Sidenote, any ideas for how Eddie would work as a Spirit battle?
Here come our noms!I gotta do something this morning, so let's transition before I forget. ahemtoday , nom time!
That, and he's attracted to food items and armed with a Rage Blaster to reference his descent into insanity. His Spirit Effect would be Shooting Items +.Wario on Summit. Easy.
I’m totally fine with whatever anyone decides to do. It does make some sense to award more points to something that a ton of work was put in like a full moveset.Wario on Summit. Easy.

I'm noticing there's a lot of partial gameplay concepts that, according to discussion from before, I don't think I'm supposed to award noms for. But today, there were a whole bunch of those, it felt like. Also, awarding the same amount of noms for a question and a full even-the-normals moveset feels a little bit off to me.
I was wondering how you would feel if we started giving 5 noms for those gameplay concepts, and then maybe 10 noms for full movesets?
Do assist trophies count as gameplay concepts? (Not to sound ungrateful or impatient, sorry if I came off that way)Here come our noms!

Yeah, I think that sounds pretty fair. Let's test that out for this day.Wario on Summit. Easy.

See that's a tough question to answer because Castlevania itself also varies wildly in iconography and tone across the entire franchise. Some games are quite serious, some games are Rondo of Blood. Some don't even have Dracula's Castle. Some of them are set in the future even now! But the relevant portion of this day is Bloodstained, There's two Bloodstained games. One is Curse of the Moon, which doesn't really have much of a tone because it's based mostly on Castlevania III, an NES game. Little story and dialogue, all pixelated gameplay. The other is more famous, Ritual of the Night. You'd think it takes from Symphony of the Night the most but it's more similar to the handheld games that came slightly after SotN. Very much goes for a steampunk style thing instead of pure gothic/religious like real Castlevania, and also a lot more quippy because Internet, but generally about as serious as those Castlevania games I mentioned before.Having never played Bloodstained, the thing I remember most about it is that there was a Vinesauce sword.
I know Bloodstained is a spiritual successor to Castlevania, but are there any significant differences in iconography or tone? Is it more lighthearted, darker, or about the same? Does is stick with classical monsters and Christian symbology, or does it take a different direction? How different is the Bloodstained castle from typical depictions of Dracula's?
I haven't been able to play many Castlevania titles, unfortunately, so I can't speak for tone, but in terms of lore and symbolism, the notable thing is that it downplays the vampires and Hammer horror in favor of alchemy and crystals. In addition, it's main source of inspiration is the demons from Ars Goetia. That being said, the church does get involved in the story in a pretty major way.Having never played Bloodstained, the thing I remember most about it is that there was a Vinesauce sword.

Suddenly I'm interested.Having never played Bloodstained, the thing I remember most about it is that there was a Vinesauce sword.
I mean, there's no way to know that on a surface level. They explicitly call it "Gun", too. I mean, I know it's fake too, but you can't expect everyone to know that.Question: Since Smash Bros. has never had any realistic bullet-shooting guns (and no, Joker's gun isn't real; also, Snake's guns fire missiles and explosives instead of bullets), and assuming no realistic guns are allowed, would that also apply to early guns (such as colonial-era guns)?
She wouldn’t get in over those, but that’s not the point of the thread.Off the whole sea of indie reps, why Miriam? She did have some importance in the indie scene but I don't understand why she should get over the likes of Shovel Knight or Quote.
True, though I think that still would've worked as a loophole.I mean, there's no way to know that on a surface level. They explicitly call it "Gun", too. I mean, I know it's fake too, but you can't expect everyone to know that.
I mean, nobody said she should Bloodstained is just a solid metroidvania title and had a really successful Kickstarter campaign, and she'd just be fun to see in Smash.Off the whole sea of indie reps, why Miriam? She did have some importance in the indie scene but I don't understand why she should get over the likes of Shovel Knight or Quote.
Bloodstained keeps the same gothic aesthetic the series is known for with a classic setting of well over a century ago. As for tone, CastleVania's typical mostly serious tone with wacky moments carried on, but Miriam's personality and the full voice acting help improve the lighthearted moments, like Miriak delivering food for a sidequest while sheepishly asking if she can take a bite or rescuing him who Miriam gets fed up with and threatens to beat his ass if he doesn't get his act togetherHaving never played Bloodstained, the thing I remember most about it is that there was a Vinesauce sword.

Miriam has enough tools in her arsenal to make like 8 movesets before needing to reuse moves, her most iconic weapons are a generic whip in the Curse of the Moon series, Blue Rose, a sword with the ice element and the Swordwhip, which I think is self explanatory. However, her bread and butter is the sheer variety of Shards she gets from defeated enemies. This are all sorts of spells that can be familiar like the traditional CastleVania subweapons but many other things like aimable streams that either do damage or inflict a status, summoning familiars to attack alongside you, create fire pillars to cover the screen, have haunted paintings protect you by circling you, absorbing blood that stains the enviroment after damaging enemies to heal and a hell of a lot more, especially if we count the special moves unique to certain weapons and/or weapon typesI've seen a lot of stuff about Bloodstained myself, and even then I still don't feel familiar with this. I feel like Miriam could set herself apart from the Belmonts quite easily. I have next to no knowledge of the series in spite of seeing so much, aside from genre and style of gameplay, tbh.
Realistic guns are fairplay as Smash doesn't make thar distinction, but for argument's sake, the guns are very stylized and they don't even fire real bullets most of the time as you can equip specific rounds to have specific elements or be the hardest hitting weapon in the gameQuestion: Since Smash Bros. has never had any realistic bullet-shooting guns (and no, Joker's gun isn't real; also, Snake's guns fire missiles and explosives instead of bullets), and assuming no realistic guns are allowed, would that also apply to early guns (such as colonial-era guns)?
Because she slaps, next question.Off the whole sea of indie reps, why Miriam? She did have some importance in the indie scene but I don't understand why she should get over the likes of Shovel Knight or Quote.
That's a lot of stuff to work with. It sounds like Shards would be the specials - if you had to narrow it down to just the few we tend to get in Smash, which ones would we get, do you think?Miriam has enough tools in her arsenal to make like 8 movesets before needing to reuse moves, her most iconic weapons are a generic whip in the Curse of the Moon series, Blue Rose, a sword with the ice element and the Swordwhip, which I think is self explanatory. God, I wrote up a moveset once but it got lost because I didn't want to double post and drafts only stay up for a few days, but I imagine Miriam having a shard as a Smash attack, Riga Storæma's literally Palutena's up smash, as for what she could have for the B moves, she'd need probably use Invert as her up special, which inverts her gravity, Smash likes referencing infamous weapons I feel Welcome Company would be included as Vergil's Spiral Swords and she'd need a directional shard as her neutral b, I remember thinking of Lethargy, which afflicts Slow for thatThat's a lot of stuff to work with. I'll put all my noms toward Hat Kid, for the record.
If I may give you some advice, you could save your moveset onto a Word document; that way, you could give out the moveset for a later time.God, I wrote up a moveset once but it got lost because I didn't want to double post and drafts only stay up for a few days, but I imagine Miriam having a shard as a Smash attack, Riga Storæma's literally Palutena's up smash, as for what she could have for the B moves, she'd need probably use Invert as her up special, which inverts her gravity, Smash likes referencing infamous weapons I feel Welcome Company would be included as Vergil's Spiral Swords and she'd need a directional shard as her neutral b, I remember thinking of Lethargy, which afflicts Slow for that
Nah this **** was like a year ago when Curse of the Moon 2 had just been announcedIf I may give you some advice, you could save your moveset onto a Word document; that way, you could give out the moveset for a later time.
One of the most memorable setpieces is the train section where you're on an escort mission as the one being escortted, you could easily have the castle, train and a laboratory as a scrolling stage to show off multiple.parts of the castle. Maybe even add that easter egg enemy as a cameo tooI really like Miriam! I haven't done much thought on how she'd function in Smash before, but I do like her. I voted for her on the Fraymakers Kickstarter Backer Ballot!
How would a Bloodstain stage function? Do we have a large stage as we don't have a Metroidvania repped like that, or a smaller boss arena?

Hell no, giving her the NotAxe, NotCross and NotHoly Water is a major disservice to both seriesAy, it's Miriam. So how does you incorporate this Shard thingy that she has? Make it the same as the Belmont?
So what do you think is her 3/4 main Shard? Actually, how many is it?Hell no, giving her the NotAxe, NotCross and NotHoly Water is a major disservice to both series
I already have examples for what I imagine for 3 of her 4 specials but as for Shards as a whole, there's a ****ton with different categoriesSo what do you think is her 3/4 main Shard? Actually, how many is it?
Oof, just by seeing the 1st one minute and I already been overwhelmed lol, with how it has multiple categories I imagine her special to be different, basically different categories of attack for different special and incorporate some of it into her normal attack since her normal sword attack doesn't have a lot of animation, I think?I already have examples for what I imagine for 3 of her 4 specials but as for Shards as a whole, there's a ****ton with different categories
Keep in mind these are all maxed out on upgrades so they've got stronger effects here than usual
By categories I mean types, there's shards you activate by simply pressing the button, Directional shards that have you usenthe right stick, passive shards that give you a buff, familiar shards that summon an ally that fights alongside you until you dequip it and a third attack shard with the R button.
