Didn't even know this existed.

edit: after testing in training mode, dair cancelling's landing animation is different than the one shown in the video. I have no idea whatsoever of what happened here.

The bigger question is why did that upsmash hit? In the slo-mo pika was still holding shield, unless he/she just happened to unshield at the perfect time lmao

Guess he was just as surprised as I was and expected me to go over him, so he dropped the shield in order to go for a punish.

On a second thought, it doesn't seem like it's dair cancelling, though..

That was… Awesome.

It looks similar to a platform cancel on Smashville in Brawl… But why/how did this happen? If it is similar to the Brawl tech, then it would involve a hidden dair cancel. Whatever it is, it looks like it doesn't work from initiating a spring, but rather from just bouncing off of one (since Sonic can act out of that even sooner).

Also, can every Sonic video now just have Super Sonic Racing in it lmao have we set a precedent?

I know Pikachu can still QAC on the Smashville platform. I wonder if this is like, height dependent, input dependent, etc. Would be cool to recreate and perform on other stages.

After testing it out on BF's top platform, it is indeed possible to cancel de upwards momentum and laglessly land on the platform with a well-timed dair.

The landing animation, though, is different, but I have no idea why. While there is a double jump involved in that video, I dunno if that would affect anything at all.

That's the thing.. I have no recollection of trying to use dair, at all.

I remember trying to uair (and that's basically why that USmash came out, as well), but I'm not entirely sure on that either.

Try it: go to training mode, plant a Spring on the ground and try to time a dair as you pass through the platform. I was doing it by holding up on the analog and dairing with the C-stick, but I'm pretty sure that's not necessary.

The landing animations should be different. In this clip it's like a "soft" landing while with the dair it will be a "hard" landing (short hop vs full hop, basically).

Again, there is, indeed, a double jump in the clip, but if the platform cancel was caused by an aerial, I don't see how it would affect the landing at all.

What are some good videos of standard Sonic play? I'm looking at practical applications of some of the AT's and what Sonic's standard gameplan should look like. Already tested!
Believe it or not, but only works with that (stick up + down C-stick)
It has the "hard" landing animation with the effects of the "soft" landing. (my bad, it's the "soft" landing animation)
Fun-fact, if the stick keeps up, just press A and the game will read it as an Usmash and not as an Utilt.
EDIT: press A BEFORE the landing animation ends for an Usmash, otherwise it will perform an Utilt
Works in the lowers platforms of BF too.
