That zss was pretty good...fought nicole a lot over the weekend and that mu definitely feels about evenish, zss can keep up with our speed for sure. Not sure what my advice I can give, that seemed a lot more player vs player the character vs character. If my sets with nicole go up I'll upload them.

I've got a custom match here!

I used Burning spin dash and Double spring. Im starting to really like the burning spin dash, its powerful and can use it to follow up other air moves or ground moves after jump.

Double spring is eh. I used to like it but the more I use it, the more its screwed me over cause my back was facing the ledge.
A few slip ups but the fun was still going lol

Lost the first game as Mega Man, brutally and switched to Sonic for the rest of the fight and still lost. I came back pretty hard on Game 2 but things got rough when he switched to Villager and he took it back. I've made a few input errors in here (usually when he whiffed a grab) and I was nervous because the crowd was really loud whenever one of us did something. Although I think reptar is a fairly good player I'm usually the one who beats him, not the other way around. I'm kinda mad that I lost this battle because of that, and I regret banning Isle Delfino and allowing him to play Lylat.

Sadly, I didn't get any of my other games recorded. Did a Sonic ditto with SamuraiPanda (who may be the other best Sonic in my state, and I knew he hated the Sonic ditto lol), I wish I recorded that, it was gold

So I did a match against this falcon and I laugh at his attempts to make it back on stage safely lol

He's a good falco though, we had one match before this one and he was doing pretty good, much better than this match.

So yea, if you guys catch any fox or falcon using this to recover on stage a lot, do what I did lol. Well you don't have to lol

I'm one of the few Sonics who likes BF so I thought I could work it in my favor.

I'd say for the most part I did, but I was caught off guard by how effective 6wx was with HSD on BF.

Anyway, that is indeed strange. Regarding the new mechanics of platforms (can't be pushed off if holding shield) and general handling thereof, you still prefer BF?

I dunno, I'm just a bit salty. It's harder to get my Spring to hit people because they have coverage and stuff. Meanwhile, things like Pikachu's Thunder now goes through platforms to hit things below. Makes me wish that the Spring Coil at least still had a hitbox after it bounced on the ground once rather than just jump and spin around looking pretty.

It's not that I prefer BF, as I think Sonic is still weaker on it overall and in most match-ups it's not the best, but I've gotten readjusted to it and I've always been known for being really comfortable there.

This was the venue's first tourny so they didn't have commentators/proper stream.

But critique though!! ;-; Though I bet its hard to give any sonics one of those "watch your opponent and do things" kinda character. Prolly need more approaching nair cuz everybody and their mom likes to jump above spindash >.> and dash to fair/nair will get em.

after losing to both these diddy's the tuesday prior to this i kind of was out for blood vs both of them, even more so because they had beaten me and my partner in doubles. I missed a couple hard punishes vs Dissent game 2 that could've lead to a 2-0 victory but lucky for me Windy Hill Zone managed to help me clutch things out (Grassy terrain increasing friction causing diddy's monkey flip to slide less which netted me a KO when he tried to monkey flip ledge cancel)

Me and my friends were literally shaking our heads at how he managed to make it to losers finals just by trying to beat everyone out using custom move shenanigans. Luckily i wasn't having any of that. Although i kind of didn't care when he decided to go DK on BF as i could spare the lose and just win the following round.

i'm a little upset at how i played here tbh, i missed a lot of punishes that could have changed the matches pace multiple times during multiple matches. Though after this i learned how truly useful springing headbutt can be vs those who like to try and edge guard as well as why you should wall jump first before using the move to recover....


Any suggestions and or words of advice/ critique is welcome

I guess we should use a better method to organize all that videos.

For example, everyone could put the link of his/her video in an organized spreadsheet. Something like a google Spreadsheet. Its link would be in the first post and we could all have access to it thanks to the link.

We would still post our videos on this thread but we also would put its link on the spreadsheet as an archive.

Does it sound good ?

If anybody is willing to give me some feedback on either of these two sets it would be appreciated. It was a casual session where friendlies were played but it gives a fairly accurate description of how I would play in a tournament setting. Starts at 1:09:20 and goes through 1:24:30 against a Little Mac and 1:25:25 to 1:38:03 against a Mario/Yoshi. Went to my first tournament for Smash 4 after a long absence from being a Brawl player in mid-2008 to mid-2009 and got 17th out of 70-ish. Really looking to improve however I can.

I personally have warmed up (lol) to Burning Spin Dash. I think it has some really cool and fun uses. Hammer Spin Dash is solid too and has very particular uses that I acknowledge but I myself am not comfortable with yet or really know if I love it... Especially for certain match-ups. It is useful though.

I still don't believe any of Sonic's customs are objectively better than the rest. Gravity might as well be equipped since Spin Charge is already so straightforward that it's at least spiced up a bit, and both BSD and HSD have their uses... That's about it. Double Spring is maybe good against Diddy? Don't know yet.

Hmm, I'll definitely see about the one in June. I'll be out of school and bored by then lol. Man I had to drop Marth because I just don't like him this time around. :/ Plus I wanted to use one of the new characters so I decided to pick up Shulk. I'm still training my Mario as well, mainly to fight Sonic lol.

Yeah I feel you. There a lots of moments where I feel like dropping him. Shulk is mighty fun, hyper monado power vision advancing air slash shulk is my main if customs become big

Oh really? You dont like sonic dittos?(; I feel like Shulk can handle Sonic pretty well, more so than Mario at least.

This match I was kinda under pressure, I was not doing my best, but got lucky with the comeback and still won surprisingly!

It's tough critiquing online matches but...

You can't charge a spin near Sheik at neutral. She'll win. She can just jab, tilt, etc. You also can't really charge spins from the opposite side of the stage because she has needles and will win. You also can't try to challenge her right in her face because she'll win. Basically, Sheik wins in most situations so you have to play it differently.

Dairing to get back to the stage is also a huge risk as you saw from that first Usmash kill.

Oof, that SD. Can't be holding the joystick like that, brah.

I feel like your win here came from him playing too recklessly and not being safe... Which is stupid for a Sheik player because she can just be so safe all the time. Like, I still don't get why anyone challenges Sonic near a ledge when they're at high percent when they're just offering themselves as Bthrow bait. No respect. Just kept throwing away their lead. So impatient.

Towards the end it was just like, them falling apart by whiffing so many Fsmashes/Usmashes and you just being like "I'll take that thanks".
