Everyone, I'm working on the videos and am almost done with Chula Vista Weekly 5! !!!! !!!

And, for Chula Vista Weekly IX I'll $1 money match anyone with my Lucario/ROB/Lucas. If you want to put money down for Pokemon Trainer dittos, I'm down too.

Tounament details

This was posted in AIB in CV IX so post your opinions there so we can have it all in one place.

First of all I need to say that I'm extremely happy how things have turned out with our weekly's. The people that I have met, the new friends that I have made, and experience that I have obtained. I'm sure everyone has something to appreciate from what we have been able to do as a community.

Ok, yea we need to change and revamp a few things.

First of all the whole pictochat issue: I've been reading about this on the smashboards for a bit now and read that there are tournaments that are including this as a counter pick.

Let's determine what a counter pick is: it's a level that could possibly (or will) give certain characters advantages and disadvantages to others. Example: low ceilings, wall shenanigans, platforms, tilting edges, moving/changing stages, smaller horizontal boundries. But the biggest advantage that (IMO) you press is stage familiarity. Another example: Me and Hall played a few weeks ago. I won the first game . He counter picks Green Greens. I get my face smashed in because I had no idea how to work with the stage.

I'm all for Pictochat. Why? Because more and more tournaments are including the stage. I've heard East Coast in particular. i would like to include it in our counter picks. It's almost required because if you play someone in tournament and they counter pick pictochat against you (obviously outside of chula vista), most likely, he's going to hold a considerable advantage. We don't want that now do we? Although im not completely convinced about having it in tournament, I support it. Here's where all of you come in, help me decide. Obviously these tournaments exist because of the community so I need you guys to pitch in as well. What do you guys think? Provide us with something to consider!

Ok now with that out with the way let me remind you how our weekly's are mainly for us to hang out and have a good time but don't forget they are still tournaments! You are playing for money! We have a ranking system! Tournaments = competition. Competition = progress. Progress = recognition. And we get people like DSF come to our tournaments. I honestly detest pirate ship BUT if you can provide me with hard evidence that the stage is tournament worthy then by all means we'll include it. Again community come forth! State you opinion!

And then something that absolutely will not involve the community that I will I decide by myself, 2 things actually:

1. Neutrals Cannot be (counter pick) banned anymore! People don't even use this that often, so it's dumb to have this as an option. Other tournaments don't use it. So nay. No more neutral banning. I remember the only reason this was stated as otherwise was because ghettoSoldier asked me about that in the first weekly. So i was put in a position to give an answer. I had no idea how things worked back then. I had no host experience lol. Realize that I am growing with you guys at the same rate you guys are with us. Not that I have crazy experience but I at least have a vague understanding of why things are the way they are.

2. I'm thinking about taking out the "vetoe" (however you spell that) thing. I understand that some people don't like stages in the random but that's the point! To get used to what we don't like. Someday you're going to travel out to some bigger tourney and you won't be able to. What are you going to do? Someday you will thank me. lol

-IceDX: Lylat stays, most people dislike the stage but again that's part of the tournament scene so we're running with it.

Discuss. Now.

Mario: I need to talk to you.

About the two changes right now.

Both of those are in diffrent and big tournaments. Its part of the rules. Neutrals can be banned, and each player can have 1 random reset at the beginning of the match. In Melee for instance, people ban Final Destination vs Ice Climbers every time.

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?p=5097738#post5097738

If you check in that thread, this is what they say about the stages.

TOs must move stages from the starter/counterpick into either the starter or counterpick categories and must move stages from counterpick/banned into either the counterpick or banned categories.

Stages in the Starter/Counter and Counter/Banned list did not receive 2/3 majority, and therefore you are given the option to put those stages in either category, as we did not come to a consensus on it.

i actually think the stages were fine like they were before......¨shrugs¨
Yeah it is. I just linked to what the smash back room released, and there was talk of people wanting pirate ship as a counterpick and that brought up the idea of other stages that have been discussed in the smash community like Pictochat.

kinda late but that tourney was pretty cool but i just have to brag to you people that dayu got that ultra sexy knee combo (probably his last at havok's) on my lucas. dayu good luck in taiwan bro and dont forget to show your moves. ill probably miss this week's since i have plans for saturday and some family on sunday but i might show up to see hall take the final

about levels:
personally lylat should be counterpicked since the movement of the level affetcs characters and i keep hearing its one of snakes best levels, pictochat should be allowed since familiarity with the stage can come in handy as for pirate ship, I detest pirate ship as well but personally i dont care what happens to it since the bombs are easy to avoid even using ganondorf and the other hazards arent as bad as the bombs
EDIT: the spike on the front of the ship is a sure kill isnt it?
Mario: I need to talk to you.
yes what is it?
btw its spelled "veto"

I never really come to the weeklies (I can never get a ride :() but, I suggest that we conform as much as possible to the back room's rules. For two reasons, they have a ****load more of experience and their rules will most likely be the most popular. So yes to picto chat and the pirate ship.

Why would I want to fight in a Mystic Cave (apart from the music) when I could be fighting somewhere cool like a Chemical Plant or a Metropolis?

If you fought in a chemical plant, someone is bound to fall into a vat of acid and come out with super powers or something.

And Metropolis? Please. Flying boyscouts have the home-field advantage.

But in a mystic cave, anything can happen. I'm talking like... dragons will wake up and blow fire, and like dreams will devour the souls of your enemies, or a blind witch will send you on a quest.

I think the possibilities are endless in a Mystic Cave.

Trust me and we will escape from the city!

Live and learn zone:bigthumbu

jkk sonic music should have never got words :'(
Actually, there are a few good lyrical ones that I like. Live and learn being one of them. Another one of my favorites are Sonic's theme and the first act from Adventure 2. Let's not forget about Knuckle's Raps too. Pumpkin hill anyone?

In fact, while I'm on the subject...

Anyone who puts other zones before Casino Night Zone is a commie.

As is anyone who likes Knuckle's Raps.

Ice, you better be there this week. You too, Qzzy, as I will have money this time.
