Screw adding more Pokemon. Add Wonder Red as DLC.

Pummeling people with a giant red hand is something Sakurai should look at. Seriously. Wonder Red is like one of my favorite choices.

Wonder Red would be really cool. I could see him playing like a tiny Captain Falcon. It's funny to think about.

Viewtiful Joe really gives me some ideas about how Wonder Red could play. The speed and attacks of Joe fit Red pretty well.
I mean, they certainly bear some resemblance.

I'd rather have Dillon or Saki as DLC. Pressure specialist or agressive zoner.

I doubt that we'll get any characters with set roles in the game as DLC.
Ridley, for example, obviously has some role in the game, so we can probably count him out of DLC.

As for characters like Roy, Squirtle, Ivysaur, and potentially Mewtwo and Lucas, they probably have data in the game, but were not completed. They would make for easy DLC as a result. They could act as this game's Forbidden 7, and Nintendo could finish them up and release the completed character as DLC. I personally think Mewtwo will be in the game regardless, but still.

Maybe some characters like Inkling and Blaziken could be used as advertisements. We'll have to wait and see how DLC works.

There are more things going for Mewtwo now than there were Krystal for Brawl. But chances are he's still an afterthought who will get his due when the initial roster is all taken care of. I suspect he wasn't among the characters chosen for Smash 4, but eventually Sakurai noticed the overwhelming demand and started planning him afterwards, as DLC. I mean we can't deny how well he would sell, and it doesn't look like he was given priority in his series again.

She was highly requested, but nowhere near the most requested. That goes to Sonic, with the highest requested characters who didn't end up playable probably being Ridley and Geno. Maybe Mega Man too.

The heaviest requested back then was Diddy Kong and King Dedede. Krystal was definitely top ten material, though.

Geno was, and still is, a character that had a lot of things going against him that prevented him from making it onto the roster. Going back to my original point about Mewtwo, I don't think there's many characters that can really compare to him. He's pretty much the most popular character request, and unlike some of these other popular requests from Brawl, there really isn't much reason for him not to be in the game.

If there were DLC characters, I would like them to be a mixture of characters that were maybe cut or not yet finished and needed further development time and characters from newer Nintendo franchises such as Splatoon, Code Name STEAM etc.

Speaking of DLC characters, I wrote up a moveset for Inkling yesterday.
I was thinking about how she could play and I ended up really liking the ideas I came up with.

INKLING MOVESET

Inkling is a character that exceeds in ranged attacks and traps. Many of Inkling's special attacks revolve around paint and her paint gun. The paint shot by Inkling can remain on the stage for a short while. The more paint covering the stage, the more powerful Inkling becomes. Inkling is also a character that requires patience and management of resources; Inkling runs out of paint after using enough attacks. When Inkling is dry on resources, she must find a safe place to restock, in order to continue squirting paint at her opponents. Upon KO, Inkling's paint goes away and her tank immediately fills up.

NSpecial (with paint in tank): Splatter - A standard shot of Inkling's paint gun. It can be fired in quick succession by pressing B rapidly (a la Fox's Blaster) or shot far and powerfully by holding down B to charge and releasing. The strong shot pushes you back a slight bit. This is useful for both setting up paint around the stage and racking up your opponent's percentage.

NSpecial (with an empty tank): Refill - When her paint is short, Inkling must fill her gun up again to continue painting. Refilling the tank takes several seconds, so Inkling must find a safe place to do so, or else her opponents may be able to sneak up on her in the process.

SSpecial: Paint Roller - Inkling pulls out a giant paint roller and runs a short distance while rolling it across the ground. This is mainly used for covering lots of ground with paint, but can be used to push your opponent and cause minimal damage. To make up for its great coverage, this also uses up a lot of Inkling's paint.

USpecial: Paint Rocket - Inkling aims her gun at the ground and shoots, sending her upward and squirting paint below her. This covers ground directly below Inkling, and is a helpful recovery when necessary. Although the less paint you have in your tank, the less distance you travel.

DSpecial: Portal Traps/Squid Transformation - Upon pressing Down B, Inkling shoots the ground directly in front of her to create a paint portal. After creating two, pressing Down B allows Inkling to transform into a squid and jump into said portals, and causing her to pop out of the other portal and turn back to normal. Transforming into a squid when you aren't close to a portal does nothing: you simply hit the ground and turn back to normal. When other opponents walk into these portals, they are temporarily stuck in the sticky paint, as they can't travel through them like Inkling. This ability gives Inkling some of the best transportation options in the game.

Final Smash: Teamwork - Inkling whistles and waves at the screen, causing four Inklings to jump from both sides of the screen and raid the stage, squirting paint everywhere and attack your opponents. Your teammates' paint increases your power as well, so Inkling is at her strongest during her Final Smash. However, the paint goes away immediately after the other Inklings retreat.

Most of Inkling's standard attacks revolve around melee attacking with her gun, so these are her best options when her paint is dry.

Don't underestimate Geno's fanbase, Super Mario RPG was a grand game, I mean he was even referenced in Superstar Saga.

You never know how popular a character will be, yes Ridley and Mewtwo far outstrip that but still he had and still has a fair bit of support.

I'd guess if Geno was owned by Nintendo he would've been in Brawl, even with his overall minor importance in his series. That demand was overwhelmingly loud.

That's basically the tl;dr version of it.

I can't think of an equivalent right now, but Sceptile is probably the closest at the moment.

It is a logical thought that they won't make particular characters as DLC. Such as the ones you mentioned.

I don't see the parallel to Sceptile. Even if they're both fairly illogical, people are at least requesting Sceptile because of remakes and the existence of Charizard and Greninja, while Geno's demand not only dwarfed Sceptile's, but existed solely due to the character, not any recent games or who already was on the roster.

This is a bit of a different case. They don't have a major role, and every character gets a trophy anyway, so I think they'd be up for DLC grabs.

Well given that all we are doing is making assumptions, even if they have logical behind them, there is still room for error.

Logically if Lucas, Ivy, Squirt, do have pre-existing roles in the game there's reason to believe they wouldn't be DLC, but it'd just be a guess.

I would argue that "Trophy" isn't an actual role as compared to being an Assist Trophy. boss. etc/

Ridley, King Dedede, King K Rool, Diddy Kong, Geno, Sonic, Megaman, Krystal

I think those were the common ones. Wasn't Isaac high on requests as well?

It doesn't make sense at all because every character that isn't playable will fall into that, and having the role of an Assist Trophy would actually benefit the developers more because recycling reasources will save time and money on development whilestill satisfying the audiences.
