27th, an official strategy guide will be released for the game in Japan. And part of the description reads "The core section of this book, the tactics section, covers Chapters 1 to 5, as well as the new Chapter 6 added after the ending, and includes detailed battle maps with strategies geared for Normal mode play. Of course, Hard mode tips will be provided. Also included are all the items obtained from base and village events, as well as dungeon maps."
Chapter 6. Chapter 6! There was no Chapter 6 in the original Gaiden! Now of course, Chapter 6 is post-game content but this is pretty big. Now, as for what Chapter 6 is, i think it's likely that it's an enhanced version of Sacred Stones' Creature Campaign, which was also post-game content, not to mention both games heavily featured monsters. But i also do feel like Ch.6 will be it's own post-game short story, and one where Alm and Celica's parties combine, which, as a bonus, can lead to Supports between characters that are normally not together. Who knows, maybe Echoes pulls a reverse Awakening in Ch.6 by traveling east to the continent of Archanea, the continent where Marth's games take place (as well as Awakening 2000 years later).
So, who's everyone planning on supporting in the next voting gauntlet of wyverns vs. pegasi? I'm obviously going to support Minerva (the princess of Macedon, NOT Cherche's wyvern...). I'm also seriously hoping that she isn't paired against Camilla in the first round, that would be lame, we would just be bamboobzled. You all should support Team Minerva too!
I think that it's funny that they just randomly threw in Subaki. I expect he'll produce a worse showing than Alfonse. Despite my innumerable Subaki summons, I will not be supporting him. Nope.

I want to support Hinoka, but I have a feeling that Camilla is going to sweep this cleanly.
So... as much as I don't want to, I think I'll support Camilla just for free feathers. It sounds petty, but I just think she will easily win...

I'm probably going for Team Hinoka for most of the competition because I'm a fan of her character, and assuming she will fight against Camilla at some point, that's probably when I will switch over, but only for the free feathers.
Speaking of Subaki, he's one of my main units. Despite that, I'm probably not going to go on his team because I can already tell he will get swamped in the first round. If I had to choose another Pegasus Knight assuming Hinoka doesn't pull through, I'll stick with Cordelia, and if Camilla doesn't win amongst the Wyverns, I might join either Team Minerva or Cherche depending on who does better.
I think the most probable outcome is that the final match will be between Camilla and Cordelia, and that Camilla will have a solid win. Why? First, Camilla ranked higher in the "Choose Your Heroes" ballot, which means that she has a larger committed fanbase than Cordelia. That's certainly not dispositive, since Cordelia also did quite well on the ballot. So Camilla has a slight edge from the start of the analysis.
But then let's look at Camilla's appearances in Heroes. She's been featured in two Focus banners so far, and has two sets of artwork. And both sets are very high quality. While one might not like Camilla, one can easily recognize that the artwork for her is high quality. In contrast, Cordelia hasn't been featured in a Focus yet, and her artwork isn't great. This means that people are more likely to have Camilla, and that people previously unacquainted with the characters are just probably going to side with Camilla. Camilla also has the benefit of being the perceived easy winner, so people wanting feathers are going to join her team. Cordelia may benefit some from anti-Camilla sentiment, but I don't think that it's big enough to make a difference.
Thus, in conclusion, I believe I have convincingly argued that you all should join Team Minerva, as it is the best team. Don't join Team T*ts or Team Fake T*ts (Cordelia's breastplate is a lie!), join the princess that strikes with clarity from on high (anyone get that pun?).
Guys, honestly.
Support who you like. You may not get as many "end" feathers (aka 500 per won round).
But you likely can get a high ranking (2000 feathers+ I think?) Within this little support thing.
So don't bandwagon, really. Just choose what you like.

Hmm. I want to support Minvera since she was amazing in Marth's games. I want to support Camilla because she's gonna win I don't actually hate her and i appreciate that she has a legitimate reason for obsessing over Corrin. But I also want to support Palla as a way to celebrate Echoes' upcoming release, as the Whitewing sisters are in that game.
Camilla was right under Lucina at the ballot, the winner of this gaunlet is as obvious as the last one was, I don't get why they put this one huge fan favorite to crush everybody else....
Since they are doing it, I also don't get why they didn't put Lyn yet, maybe they are waiting Ike to make his debut so that gaunlet will be actually competitive, but then again, they like to put just that one ass whooper to destroy the dreams of all the other heroes.
Also, I just had 2 sets of summons with nothing but colorless and blue orbs, when I'm trying to get a Ryoma and Camilla for my Fates team *sigh*

Every little bit counts.
It just seems... obvious to me who's going to win that supporting anyone else is kinda difficult. I want to support Cordelia or Hinoka, but I feel like this will be a clean sweep for Camilla. If we get something like Chrom vs. Ephraim, it would be a miracle.
In Fire Emblem Echoes news, some people have already gotten the game early and started to data-mine it.
One of the data-mined information reveals significant new information relating to additions to Echoes story, particularly the post-game.
It reveals that Chapter 6 will have you visit the western half of the Archanenan continent, specifically the Feroxi Ports and the Thabes Underground labyrinth.
Inside the Thabes Labyrinth, you will explore 10 floors, and on the way down, you will encounter various stone tablets that reveal some suprising information. At the very bottom, you fight a super boss called "Construct," and this boss is in reality...
A proto Grima!
It even has a similar portrait to Grima's head, and you can view that portrait right here.
What is most interesting about the post-game is that it explains Grima's origins. The stone tablets reveal that Grima was created from an insane alchemist named Forneus. Forneus was researching life and death and created the Risen Soldiers and Grima. It appears that Grima is a Dragon Zombie infused with divine dragon blood. This is heavily implied from the texts on the stone tablets.
You don't know how glad I am they finally expanded on Grima's backstory. That was one of my biggest problems with Awakening back then, where at the time, Grima seemed nothing more than a generic doomsday villain with no backstory whatsoever.

With respect to trying to summon Camilla, you should probably hold onto your orbs and wait for the gauntlet banner, where she'll be a focus character. EDIT: Nvm, I just logged in and the banner is up.
In re the gauntlet, I don't think this one is as obvious as the last one. Lucina got over 1.5x as many votes as Camilla in the Choose Your Heroes; indeed, Lucina got more votes than #4 Camilla and #7 Cordelia combined. To draw a comparison from the last gauntlet, Camilla and Chrom got a similar number of votes, and Ephraim and Cordelia got a similar number of votes. If you tally in Caeldori's votes into Cordelia's column, the numbers are even closer. So the possibility of this being close isn't *totally* out of the question.
In terms of the other characters, none of them stand a remote chance of winning the gauntlet, but how they're matched might make the first round interesting. Palla vs. Subaki might be close, and Minerva vs. Beruka might be as well. Cordelia and Camilla will just roflstomp whoever they're paired with. (I'm assuming that the format for this gauntlet will follow the setup of the previous one, where the teams face-off against other members of their teams first.)
I wish that, in future gauntlets, they'll eventually get around to picking contestants that all have a rough parity in popularity.

Good luck getting Ryoma.
Like Hector, he's a myth. I've tried many times to get Ryoma, but Lobster Lord doesn't want to come home.
Ryoma owner here. -def +atk.
He is definitely rare, but hector is calculatory even rarer. Simply because green units rare rates are very low.
And, what reason for? Being in the winner team, gives you about 500 feathers times 4.
Being in any other team, and being 'active' supporter with the flags, gives you 2000+ feathers, depending how active you were.
And its far easier to reach a decent supporting rang onto not heavily popular characters. And if they win, 500 feathers in addition with 2000!
Add in that there are so many salty camilla haters, I'd say it truly is not decided.

You need to take into account all the "I will vote on the winner" people.... they blow the numbers of the character most likely to win out of proportion, blowing them more with each passing turn....
Just poured my orb collection into trying to summon Minerva again, seeing as she's a focus character in the banner. What do I get? Cherche. AGAIN. (At least she's 5-stars though...) At this point, it's pretty clear that I'll just be summoning Cherche forever. Cherche will be the new Subaki. I'm now up to 6 Cherches. Fml.

Oh good, i'm not the only one who spoiled myself that.
I actually saw a lot of Echoes spoilers today but most of it I already knew, mainly because i've played Gaiden. And then there's the stuff that's just easy guessing such as
Celica having a brother. She didn't have a brother in the original Gaiden but the moment we saw that red-haired masked knight in that 7 minute trailer Japan got, it was obvious
Gaiden's final map theme was already legendary. Echoes took it and made it omnipotent. No lie, the Echoes soundtrack is reaching Xenoblade levels of amazingness.
Aside from that stuff, here are some, non-spoilery stuff we found out, also btw, since the full game has leaked online, today starts the day of spoiler dodging. It's only a matter of time before big spoiler thumbnails start appearing on YouTube. Anyway, on to the non-spoiler info:
Characters have listed ages now. And the ages are surprising. I mean, you have your expected ages, such as Alm and Celica being 17, Faye's 18, Kliff's 15. But then you have Leon, who's 24, Clive's 27, his girlfriend, Matilda, is 28, and Saber's 34. The youngest of the cast is Delthea, who's only 13. Oh and these ages aren't just for show. There are alchohol-related items that only characters in their 20s and older can use and these are gonna be cut from the localization, aren't they?
Actually, if that does end up happening, wouldn't surprise me. Remember Super Mario Kart?
Now, i don't know the exact details, but it seems Support conversations are once again limited per playthrough. This time, it's 26 Supports per playthrough. And before you say that's a downgrade from Awakening and Fates, while it kinda is, Echoes' cast of playable characters is only slightly bigger than Gaiden's and Gaiden's known for having the smallest cast in the series. So it's not really a loss imo. That being said, in addition to Support conversations, Base Conversations from Tellius and New Mystery are returning, as well as memory fragments that offer further development and backstory to characters.
In the original Gaiden, character endings, while very basic, changed slightly depending on which characters died. Catria's ending, for example, would change if one or both of her sisters died. Now, we all know that when a character dies, they have a death quote. That continues in Echoes but there's a catch. Should that character die near a friend/family member/lover, that other character will react to their death. Say for example, Clive dies near Matilda, his girlfriend. In additon to Clive's death quote, Matilda will have a quote reacting to Clive's death, so it's twice the heartbreak. Oh and these are fully voiced btw, so it's actually triple the heartbreak. Man, while perma-death has been Fire Emblem's signature mechanic, Echoes is the first game in the series to truly make it a consequence of war. So this time, more than ever, every decison you make counts! Or you could just play Casual Mode.
What do you think I am? Bayonetta player?
But seriously, about the age, those are all Japanese ages, right? We can expect them to be 2 times older in the english release then. Also, about the alcohol, I thought for a moment that Echoes was the game that is getting alcohol warning from the rating guys for the first time in its series, but I guess I am confusing that with Breath of the Wild....
I'm probably going to vote for Hinoka, but I'm not sure. None of my absolute favorites are here.
As far as age and alcohol in Exhoes goes, I dkubt those will get censored too heavily, if at all. FE targets itself at teenagers and adults almost exclusively these days, and I'm like 99% sure the only reason face-petting and swimsuits were removed from Fates was because of, ironically, the horrible backlash the fanbase responded to it with. Even Elise wasn't technically aged up, since they never said how old an adult is in Nohr.
I still don't think its legitimate that she doesn't dote on the also motherless and twice-as-cute Elise half as much as she does on Corrin, but whatever.
Same actually, since 8-4 is handling the localization and not the Treehouse. The only bad 8-1 localization was Azure Striker Gunvolt 1 but that's because Inti Creates wanted the game out quickly. Thankfully, Inti Creates listened to feedback and evetually added a patch a few months ago that re-translated the whole game to make the localization better (the Steam version released after the 3DS version had the better localization from the get-go).
Mine isn't because my wallet is still recovering from being drained by the Switch+BotW. I have $15 so i need roughly $25 more for Echoes. On the bright side, i have the Roy Amiibo, and his battle theme in Echoes is amazing. Makes me wish for a Binding Blade remake.

Roy's remixed theme is amazing, and I'm hoping for a remake of Binding Blade + FE7 too. Roy is one of the most popular FE characters worldwide, because of Smash. It's baffling that he hasn't seen an official game appearance in the West, yet (not counting babby Roy at the end of FE7).
Plus it would practically guarantee that he remains in Smash, too...

They could even pull an FE4 with the Elibe remake, and have some of the pairings in FE7 affect the stats and such of the units in FE6. Like, for example, if Eliwood marries Ninian, then Roy would have access to an Ice Dragonstone (ironic considering that his signature weapon slays Dragons with fire).
Roy's ties to Smash are so big now, that it would be stupid for him to not be in Smash. I mean, his attack animations in Echoes are taken from Smash 4. One of his attacks is his Jab, and another resembles is F-Smash. And all his new artwork is directly inspired by his Smash 4 design.

This would be ideal. We could have "Fire Emblem Echoes: Legends of Elibe" or something. The first half would be a remake of FE7, and the second half would be Binding Blade, making for a truly enormous FE game. Your choices/deaths etc. in FE7 could effect your run in FE6.
If Roy ever gets cut (again), I'll be super-pissed. They brought him back, gave him a sweet redesign (that's been used for every one of his subsequent appearances), and even decloned him to an extent. There's no reason he shouldn't be a Smash mainstay from now on. I'm more worried for Corrin than for him, mostly because of all the b****ing about her (as I feel like being multi-game vets, even as DLC, will move Mewtwo, Roy, and Lucas up the priority totem pole next time, especially Mewtwo, who is actually iconic, there is LITERALLY no reason he should ever be cut, again), but I'm hoping that her uniqueness and the fact that Fates is the best selling FE game to date will keep her around.
The Japanese game leaked, we have portraits, supports, music, gameplay footage, all that good stuff, so spoilers abound. Also, amiibo data. Both and are summonable via amiibo (no yet, she'd likely be patched in when her amiibo is released), lending credence to the theory that the mysterious fourth CPSIA listed last month is indeed for a amiibo, and likely not a new/returning character for a port.
Also, a bunch of Heroes stuff. I can't play it so I don't keep up with it.
WHY IN MEYNETH'S NAME ARE THESE LUNATIC GRAND HERO BATTLES BORDERLINE IMPOSSIBLE?! GETTING A 3-STAR NAVARRE IS EASIER THAN STEALING CANDY FROM A BABY BUT TRYING TO GET A 4-STAR VERSION OF HIM IS LIKE TRYING TO COMPLETE AWAKENING LUNATIC+ WITH NO CASUALTIES AND NO RESETS!
Whew. Ok. So, here's the thing. The enemy units themselves aren't that hard. What makes the map so challenging is the trees. The trees in Heroes are like desert spaces in the original Gaiden: they restrict everything (except fliers) to one movement, so trying to fall back is impossible. Another thing that makes the map so challenging is the stupid "no Light's Blessing" rule. Everything has to be perfect.
It's not just this map either. Every Grand Hero Battle's map is just designed completely in the enemy's favor, even if you have the perfect team. I've wasted like 8 Stamina Potions trying to get 4-Star Navarre and guess what, i still don't have him. If this keeps up, i'm just gonna cheat by getting the 3-Star version and upgrade him to a 4-Star.
