>_> How is online poker different?
I'm okay at live poker, and I wouldn't mind trying my hand at online if I knew what to expect.

ALSO can anyone tell me WHY in SSF4 the ****ing trials are SO **** HARD. Not even just the million hit ones, even some of the two or three hit combos I can't get to work. For Balrog I think one of them was L Punch to M Kick and no matter how FAST I mash that button the second move doesn't come out to combo and it's pissing me off. I tried timing it, mashing it, everything except the right way it seems. HEEEEEELP
You gotta time it. Hit dem links son.

Also Jam, I did all of Chun's trials which kinda threw me off because she's both a charge and mash character - both concepts are still pretty foreign to me, lol. If there are any trials of hers you're having issues with, hit me up and I'll help.

So far I've 100%'d Abel, Adon, Chun, T.Hawk, Juri, Hakan, Guy, Dudley, Bison, Guile, Vega, and Rose. Everyone except Abel has surprised me >_>

I'm going to a SSFIV tournament today, wish me luck!

EDIT: Oh yeah, NE Brawl's new power rankings went up, and Hink came up with a good idea for the style:

It's very different actually. First of all, you're seeing about 60 hands an hour online, which is roughly three times the hands you'd see in real life poker. What does that mean? More bad beats. Prepare to be frustrated at times, prepare to see very unlikely events happen quite frequently. This kind of stuff has led to the belief that online sites are "rigged", but it's actually just that you're playing so many more hands than you would in real life, and the odds catch up to this.

Playing smart is a lot more important because you don't have real life tells to base your judgements off of. You can't stare a guy down or just get a sense of how he plays based on how he's dressed and how he talks and if he's drinking or not. Online all you have to go off of is betting patterns (which is EXTREMELY important irl as well) and the time they take to bet.

Also, when you play, don't be doing a milliion things on your computer while you're playing. Don't get distracted even though it's almost impossible not to be with the internet and aim and all that jazz. You've got to pay attention to the players at your table and how they play their hands. It can get boring if you're getting cold cards and no action is coming your way. Patience is insanely important here, don't lose nerve right before you make the money in a tournament or go on tilt in a cash game cause you will lose your all your money.

AND I cannot stress this next point enough: NEVER EVER spend more than TEN PERCENT of your TOTAL BANKROLL on ONE game (any one tournament or cash game table or sit n go). This is because of variance. Say you have a 100 bucks in your account and you put it all in one cash game $1/$2 blinds. Let's say your playing well and up some money and THEN the hand you've been waiting for comes, pocket aces and someone's reraising you big time. Let's say you go all in and he calls with kings and he hits the king and you lose everything right there. Now, did you make the right play? Yes. Are you ever going to fold pocket aces preflop to one guy? Not a chance in hell. And yet he still has an 18% chance to beat you and then suddenly your whole bankroll's gone. This is why you have to build up your bankroll slowly and when you face a bad beat like that, you won't care when you only lose a small percent of your money.

You gotta time it. Hit dem links son.
I suck at linking. More practice tonight!

I've done them all except for five of them. For the most part, I need to work on execution on my stick, and I should be okay.

Except for #12:

I can link c. mk to EX bird kick, but when I add in the j. fk I always throw out EX legs instead of bird kick.

Wow Seb, your post was so insightful. Very glad I took the time to read it.

Ryan, I wasn't mad, I was just trying to say that $27/hr is good and it seemed like you were saying it wasn't. We agree on the same things now though so it's all good. :D

When Jinx was making a living playing poker online, he would regularly play like 20 tables at a time. Just sayin.

I really want to start reading some good poker books but I have no where to start...

Seb, should I just kinda look around to see what the pros have written for books? I feel like if Hellmuth didn't have the impatience problem he'd probably be the best player in the world but he gets frustrated after a while. On the WSOP it seems like he always gets the reads and then eventually since he's on such a hot streak he just wastes away all his money with one wrong call.

Nah, Hellmuth's the best tournament player in the world, he has the most WSOP bracelets in the world. He has plenty of patience it's just that he gets bad beat by idiots just like all the other pros every year, but you notice him because he complains way more than the others, that's all.

As for books, Super System by Doyle Brunson is what you should seek out. That's the poker bible.

A few pages back someone linked to some Pandora sort of radio/music site, if I'm not mistaken, it was Hazzy. Could you repost the link to that site? :O

Oh, and even though I don't play . . . I'm a Phil Ivey fan. <3

Trademark has the best sig ever. LOL. I love it.

Codys pretty good but the problem is is that.....well, about a good 10,000 other people I know (I can think of 4 people i know on the top of my head) want to main him. I think hes a great character, but people will learn him fast and therefore, learn his shananigans.

Hes pretty basic and his chains are fairly easy to pull off. cr lp cr lp cr mp HP criminal upper is money. I love him though. I think there is a deeper strategy with learning how to insert the knife into your game plan as well. I know its a strong part of my offense. However, if you use a focus attack, ultra, super, or grab he loses it so you lose options but you get chip damage on normals.

Also, my first time online w Ibuki i won 6 in a row. Some stupid Dhalsim tried to camp me and some Blanka tried to do that roll horizontal crap towards me and I was like, "lol, my neck breaker ***** that."

I love when people use projectiles against my ibuki.

I was ******* around w Dudley and he can do

lp uppercut into HP uppercut FADC into Corkscrew (anywhere on screen.) ********. Hes definitely better than Ryu. Overhead into super combo. lol.

oh yeah and his cr mk trips you.

Hes literally Dee Jay, Honda, Ryu, Sagat, and Rufus bundled into one character.
