Lucas was going to be in Melee and was a higher priority than Ness in Brawl. Why would he be cut?

I'm not even arguing. Star Fox and Mother are 2 of my favourite series if Lucas and Wolf returned i'd be thrilled. I just don't think they will.
A heads up: I'd suggest ordering the characters by franchise horizontally rather than vertically when you have 6 Pokémon reps, it makes it a whole lot more organized instead of having 'Puff be so split from the rest.Well then this is the roster I think is possible.

Precisely, it is impossible to establish a correlation between Brawl's priority list and Smash 4's priority list. However, it is reasonable to assume that it is not stagnant. This was already confirmed, in fact.

I think that these characters will get in (except for Mii and maybe Chorus Men), but alongside more characters. Newcomers and veterans. After getting Toon Link, Ike, and Lucario, I don't see why Wolf and Lucas would go. And Jigglypuff has a weird placement. But you have the majority of the top-priority characters. Seems alright. Ridley, Shulk, Dixie, and Isaac would be exciting.Well then this is the roster I think is possible.

I want Ridley because I think he is likely. I didn't want him prior to realizing the he was in the game. However, his inclusion incites me to "want" him.

I imagine the amount of backlash the detractors will receive, especially the more vocal ones, would be rather painful to go through. Being wrong about something you claimed to be impossible isn't exactly a pleasant experience.
They will suffer; they will finally become aware of their utter incompetence. If that doesn't hurt them, I would not be surprised, it is not as though they believe that they are intelligent. In that case, it is just gratifying.
And look how that turned out.

No, I'm not quite that sadistic. I just want to see them be reprimanded for their atrocious behavior towards supporters, that's all.
That is an interesting possibility. They do need something to keep the hype going for the time between the two's release dates.
