So, here’s a question that I dont know if it was answered before: What importance does Ys have and why should it be in Smash? I never heard of this game until now lol.
Something similar was asked, regarding Falcom in general rather than Adol.
Long version:

Short version:
Falcom was a major player in the development of computer games, action-RPGs, and JRPGs as a whole. They developed Dragon Slayer, largely agreed to be the first ARPG and one of the earliest JRPG, beating out even Dragon Quest. Falcom themselves are among the oldest existing game developers, starting up in 1981. In addition, they were one of the first to have a dedicated, named sound team to write music for their games; Falcom Sound Team jdk. Heck, they even have live performances of their songs, helmed by JDK Band.

An interesting little tidbit is that they were also some of the first to have a licensed band perform music to promote their game; Specifically, they had the band Anthem write the song Xanadu in preparation for the release of the game of the same name. Have a listen:
Ys is one of Falcom's biggest franchises, and while Trails is arguably bigger nowadays, Ys is still older and represents Falcom's legacy. In fact, Adol is actually older than any JRPG fighter in Smash so far, beating out even Erdrick by a year.

Didn't we say we were swapping to a 24-hour schedule? Shouldn't we call it for Adol and go to Bandana Dee?
I was waiting a little to gauge if we really do need to switch to a 24-hour schedule or not. Looks like the answer is yes. If there's anything else you need to say, do it while you can. You have about half an hour left before I calculate the noms and we switch gears.

Admittedly, I was hoping we could stall it out a little so people could have enough time to familiarize themselves with Ayumi in time for her day, since the FDC remakes are coming up soon; The one-day schedule doesn't give as much time for that. Still, this should hopefully give enough time for that.

And the noms are in! This time around, I've been a bit more lenient on the advice towards new players. I've also given some points for posting music lists now, since that counts towards content. Lastly, I'm counting my SSBU X Ys pack as plus five extra points, since it's all listed under one post. Not sure if I'll change it for later occurrences, though I will say I might've been more lenient if it was someone other than myself posting it. Don't want to seem biased, y'know?
Note that this is for extra noms; You already have five, so you should add them on to your extras if you want the total amount of noms.

Alright, now we start submitting our nominations

Nomination: LoL rep x20

I was pretty busy today so I didn't get as much discussion in as with Phoenix, but I guess I'll throw in a little stage idea before we swap over. One stage idea that was brought up was the Isle of Seiren from Ys VIII, and one mechanic I think would be neat for that is a time-change system. I won't go too deep into details on why, but there's a past-vs-present thing going on with the Isle of Seiren that could translate over into a stage mechanic pretty well, where you can see the present-day effects of things that happened in the past. For example, there could be a small sapling in the background in the past that grows into an enormous tree in the present, and its branches could be used as platforms.

EDIT: rip, missed the deadline

Do these nominations still have to have support threads or was that just for the initial poll?

For now, I’ll just assume they do.

Question: Do nominations hold over or can they be made during the next day if a user isn't online during the dedicated nomination period?

Yes, a support thread is necessary

Yeah, I think it's only fair if we do it that way. There'll be a decent grace period before noms close; Dunno how long exactly, since time zones mean sometimes I'll be going to bed during the nomination period.

Looks like I’m going to have to make a few more support threads for my other most wanted characters. I have a feeling not many people are really interested in my personal favorites but I see a lot of really obscure characters get support threads so I might as well try.

Oh I didn’t realize we were going to one day. It’s preferable but I was assuming it was still two.

Nominating 2B x15

SharkLord SharkLord Can you add the current schedule and character nominations to the OP? Kind of unsure what characters are fair game for noms or are already scheduled so I’ve just been putting 2B as a stopgap lol.

Gengar84 Gengar84 and NinJeds NinJeds , you have five more noms to spend - The ones listed are extras. Would you like to add those extra points to your submissions?
Yeah I think that makes the most sense. If I split them, then they are both guaranteed to lose so might as well go all in on the Battletoads.

I don't completely understand how the noms systems works--is it that the winner of one day gets added to the list? Or does it take longer to "win"? Quote got the most noms last vote, so I'm wondering if I can still give mine for him this week or if doing so would be pointless?

No, not yet.

I don’t wanna boost Frisk’s nominations any more higher than they are now cause I got a concept I need to get finished before we talk about them.

It's like with RTC; When we get to the end of our current wave of characters, we move on to the top seven nominations. I will also mention that the extra noms can only be used once you just got them; They won't carry over to later rounds. It would be too much of a hassle to have to count who does or doesn't have noms.

This is the last call for noms. Luckily for the nominators, this day's nominations ended up overlapping with my dinner and shower periods. After everything is done, I'm closing down the nominations and shifting over to the next day. After that, I think we should be able to settle into a schedule where I wake up, set up the nominations, and shift to the next fighter. There won't be another long nomination period like this one again.

Well, I'll ask the obvious, even though I sort of already know the answer. What makes him special instead of just a mook with a nice hat?

I haven't really lurked or spent much time in the BWD support thread or in BWD discussions in general, so one thing I'm curious about is what people think BWD could have for a final smash?

One idea I had was having the dream rod from Star Allies be hid FS. If BWD gets his FS, he pulls out the rod and whacks whatever characters are in front of him, dragging them into a cinematic attack, where BWD summons 3 random friends to help assist beating up whatever characters get caught in the FS. one FS you could get, say, Adeleine, Coo, and Susie, or another time get Rick, Ribbon, and Magalor. Maybe even Kirby, Meta Knight, or Dedede could show up. I mean, if they have no problem with Chrom still being in Robin's FS despite Chrom being playable...

I remember back in the Smash 4 days that people really liked the idea of Megaton Punch being the final smash as a reference to his debut and how a cinematic of destroying the planet would look really cool

The most obvious choice for a Final Smash is the Megaton Punch.
He really shatters the planet like that. Crazy debut for a character.

What it really comes down to is he’s an actual character and the clear 4th star of Kirby from everything from game roles to various promotional material. Like if you changed his design to something more original his qualifications would be clearly inarguable.

Oh that's right. Didn't even think of that. With BWD becoming bigger in modern Kirby and so much people wanting more modern Kirby content in Smash, the idea of looking back at KSS didn't even cross my mind...

Yeah Megaton Punch would be a really cool FS.

I've seen some examples of moveset implementing other WD weapons like the Umbrella I could see him function without them, granted that would make his moveset more generic than the likes of triple D but I could see it being added more on the special move since Kirby games already provided him with enough attack that I'm sure Sakurai will ignore that and make a new one or some variation of it.

Other than that I honestly think he doesn't really need anymore new spirit battle for his board, there's already enough in base game better to add just 1 or 2 new ones wouldn't it?

OK, I know Bandana Dee so this is an easy one. I'll only cove games he has a major role in, so no Triple Deluxe/Robobot.

Super Star Ultra (Revenge of the King) (DS) - his first appearance of any significance. He isn't playable, but he talks with Dedede in the last level. He's also a joke boss in both RoTK and The Arena, and returns for Megaton Punch. KSSU is generally considered a top tier Kirby game, and was my introduction to the series so I recommend it. It's $10 on the Wii U eShop if you're one of five people who have one. Second hand copies are going Crazy Hamburger, so if you want one get it now while it's somewhat reasonable.

Return to Dreamland (Wii) - Bandana Dee's first playable appearance, and where he gets the spear. Unfortunately he's only available in the main game in Multiplayer, but it's still a solid Kirby game. $20 on the Wii U, or buy it second hand or pirate it.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse (Wii U) a spinoff game where Bandana Dee is the main side character. Once again, he's only playable in multiplayer. I never played this one, so I can't really recommend it. It's probably OK though, HAL knows what they're doing.

Star Allies (Switch) - Bandana Dee is one of many dream friends, and he's available from basically the beginning of the game. The spear copy ability didn't return, so he's technically unique this time around. He can also be selected in Guest Star, a mode similar to Meta Knightmare and Dededetour from previous games. Star Allies is a good game, but I don't know if I'd get it for $60. If you find it for anything less, go for it!

Writing this on mobile was actually painful.

TIME FOR THE BANDANA BOY

Tbh Bandana Dee would be great way to round out the Return to Dream Land crew and could come with a great deal of modern Kirby content. He wouldn't be too difficult to come up with a moveset for, considering how similar the newer Kirby games control to Smash (to the point where they've made Kirby's Smash moveset into a copy ability multiple times). Bandana Dee has his regular spear moves and could even draw from other common Waddle Dee/Doo abilities like Parasol and Beam, and there's also the elemental attributes you can apply to copy abilities in Star Allies to consider:

Maybe Dee could get a temporary boost in power, knockback, or speed by imbuing his spear with an element for a bit. I think he has more than enough moveset potential with his base Spear attacks, but if Sakurai wanted to include a mechanic to spice things up, then the elemental attributes are one option.

As for a stage, my top pick would probably be Another Dimension from Return to Dream Land, since that was Dee's first major playable appearance as well as the start of the modern Kirby era that he'd be representing. Jambastion from Star Allies would be another neat choice if they wanted to draw from the newest game.

I guess I should take a step back for a second though -- I've been talking about Dee representing "modern Kirby" (essentially Return to Dream Land onwards, maybe with some Super Star Ultra thrown in since he had a role there too), but what do you think would make the most sense as the scope of Dee's Challenger Pack? Focusing on the newer main line Kirby games? Pulling from all across the franchise? Pulling content from the side games like Kirby Fighters or Super Kirby Clash?

There's also the fan theory that Bandana Dee is the same Waddle Dee as the one from Kirby 64, so I kind of want to use that as an excuse to smuggle more 64 content in Smash with his Challenger Pack, since it's one of my most nostalgic Kirby games (gimme a Factory Investigation remix!)

I feel like just a stage will be fine, he himself is already the embodiment of it, there's not really any mainstay from the modern series other than himself and other who's just a DLC with some new edition leaning toward new copy ability rather than a major character which always consist of either 2-3. The gameplay itself is always the same being a side scrolling platformer with every new game introducing minor new feature but at heart it's still the same Kirby game. The Kirby series is big so I doubt Nintendo separate the old and new like the fans do to make a Challenger pack.

I made a Bandana Dee moveset myself for the Smash Infinite thread. It wasn't accepted, but I'm still proud of it.
Bandana Waddle Dee Moveset Concept
I envision Bandana Waddle Dee as a character with the floatiness of Kirby and the disjoints of a swordfighter. He would primarily wield his trusty spear, but also whip out his parasol from Battle Royale, and a few other tricks. His spear attacks would have a sweetspot on the blade, but the hitboxes would tend to be pretty narrow, making it difficult to hit jumping opponents (ducking opponents wouldn't be much of an issue with how short Bandana Dee is).
His general strengths would lie in his good recovery and his ability to space out opponents. His weaknesses would be his light weight and somewhat low speed of movement and attacking.
  • Normals
    • Neutral attack: Spear Thrust
      • Bandana Dee swings his spear forward, then unleashes a barrage of stabs for a rapid jab that ends with a single lunge forward.
    • Forward tilt: Pinpoint Thrust
      • Bandana Dee thrusts his spear as far forward as he can muster. Better range than other spear attacks.
    • Up tilt: Skyward Thrust
      • Bandana Dee thrusts his spear straight above himself.
    • Down tilt: Slide
      • Bandana Dee slides forward with his foot out, much like Cloud/Min Min/etc.
    • Dash attack: Ground Thrust
      • Bandana Dee plunges his spear into the ground in front of himself, then slides forward. Slightly laggy for a dash attack, but can knock opponents upward.
  • Smash Attacks
    • Forward smash: Gale Thrust
      • Bandana Dee thrusts his spear forward with enough power to carry himself forward a short distance.
    • Up smash
      • Bandana Dee thrusts his parasol above his head and opens it. Doesn't reach far, but covers almost the entire space just above Dee's head.
    • Down smash
      • Bandana Dee scrapes his spear on the ground around himself, making two rotations. His weakest smash attack, but it can knock foes upward.
  • Aerials
    • Neutral aerial: Windmill
      • Bandana Dee flips upside down and twirls his spear below himself. More powerful below Bandana Dee than on his sides, and cannot attack upward.
    • Forward aerial: Multispear Thrust
      • Bandana Dee quickly thrusts forwards multiple times. Each thrust has a different angle, making the attack hit a wider space than others.
    • Back aerial: Back Thrust
      • Bandana Dee spins around in the air and thrusts his spear straight forward.
    • Up aerial: Parasol Drift
      • Bandana Dee opens his parasol above his head, decreasing his fall speed until he takes another action. This attack only deals damage when the parasol is initially opened.
    • Down aerial: Moon Drop
      • Bandana Dee spins in midair before dropping downwards spear first. Carries opponents along.
  • Grab & Throws
    • All of Bandana Waddle Dee's throws are based on the Parasol ability's "Circus Throw" attack, where one balances the victim on top of the opened parasol before using it to fling them in whatever direction.
    • The exception is the down throw, which is instead based on the Parasol Twirl attack: Bandana Dee jumps up and drills the parasol into his opponent.
    • Dee's throws are not his strong suit; they don't serve well as kill throws and aren't the most reliable for combos.
  • Special Attacks
    • Neutral special: Parasol Swing
      • Bandana Dee swings his parasol forward. The attack itself isn't very strong, but it's faster than most of his other attacks, and the parasol can block attacks/negate projectiles. In addition, if B is held, Bandana Dee will hold the parasol out in front of himself after the swing and can move around with it (though he can't dash or midair jump). Bandana Dee cannot turn while holding the parasol; it must stay in the direction the attack was initially made until the parasol is put away. After the swing animation is complete, contact with the parasol will not deal damage.
    • Side special: Waddle Spear Throw
      • Bandana Dee throws his spear forwards. Charging the attack allows three spears to be thrown at once (Waddle Triple Throw). In midair, the attack can be performed rapidly, though with lower damage (Waddle Spear Barrage). The spears pierce through opponents, but only deal damage once per opponent.
    • Up special: Waddle Copter
      • Bandana Dee leaps upward and spins his spear above his head, causing him to rise upward for a time before slowly descending (during the descent, the spear’s attack speed and damage is decreased). Similar to K. Rool's Propellerpack, but it can be charged to increase the height of the initial leap and allows for greater horizontal movement at the cost of the ascent being a bit slower.
    • Down special: Beam Whip
      • Bandana Dee swings his spear from high to low as an electric aura covers the tip (resembling the Zap effect from Star Allies), swinging a long-range electric whip off of it. This attack is rather slow, but it reaches far and can hit high above him at the start (and even below him slightly at the very end). The beam can drag opponents along.
  • Final Smash: Bandana Star Blaster
    • Based on the Buddy Star Blaster from Kirby Fighters 2 (which in turn was based on the Star Allies Sparkler from Star Allies). Bandana Dee signals towards the screen, and an orange-and-blue version of the Buddy Star Blaster flies from the foreground to the background in front of him. Any opponents hit by it are caught in a version of the Buddy Star Blaster cinematic (with Bandana Dee manning the Bandana Star Blaster alone).
I've also come up with two different Spirit Board concepts for him.
Random unrepresented characters:
I came up with some ideas for Bandana Dee's music and Spirit Board.
  • Returning Old Song
    • Checker Knights (Air Ride)
  • New Remixes
    • Megaton Punch (Super Star)
    • Apple Scramble (Battle Royale)
  • Original Tracks
    • The Greatest Warrior in the Galaxy (Super Star Ultra)
    • That Stubbon Tree (Rainbow Curse)
    • VS. The Wicked Company (Planet Robobot)
    • Dededestroyer Z (Battle Royale)
    • Heroes in Another Dimension (Star Allies)
    • Passion of the Tridental Mages (Star Allies)
Note that these were created quickly and are somewhat rough.
Spirits with bold names already exist in the base game, though without a spirit battle.
Please be aware of periodic changes to these spirits.

Dream Friends:
I think that the most likely scenario for a Bandana Dee Spirit Board is to fill it with all the Dream Friends.
  • Pre-Existing Spirits
    • Rick
    • Kine
    • Coo
    • Gooey
    • Daroach (didn't have battle in base game)
    • Magolor
    • Susie
  • New Spirits
    • Marx (Kirby Star Allies)
    • Adeleine & Ribbon (either together, as an enhancement of a regular Adeleine Spirit, or separated)
    • Dark Meta Knight
    • Taranza
I'm not sure what the requisite "Legend Spirit with unique skill" would be though. I think the most likely are Void Termina, Morpho Knight, or "Kirby's Dream Team" (Kirby, MK, Dedede, and BD as a group).
