ok for one thing there's no way i'm going without getting used to a new controller first. another thing, jared doesn't want to go before he gets used to falco. 3rd, i don't want to scrub it up again and have to quit altogether. cuz i will if mist happens again. real talk.

Why does Jared think he'll "get used" to Falco quicker playing at home rather than in tourney?

I'm not avoiding any tournaments for any reason. I had said I wanted to play falco for at least a month before I wanted to go to any major tourneys... but tbh if I could go I'd still probably end up going. I mean I was sick and only played falco for two weeks but there was no way I was going to skip MIST.

August Pathways is coming up right when school starts so I really don't know if I can make it or not, I'm just assuming no to not break any hearts. BTEH2 seems like something I can make, but I have to see what requirements I have to fulfill for my organizations and such... I <3 Smash, but I'm also a Senior Pre-Med student trying to make sure I can get into med school. The beginning of school probably won't have that much crap going on, so I'm hoping for the best on making it to it. :D

Back to falco, my major frustration is if I don't do the things I know I can do, on the extremely fundamental level... then I'm spending money to beat myself. But beyond that I'll go to pretty much any tournament that I can feasibly make it to. I don't think I'll ever play as bad as I did at MIST, I've got the fire to whoop *** next time I play some kids. Not a strudel.

For me, the pressure I have to face at tournaments makes me better every single time. I can do things at tournaments that I couldn't do the day before. I feel like most of my progress comes from going to tournaments, and not so much from practicing on the side. Plus, there's criticism and support that only comes from playing in tournaments and playing people outside of your regular group, because if someone's used to playing you they might not even pick up on your shortcomings or things that you're good at. And you're right, it'll only get better from here.

Also, I think to make up for dropping Samus to take up Falco, you should pick up a low-tier alt in order to balance it out again.

I usually do better against people outside of my normal play group... MIST was the first time that didn't happen for me, lol. I'm used to getting absolutely obliterated day in and day out playing Sinister in his comfort zone (my couch).

If there were a low-tier alt that I particularly enjoyed playing I would... but I'm still riding the powertrip from switching to falco and being in control of the match as soon as the announcer says "GO" ...

I was trying to keep up with Samus, she's my first main so I've got a lot of sentimentality when it comes to her. Haven't played her much though.

It's funny, because I hate playing against Samus since I feel like I have no control (as Pikachu, of course), but I like playing against Falco because it feels kind of like swinging around meat near a wolf. I definitely need practice against spacies, so we'll have to get in a bunch of friendlies next time we meet.

Definitely.

Just don't buy into Samus shenanigans and you'll obliterate her. She doesn't have a lot of options but good Samus players create the illusion of speed and pressure.. once you know how she works its not that bad... Watch sinister play against Samus, since he can not explain anything verbally.

well he won't be playing samus. and he's def right. once you know how samus works it's pretty much a gimme.
To an extent. IHSB wouldn't have got 5th at MIST if that was completely true.

Or are you going to say that 60 people don't know how to play against Samus :troll:

Either way, Samus or Falco, I'm takin him out :3

Spaceballs is a really good player, which allows him to get away with a lot of things that don't necessarily work. He's pretty creative on the fly, and I enjoy watching his Samus... it is just in the back of my mind I'll always think "ok that's not actually real... or wow they really fell for that one..." etc. But Spaceballs was my inspiration for Samus... so <3 him too.

And you'll probably beat me the next time we play... but it'll be fun so no worries.

Lol yea SB. It USED to say Columbia/Rolla Area Discussion thread but everyone moved home for the summer. (Plus those f*****s don't post in here). Here I thought I was doing something nice for them...

It reads Washington cuz I'm here. I may change it back, I may not.

Discuss.

Edit: Editted OP.
- Removed CJ, Cookiemonsta, Trey, and Saffy and maybe more...I don't remember (I know you all have access to the boards. Make it a habit to post in here and your name will be placed back on the list).
- Updated upcoming tournaments
- Updated Sinister and Akuma's chars
- Changed title to Mid-MO Area Discussion to include the trifecta of CoMO/Rolla/Washington
- Strong Bad will be added to the list soon (I just gotta get off my tablet to do it)
- something wrong? Let me know.

A freshman at Mizzou. I'm from Saint Louis. I play Ganon. I'm bad.
We'll fix that, just play with us. I'm Sinister's personal trainer, and within the year I've been playing with him, he's gone from ultra scrub to contender...... :D ......... I believe in him, there'll be one tourney where he just unleashes the beast.

If you need a ride, I'm sure we can handle it... also Saturday sounds good.
