I didn't forget. I think the Ridley boss wasn't in the 3DS version from what I can recall. The 50-Fact Extravaganza was the first time we got to have a glance at the full view of the boss.
Yes, but also THIS; they has stated that the characters have to be the same between the two games. If you got the 3ds version version beforehand, then you'd know the full characters(outside dlcs)

I wasn't talking about the roster, I was talking about when they first showed off Ridley's shadow and when they announced him as a boss.

Huh? I didn't say that. I just said that the 3ds version came before the Wii U version. And there were no traces of that Shadow nor Ridley on the 3ds version. So i guess that would've been expected
Sorry about that. My bad.

So people was disappointed beforehand? on that note, that stage didn't appear at all in the 3ds version.

In any case, most people agree that having 2 character reveals even with E3 cancelled is a very likely outcome. The ARMS character will be the primary focus, with FP7 revealed probably at the end to draw up more hype. I can see FP8 revealed sometime in September much like Terry Bogard was.

I could see that. We get the Arms rep announced next month along with FP7 who is probably Geno or Crash. The Arms rep probably get's release in June or July just like Hero and Geno or Crash get's released in September like Banjo & Kazooie.

If this is real at all, next month may be looking packed in regards to Nintendo news besides the ARMS fighter.

I wasn't talking about the roster, I was talking about when they first showed off Ridley's shadow and when they announced him as a boss.
Tellingly, there's been far less jokes/bait-and-switches of that type this time. During the time of 4, those were all over the place.

there was nothing wrong with zip lash, juast cause it wasnt a usual chibi game doesnt mean franchise abuse
It's more a case of drastic gameplay changes not necessarily being a good idea (for players used to the same gameplay). From the original devs, no less.

Besides, it was fine for a Castlevania-lite.

Exactly, the roster of Sm4sh were the same in both versions, for limitations of the 3DS the ice climbers were cut on both, so why Ridley would have been different?
To some of the people wishing for Ridley, it didn't occur to them that he'd be too big for both versions, and it was said at some point that Sak didn't like the idea of version-exclusive characters (especially since the two-version idea was the higher-ups' suggestion).

I, sap for all things amiibo I am, bought the game and played it. I'm not saying it's bad because that's what the internet hivemind declared.

It was clunky slow and had one of the dumbest progression mechanics I'd ever seen. It feels like someone at the first meeting said "there's no bad ideas" but forgot to mention they're supposed to crop out the... less-good ideas out later.

They just didn't like the fact that it was too different for their comfort zone. At least Zip-Lash wasn't made by Artoon/Arzest, those guys were terrible.
Idk who Artoon/Arzest are and at this point I’m too afraid to ask

Nintendo affiliate, their output varies from "alright" to "...why?"

Most infamous for the portable Yoshi games.
(In reality it's 50-50 but the OK Yoshi's Island DS and the port-so-it-doesn't-count Poochie and Yoshi's Wolly World are forgotten in favor of the disasters of Yoshi's Universal Gravitation and Yoshi's New and terrible soundtrack)

Fortunately, they've been kicked upstairs and only worked on the giant battles in the Bowser's Inside Story remake, recently. No peep since then.
A little sad they didn’t remake PiT before AlphaDream went bankrupt... hope Nintendo buys them out

*ahem* back on topic...

we’ve talked about who it could be. We’ve talked about music, spirit board, stages, but let’s get to the juiciest part

the trailer.

will it be minimalist like PP, or will it have full animated segments like the Pass 1 fighters? Will it be a sequel to Kencineroar or standalone and original? What about the tag line??

Well I have the feeling that the ARMS trailer will set the tone for what's to come.

I personally think that 1st parties will get in engine trailers and 3rd parties will get the left over budget for fully featured trailers.

My personal theory for the ARMS fighter trailer is that it will be akin to a fight preview from ARMS with Biff commentating, much like how the Inkling reveal more or less recreated its preview trailer up until the point the Smash logo was revealed

just because you didnt like it doesnt mean they were deliberately being mean to the series, they just wanted to try something new and unfortunately it just did quite work for some people. story of chibi's life really

Though ultimately (heh heh), I liked what they did with Terry better, I'll admit I find the idea of continuing the Ken/Incineroar trailer should we get anymore fighting game reps to be a cute idea. It also feels like it'd be a nice compromise between a new trailer, and not having the budget to do completely new rendered trailers for each character. They could just open with Incineroar having just defeated K. Rool, BJ, and Villager, taunting the crowd in victory, when a glove attached to a coiled arm springs forth from the shadows in the sidelines and hits him square in the jaw.

Yoshi's New Island is just kind of mediocre. I wouldn't call it terrible. It just has a bad reputation over it's title theme and intro song. Not even it's entire soundtrack is as bad as people think it is. It's just like 3 or 4 songs that have that awful kazoo.

To modify one of the Mythbuster's catchphrases, disappointment is always an option.
It is entirely on brand for Nintendo to tease a character in a vague fashion and then have it be the most obvious answer.
The Switch, Breath of the Wild, Odyssey and Ultimate blew people way but don't forget not too long ago we were in the era of Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, Chibi-Robo Zip-Lash, Paper Mario Sticker Star (twice), Metroid Federation Force and Star Fox 64: Crap Controls edition.
So in other words, you're expecting then to not learn from their mistakes?

That's a fair point :troll:

The only way no one would be right in this case is if the ARMS character isn't any of the established characters at all, but a brand-new one from a hypothetical ARMS 2. Every ARMS fighter under the sun has been assumed to be the pick, and then some.

But seriously though, am I the only one who's sick and tired of reiterating the same points over and over again? I don't know who's wrong and who's right, I just want the reveal to happen as soon as possible.

I'm not opposed to an ARMS rep. It is just that with six slots, I want to see other characters.

Since we are getting a rep, I would choose Ribbon Girl. She is a Mii Costume like Spring Man, but he is already an assist.

And even then, ARMS 2 seems an unrealistic road to take because Sakurai likes to play the games to get a good idea of a moveset, so unless the game was literally 100% completed for months without it being released, it ain't happening.

They must've been heavily focused on making Switch games at the time, as many of those like HHD reused assets from previous entries.

How the trailer could play out, let the selected character for ARMS rep be fighting in the championship against Max Brass. Before the match begins, mysterious figures appear and knocks out Max Brass to reveal unknown fighters.

My guess........

Hey Pikmin, Mario Sports Superstars, Paper Jam and Top 100 slipped my mind; Happy Home Designer was ok, I swear Mario Party 10 was 2014 and I didn't think Triforce Heroes, Star Rush and Maker for 3Ds were bad.

I have expunged A##### Cro##### am#### ###tival from my data banks.

I mean, I'd argue Hey Pikmin, Happy Home Designer, Triforce Heroes, and Paper Jam were okay games in their own right.

But Amiibo Festival? You're on your own there.

Given the generally agreed upon tier placement of all the characters in question, that'd actually be the most realistic option. Although, now I rescind my original pitch: It's largely the same, but instead it opens up to Villager working the crowd on top of K. Rool and Incineroar in a pile, with BJ off to the side, and then he gets beaned by the ARM.

I thought Top 100 was decent as a mini-game compilation. That was the point of it anyways.

That said, Origami King's sudden announcement got me thinking again...if Nintendo can now announce what was going to be in the E3 Direct at any random time, what makes us think that they won't reveal the ARMS fighter earlier or later than expected?
