Smash Champion
1. Jacket. (This was a big process of deliberation for me, but Jacket feels like genuinely such both a perfect and obvious pick, whilst also being a great inclusion, that they'd be a brilliant addition in so many ways. Whether it's the visual design of their stage and the Miami Vice feel, the wonderful collections of music, or the high-octane potential of Jacket's moveset, I think there's tons of interesting and cool additions that could turn up here!)It's voting time!
Please vote for your top four fighter/stage combos for a ranked vote (self-voting is allowed for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th).
Submissions close tomorrow afternoon!
- Yooka & Laylee + ??? (Yooka-Laylee) ( Megadoomer )
- A stage is required - I'll give Megadoomer until voting ends to submit one.
- Zero + Hotel Murdower (Katana ZERO) ( Infinity Sorcerer )
- Madotsuki + Madotsuki's Apartment (Yume Nikki) ( Qwerty UIOP )
- Candyman + Room 21 (Lethal League) ( Tankman from Newgrounds )
- Arizona + The Prarie (Them's Fighting Herds) (@Darkonedagger)
- Polyblank + Darlington Station (Jazzpunk) ( KneeOfJustice99 )
- Jacket + 1989 (Hotline Miami) ( DragonRobotKing26 )
- CommanderVideo + Bit.Trip Runner (Bit.Trip Runner) ( FazDude )
2. CommanderVideo. (Lowkey, I think Bit.Trip is a solid thing to see in an indie title, and feels like kind of a necessary addition - as well as a great and approachable "thing" to kick off the second season of DLC for both new blood and our diehard fans. If he doesn't have a constant rainbow trail behind all of his movement I'm going to riot.)
3. Madotsuki. (I think RPGMaker is a really interesting "thing" to represent in an indie title like this, and Yume Nikki is probably the best fit for that kind of role. Whilst I don't have a massively in-depth knowledge of Yume Nikki, I have enough of a knowledge to know it's both popular and interesting, which feels like a solid fit. It's relatively low on my votes because, admittedly, I don't know enough to really rank it higher.)
4. Arizona. (I think Them's Fighting Herds is a pretty interesting game to represent in a game like this, plus Arizona's nature as both a fighting game character and a quadruped would make them quite an unusual character to play as - in a fun way! I only have Arizona so relatively low because the three above them feel like shoe-in inclusions, but Arizona would nonetheless be very cool to see.
I'm actually going to give a massive honourable mention to Yooka and Laylee, who came very close to snagging the number four spot - I think they'd be another example of an "obvious inclusion" in a great way, but I felt it'd be cool to see another fighting game character make it in. Also, Candyman my beloved - but bias aside, it felt like there were other, more "obvious" picks to me.
