Being a Krystal enthusiastic, of course I'd love some (more) Star Fox Adventures in Smash; =P... and the UFOs could work as a Boss Fight... they just need to put a good amount of them, acting in a pattern of attack, messing with the player in a more chaotic behavior.
I could see that working. The UFOs would probably have a small amount of health each but they would be hard to hit.

You're forgetting all the casual Smash players. The Smash community is much larger than the people here on Smash Boards. Ivysaur may be more popular to people on here who used him in Brawl. But I am willing to bet that Bulbasaur would be more appealing to the majority of people.
Um......No. Your logic is flawed. Any starter could be the first Pokémon someone ever had. For me it was Oshawott (Yeah yeah. Laugh all you want). Ivysaur is already established in Super Smash Bros. It would be more work to transfer his moveset to Bulbasaur. It would probably anger fans more than it would appeal to them. And besides, If you haven't played Brawl or Melee, then there would be more incentive to buy the DLC because you haven't played them. It would essentially be a newcomer for you.

I support bandanna dee. But i still think it would be a cute reference if RNG could save you and you fight the battle from Ultra for the second to last fight

(for those who dont know)

fixed return to revenge and added marx who I somehow forgot. ..
imo just use arena dee since just making him a joke boss would take al his potential away and make more people thinkthe's a generic waddle dee

You know what would be cool for stage related DLC? Having Fourside return from Melee on the Wii U only with a day/night system included. It would look gorgeous!

Bulbasaur is far more iconic than Ivysaur, and would require no moveset changes. Bulbasaur is the better choice.

I came here on Sunday asking if anyone's got a photoshoped image of Smash 4's roster with all the cut veterans put back in.
I'm asking again, does anybody have anything like this lying around?

:4mario::4luigi::4peach::4bowser::4yoshi::rosalina::4bowserjr::4wario::4gaw:
:4dk::4diddy::4link::4zelda::4sheik::4ganondorf::4tlink::4samus::4zss:
:4pit::4palutena::4marth::4myfriends::4robinm::4kirby::4dedede::4metaknight::4littlemac:
:4fox::4falco::4pikachu::4charizard::4lucario::4jigglypuff::4greninja::4duckhunt::4rob:
:4ness::4falcon::4villager::4olimar::4wiifit::4drmario::4darkpit::4lucina::4shulk:
:4pacman::4megaman::4sonic::4mewtwo::4lucas::roymelee::squirtle::ivysaur::wolf:
:popo: :pichumelee::younglinkmelee::snake::4mii::?:

It'd be a roster with just these characters on it.
Now I do.

Thank you. Someone who thinks with logic. This is a game of Nintendo's all-stars and Ivysaur is far from an all-star.

I don't know about you, but I feel that WFT and Greninja are likely to become unlockable characters for the next generation of Smash, in the same way Wario is in Smash 4.

Because with Nintendo losing its interest in the casual market it conquered with the DS and Wii, and that 6th Gen will be old story by the time Smash 5 will get released, most people will think they will be dropped because of "LAK OFF RIVILANSY AND UNIKENESS", and when discovering the whole roster, BAM!, surprise sukahz ! :awesome:

I guess I can imagine them including the fully evolved Grass Starter from gen 8 (Yes I expect gen 7 to get the shaft) for Smash 5....
Greninja is a cool pokemon though and I hope he stays.

You know what? I want to play a game: Add which characters you'd add in the roster as newcomers of all franchises currently in smash, third parties and total bias allowed
:4mario:: Captain Toad, Fawful - it seems strange to exclude Toad in any form when he's playable quite often in main Mario games, and the Mario RPGs have surprisingly little content in Super Smash Bros.

:4dk:: Dixie Kong, K. Rool - Dixie makes the most sense, what with her appearance in Tropical Freeze as well as being playable in two of the three Super NES games, while K. Rool has so much more material to work with compared to most characters in general, let alone ones in the Donkey Kong franchise.

:4yoshi:: Kamek - outside of the baby versions of pre-existing characters, he seems like the most important recurring character.

:4link:: Midna, Ghirahim - both are quite popular (with Midna in particular being one of only four characters to get multiple versions of herself playable in Hyrule Warriors, and Ghirahim getting in that game over Demise), so I find it strange that they were relegated to assist trophy status when Zelda's characters in SSB have been basically unchanged since Melee.

:4pikachu:: Genesect (and Squirtle and Ivysaur) - Squirtle and Ivysaur are both veterans with unique movesets, so that's pretty straightforward. I haven't been familiar with Pokemon since generation three, but as far as recent Pokemon go, Genesect really stands out, for being a bug-type Legendary, one of the very few man-made Pokemon, and having a natural weapon built in as well as the ability to transform.

:4samus:: Ridley (Super Metroid version) - this is long overdue; it's ridiculous that Metroid is only represented by different versions of Samus after four games, Ridley is easily the most prominent character in the franchise outside of Samus herself, and when it comes to the reasons that were given for his exclusion, most of them seem hypocritical given that a lot of characters have the exact same issues.

:4kirby:: Bandanna Waddle Dee, Dark Matter - while I feel like Kirby is generally fine with the three characters that it has at the moment, Bandanna Waddle Dee has been playable surprisingly often (and seems like a pretty good choice for a character, given that Return to Dream Land alone gives most of a potential moveset), and Dark Matter seems to be the most commonly appearing villain. For Dark Matter, I figure either the swordsman form from Dream Land 2 or its true form from Dream Land 2 and Dream Land 3 could work.

:4fox:: Krystal (and Wolf) - with Lucas coming back, there's no reason why Wolf shouldn't. For Krystal, it would be nice to have a Star Fox character whose moves weren't clearly inspired by Fox, and I'd like to see Star Fox Adventures get acknowledged.

:4ness:: Giygas (Mother 1 version), Porky (Earthbound version) - I figure these two choices would connect the Mother series, with Giygas (in his Mother 1 form, since his Earthbound form wouldn't really work) bringing together Mother 1 and Earthbound, and Porky bringing together Earthbound and Mother 3. Plus, I'd like to see more playable villains, and both of them seem like they'd be interesting.

:4falcon:: Deathborn - even though I'm sure more people would prefer Black Shadow getting Ganondorf's moveset, freeing Ganondorf up for something that actually represents how he fights in the Zelda games, it doesn't seem like the development team is going to change Ganondorf's moveset. Besides, I feel like Deathborn has a more interesting design.

:4marth:: Tiki, Anna - I'm not overly familiar with Fire Emblem, but I'd prefer someone like Tiki, who has a completely different way of fighting compared to the other FE characters, over someone like Roy (do we really need a third character who plays identically to Marth?). It helps that Tiki and Anna are both characters who appear throughout several instalments, something which (by my understanding) is relatively rare in that series.

:4wario2:: Captain Syrup - it would be nice to have Wario Land actually acknowledged, seeing as they removed the only attack that Wario had which related to it in this game. Plus, as a character who's fought Wario several times, it seems like she'd have more to work with than the various micro-game hosts of WarioWare.

:4olimar:: Plasm Wraith - as far as Pikmin enemies go, it easily has some of the most diverse attack patterns, taking on qualities of all five of the Pikmin in Pikmin 3 as well as being able to shape-shift, and it helps that it can shrink, getting to about the size of a captain by the end of the battle.

:4pit:: Medusa, Hades - I'd like to see Medusa get acknowledged, seeing as she's Pit's classic villain (plus, she got screwed over a lot in Uprising), but Hades also seems like he'd be a fun addition.

:4shulk:: the seventh party member - I haven't actually recruited this character in Xenoblade yet, but by my understanding, this character seems like one that would be interesting to play as, and they seem like they'd have more to work with than the other party members from Xenoblade (though, again, this character hasn't joined my party yet, so I can't say for sure)

:4littlemac:: Bald Bull, Mr. Sandman - Bald Bull is one of the most iconic and recurring characters in Punch-Out outside of Little Mac and Doc Louis (plus, he's got a super move that really stands out as far as the boxers go), and Mr. Sandman is legally the closest that Nintendo can get to having Mike Tyson in the game.

:4gaw: (retro): Sukapon, Mike Jones (and Ice Climbers) - it would be nice to see Joy Mech Fight, Nintendo's first attempt at a fighting game, getting some recognition, and while Star Tropics wasn't released in Japan (meaning that, as far as the Japanese public is concerned, it probably doesn't exist), it would be nice to see it get recognized, seeing as it didn't even get a sticker in Brawl. Ice Climbers are pretty straightforward, seeing as they're the sole representative of their franchise and were cut for questionable reasons.

:4villager: (other): Wonder Red, Isa (Sin & Punishment), Isaac, Ray (Custom Robo), Inkling - all of these are action-packed franchises with a wide variety of characters, and the first four were overlooked in favour of some questionable choices. I'm aware that none of them sold particularly well, but if sales meant anything significant when it came to Smash Bros., we wouldn't have gotten Ness in the original, Marth in Melee, Shulk in this game, etc. I feel like they all deserve a chance at gaining the extra exposure that Smash Bros. brings, given that Nintendo barely advertised their games when they were originally released (if they were advertised at all)

I edited this post because I realized that I forgot the Inklings; I'm hoping that Nintendo uses this DLC as an opportunity to advertise Splatoon so it doesn't have the same issues that these other franchises have, and I feel like they would be quite interesting to play as.

:4sonic: (third party) Bayonetta, Rayman, Terra Branford (and Snake) - Snake's a veteran with a completely unique moveset whose series invented an entire genre; I really want to see him return, more than anybody else on this list. Rayman and Terra represent two of the biggest third party companies which don't already have someone in Smash Bros. (went with Terra since she's the main character of the last numbered Final Fantasy title on a Nintendo system), and Bayonetta represents a well-liked third party company that, while not as major as the others, has produced consistently good games (even the Legend of Korra was really good, given that it was a licensed game on a low budget) and has supported Nintendo in recent years more than most of the big names when it comes to third parties. (besides, Nintendo has Bayonetta 2, which met near-universal praise, as an exclusive, and yet they haven't done much to show that off)

Admittedly, most of this falls into the "never going to happen, why would I even consider this" territory, but I figure it couldn't hurt to be thorough.

:4mario:Toad (I'd prefer him over the Cap.), Fawful (MnL series rep), Petey Piranha (I'd just find it fun to have him, though I guess he needs to be desized from the SSE)
:4yoshi: Kamek (Uses Magikoopa attacks and broom or whatever), Baby Bros (Unlike Ice Climbers, they share they're hitbox, but they're still a double team)
:4wario2:(Wario Land) Captain Syrup (pierutz r c00l) (real reason: she's a cool character from WL, not like there are other options)
:4wario:(Wario Ware) 9-Volt (Moves based on retro nintendo games and gadgets) Jimmy T. (Mostly joke-character)
:4dk: Dixie Kong and Cranky Kong (I have a bit of bias)
:4link: Vaati (4 Swords rep), Ganon (way diferent from Ganondorf, is a super-heavyweight with a trident) and Tetra/Toon Zelda (who cares if Telda would be a clone)
:4samus: Readleh Sylux
:4pit: Viridi
:4marth: FE If character
:4kirby: Bandana Waddle Dee and Adelaine
:4fox: Slippy (lol)
:4pikachu: Sceptile and Diancie
:4gaw::4duckhunt::4rob:(retro) Balloon Fighter
:4ness: Jeff and Porky (in spider-mech from EB)
:4falcon: Samurai Goroh
:4villager: Tom Nook (Villager semi-clone with a bells collecting gimmick)
:4olimar: Pikmin 3 Trio
:4wiifit:(Random Character you sometimes question why they put in the game) Reckless Safety Man
:4shulk:-(Never played Xenoblade)
:4pacman: Pac-Ghosts
:4megaman: Proto-Man (Megaman Semiclone with shield) and Zero (X rep)
:4sonic: Tails

Well, I guess that's it.

You make it sound like Bulbasaur doesn't evolve into Ivysaur. Or is this Pichu vs Pikachu vs No Raichu logic?
As part of Pokemon Trainer the 3 Gen starters went as Squirtle the Starter, Ivysaur the Middle and Charizard the fully evolved.
the dynamic Smash 4 seems to have is Charizard, the fully evolved Gen 1 Fire vs Greninja the Gen 6 Water. This equasion is missing a Grass starter, just saying.
And to be totally honest, the open plant on Ivysaur's back seems like just a little more to look at than the seed on Bulbasaur's

You know what bugs me at times? Victory fanfares. DHD get the 'Level Start' instead of the 'level over' theme, Ganondorf shares the theme of the other Zelda characters and that particular fanfare hasn't been used since Zelda 1 iirc. I love the current Earthbound fanfare but that's based on Mother 1, the game which has no characters in smash. Pokemon's theme is iconic but dull. Mega Man's is amazing but it's not the classic victory theme from the games too

I want an article on source gaming too :skull:

Of course I have no idea what i would even write about other than like. . .sakurai bias.:lol:
The only thing I could write on a lot that I have interest is trying to define how the repping of ssb works.

cause I realised one thing the series fascinate me is how it can make a completely incompatible character from a game that is everything but fighting game and put it in smash so it can feel compatible.

Imagine, you have Ness who do turn by turn battles and attacks that has quite simple animation. Say, PK fire, it just is incompatible with ssb because it can't hit a row.....but they abstracted it by making it multihit and stay a while for some time.

I could give lots of examples, but this is what fascinates me the most about the series. I realised that the repping of the game is really complex if you think about it and it's the thing I showed the msot interest in general speculation.

The problem is I don't think my theory has enough to make it understandable and I also am not really sure if it's worth considering how controversial I see this topic....

I feel like that unless Greninja has an explosion of popularity in the next few years, it won't be in the initial roster in SSB5. I feel that WFT is going to stick around based on her uniqueness alone. She's basically this game's Game and Watch.

I would say that role personally belongs to Duck Hunt personally.

If theirs any cuts in Smash 5, I really hope it's her. She never really felt right in Smash at all. Sorry if that offends any WFT fans.

I feel like WFT was a lot more WTF than Duck Hunt. I think she fits perfectly because of how goofy of a concept the character is, literally attacking with yoga poses. She's a joke character without the insufferable unplayableness that most joke characters are plagued with (AKA Pichu).

Smash Bros. is designed to be a game about Nintendo's history as a whole, not just the last few years. In that sense, WFT still makes sense as a character inclusion in Smash even after the Wii Era because she was always meant to be a relic of that era. Like how say, Mr. Game & Watch is a relic of the time when Nintendo produced G&Ws. It's both uniqueness and their significance in Nintendo's history that keeps them around.

Oh well when it comes to that aspect then I guess your right, I was thinking more among the lines of weird retro character you didn't think would join the Smash roster (i.e. G&W & R.O.B.).

Is there even any point in debating which characters may or may not be secret characters in the (hypothetical) next game?

I mean, there's almost no way to fully predict it, and it's ultimately an inconsequential detail. :dizzy:

Well, we have to fill the 5-6 year gap somehow. Anyways, I think it will be much less of an issue in the next game thanks to DLC anyways. They may not make the initial release but if they're liked enough they'll probably be put back in within a year of the game coming out.

I personally don't see Smash 5 coming out until late 2021 or early 2022.

Speaking of which, how many characters can you see being playable in Smash 5? Do you think it's a stretch to say that with DLC included we could potentially see 100 characters in the game? Personally, I never expected we would get close to 60 characters in Smash 4 so I think it might be a possibility for Smash 5.

6 was groan worthy

was Another Code First or Second Party, I think it would have been neat to see Ashley from that be playable

The issue is its such a miniscule franchise. I do like the look of the character, but its Japanese only (I think?). I believe it is Nintendo, though.

Another Code definitely wasn't developed in-house, though. Its developer, Cing, was apparently an independent company before they shut down. They developed Glass Rose with Capcom on the PS2 and Little King's Story was published by Xseed, Rising Star Games or Marvelous Entertainment depending on your region.

That Hotel Dusk trophy in Brawl was pretty funny looking.
