I'll say this right now, if Sakurai is willing to make IC DLC for the N3DS, he wouldn't have cut them from the Wii U version

That's why the only chance I see of them coming back is on an NX port.I'll say this right now, if Sakurai is willing to make IC DLC for the N3DS, he wouldn't have cut them from the Wii U version
Let's talk about Rayman, shall we?So, anybody wanna talk about Rayman or Chun Li?
If Sakurai does mention something about Rayman next week, it''d mostly likely be him hinting to us that Rayman is indeed coming as a DLC character. It'd be too much of a coincidence if he starts talking about Rayman just in time after 1 year of Rayman's trophy reveal. I just hope there's something going on behind the scenes with Nintendo and Ubisoft. I'd love Rayman to actually be in Smash.Let's talk about Rayman, shall we?
Next week will mark one year since the Rayman trophy was revealed.
Do you guys think Sakurai will reveal how he got a trophy in the game on his weekly Famitsu column next week?
One for me?I got two of them...
No, he is not. But he is still more iconic than most of the other popular third-parties.I still doubt Rayman has the iconic status of 3rd party "legends" as the likes of and even . But feel free to point me wrong.
Rayman is way more iconic than Snake. No, he is not. But he is still more iconic than most of the other popular third-parties.
Honestly I'd say Rayman's around Bomberman's level, personally. Which is also Snake's level.Rayman is way more iconic than Snake.
Sora over Pheonix Wright?Third-party iconiness tier list
S: Pac-Man, Sonic, Mega Man, Ryu
A: Snake, Rayman, Bomberman, Slime, Black Mage, Heihachi
B: Simon Belmont, Banjo-Kazooie
C: Sora
D: Professor Layton, Shantae, Phoenix Wright
E: Jack Frost, Bayonetta, Shovel Knight, Jibanyan
F: Geno, Crono
Feel free to suggest changes or additions.
I moved Crono up to the E tier, same tier as Bayonetta and Shovel Knight, because he has only one major appearance and the game was released a very long time ago. I added Cloud to A tier.I'd think Crono would be one of the bigger icons than Bayonetta and Shovel Knight.
You should add Cloud Strife somewhere in the list.
I moved Wright up to the same tier. Should I move Layton up as well, or is Wright clearly more iconic than him (I'm not familiar with either series)?Sora over Pheonix Wright?
I move up both Layton and Wright to the B tier unless someone has something against it, but I won't move Jibanyan up, as the series is fairly new and Japan-only (although the first game is apparently coming to NA later this year), so I feel he (he is male, right?) should be on the same tier as Bayonetta and Shovel Knight. And B tier is way too high for a Japan-only character.I'd Put Jibanyan and Layton and Wright at B tier.
I find it unlikely that Sakurai would celebrate such an anniversary in that way, especially when that day is remembered more for something else.Let's talk about Rayman, shall we?
Next week will mark one year since the Rayman trophy was revealed.

Poor Layton, kicked out of his own now-mobile franchise.
you're kidding me rightRayman is way more iconic than Snake.
Metal Gear Solid lost some of it's popularity. Rayman gained alot...you're kidding me right
Metal Gear Solid is a far more popular and influential series than Rayman.
You're kinda underestimating MGS and overestimating Rayman.Metal Gear Solid lost some of it's popularity. Rayman gained alot...
Trust me, he is an extremely big icon in Japan.I move up both Layton and Wright to the B tier unless someone has something against it, but I won't move Jibanyan up, as the series is fairly new and Japan-only (although the first game is apparently coming to NA later this year), so I feel he (he is male, right?) should be on the same tier as Bayonetta and Shovel Knight. Not really, don't look at it from that perspective. The Layton franchise is still going to continue even if YW is in the lead of being Level 5's biggest franchise.Poor Layton, kicked out of his own now-mobile franchise.
Okay, I move him up to the D tier (I might consider moving to him to C tier later) because of his Japanese popularity.Trust me, he is an extremely big icon in Japan.
Yokai Watch is a big franchise in the same way Assassins Creed and Call of Duty are noticeably popular within the U.S. Region.
Oh this looks fun, let me try!Third-party iconiness tier list
S: Pac-Man, Sonic, Mega Man, Ryu
A: Snake, Rayman, Bomberman, Slime, Black Mage, Heihachi, Cloud
B: Simon Belmont, Banjo-Kazooie, Phoenix Wright, Professor Layton
C: Sora
D: Shantae
E: Jack Frost, Bayonetta, Shovel Knight, Jibanyan, Crono
F: Geno
Feel free to suggest changes or additions.
Jinbayan is better known than Crono or Shovel Knight? Really?Third-party iconiness tier list
S: Pac-Man, Sonic, Mega Man, Ryu
A: Snake, Rayman, Bomberman, Slime, Black Mage, Heihachi, Cloud
B: Simon Belmont, Banjo-Kazooie, Phoenix Wright, Professor Layton
C: Sora
D: Shantae, Jibanyan
E: Jack Frost, Bayonetta, Shovel Knight, Crono
F: Geno
Feel free to suggest changes or additions.
I only moved him up because of BluePikmin's suggestion. He was originally same tier as them. (And now I'm considering moving him back to E tier again...)Jinbayan is better known than Crono or Shovel Knight? Really?
Other than that, it looks good.
Well, it depends on whether we're making the list based on West, Japan, or globally.I'd suggest to go the support thread or research about Yokai Watch in Google. You'll be surprised how much the franchise has accomplished since its debut in 2013. Heck I was surprised when I first learned about the franchise.
It's not either, it's iconiness in general (or internationally).Well, it depends on whether we're making the list based on West, Japan, or globally.
If it's the West, he would be lower, and I'd place him alongside Sora in Japan. Which is it?
C Tier is the fairest, Jibanyan has accomplished more things in Japan than Shantae would ever have, arguably more than what KH has accomplished really,I only moved him up because of BluePikmin's suggestion. He was originally same tier as them. (And now I'm considering moving him back to E tier again...)
EDIT: Okay, I'm asking a question regarding my tier list: Should Jibanyan be in E or D tier?
I'd say keep him where he is then.I only moved him up because of BluePikmin's suggestion. He was originally same tier as them. (And now I'm considering moving him back to E tier again...)
EDIT: Okay, I'm asking a question regarding my tier list: Should Jibanyan be in E or D tier?
Let me add the fact that I have literally no idea what you are talking about until I just looked this up. I knew about Yokai Watch, but it's only really known in Japan (and for those who have seen the trailers for the international release I guess.)I'd say keep him where he is then.
Jinbayan may be successful in Japan, but in the general scheme of things, it's a not big name in gaming just yet. And add that Japan as a whole has a smaller population than Europe, North America or Australia.
Yeah, I highly suggest you further research.Let me add the fact that I have literally no idea what you are talking about until I just looked this up. I knew about Yokai Watch, but it's only really known in Japan (and for those who have seen the trailers for the international release I guess.)
While Yokai Watch may be popular at the moment, it's definitely not on a worldwide level.
I feel like Rayman and Banjo are similar in that they are 3rd party characters who are somewhat plausible but their expectations and chances are so small that at best we can expect what Rayman got, a trophy at most.Rayman Is not much of a big icon when it comes to Japan either I'd move him down to B to C tier.
Most Ubisoft franchises don't do as well in Japan from what I heard. Yeah I checked the sales for Japan in VGchartz for origins, Great Escape, the original Rayman, and Legends, they are noticeably low.
Yeah, I highly suggest you further research.
Shantae's actually our version of Mother 3, never in Japan, but they want to play them. Hell, there were quite a few people going 'where's Shantae?' before it was confirmed Risky's Revenge's Japanese release was delayed. If Jibanyan becomes popular outside Japan, then it's fair. Japan's a much smaller market anywayGlobally is the best way IMO.
C Tier is the fairest, Jibanyan has accomplished more things in Japan than Shantae would ever have, arguably more than what KH has accomplished really,
Ryu and Snake both wear bandanas. That's a coincidence.I'd just say the order of iconic third parties in Smash goes . After that... well, whether they're S or A or Z or whatever, Rayman is probably next in line, unless we get someone with almost no Nintendo connections like Cloud Strife in Smash.
