I am pretty much done with speculation. However, considering how much they seem to love cut veterans that are their own people, I imagine that there are plenty upset about Wolf and Lucas being cut. Keep in mind Wolf was among the most wanted characters for Brawl in Japan as well. I imagine that the Roy fanbase there still has their fingers crossed since Mewtwo and Dr. Mario came back.

They also want a DK newcomer, though I think its in favor of Dixie over K. Rool, much in how K. Rool is over Dixie here (both are highly requested here, but K. Rool more so). Bandanna Dee is also enjoying more support due to having another role in a commercially well-received Kirby title.

I don't see any other proper newcomers having support. Everyone else they wanted pretty much got in terms of newcomers outside a DK character (and to a lesser extent Bandanna Dee). Keep in mind there are also very few characters even in the West that enjoy a lot of support. It would probably look the same as it does on the Japanese side with the exception of our support of Isaac.
Awesome, thanks for chiming in on the convo! I know you are taking a back seat in all of the speculation now, but it's still good to hear from you.

This doesn't change my thoughts on DLC at all. It's basically cut vets, Isaac, Bandanna Dee, A DK rep, a Zelda rep, Captain Toad and maybe some other "promotion" characters.

Yeah. I pretty much see the same, except I am not optimistic on Isaac. Support for a Golden Sun character is low in Japan, and I think a GS character getting in as DLC is pretty much contingent on Camelot making another game in the series for the 3DS. Last I heard (2011?), they seemed pretty reluctant to make another RPG (likely due to the poor performance of Dark Dawn), although there is really not much else left for them to do now that they finished their Mario Golf and Tennis 3DS titles, so who knows.

I admit, a big part of my Golden Sun optimism just stems from my desire to see Isaac playable. I do think he has a better chance then nearly any other character from an unrepped series at the moment. The only way I see a non-Isaac rep from a new IP making it in is if Nintendo adds someone like the Inklings due to heavy promotion of a new IP. (Nothing against the Inklings, though, I would love to see them make the cut as well.)

Ray has not been a thing since the pre-Brawl days, and even there he didn't register on the Top 10 most wanted newcomers.
He is from a fighting game that is very popular in Japan and is the flagship franchise from that particular developer and the fighting game that invented custom fighters something that is now is SSB and Also had great multiplayer battles which were in a 3D style that was great and made the game amazing and is the most underrated Nintendo IP but is beloved and deserves a game on the Wii U imagine a Custom Robo for the Wii U with the endless possibilities in today's gaming environment with all the customization, online play, and the DLC. Wouldn't it be great?

Custom Robo isn't popular in Japan. There's a reason why the series has been dormant for eight years.

As unlinkely, or likely he may be, Ray would be a pretty cool addition to Smash.

It was a smash hit in Japan and is why it released world wide and why Nintendo invested in them and kept them alive when their over branching parent company went south.

Also you have to admit that Ray is probably in the top 3 characters to be added that isn't a previous cut or from a franchise already represented.

Alphadream does care about geno (maybe they own him). You can name at least 20 important than geno, like gommba? This guy has nothing to do with smash
Geno is owned by Square Enix, Geno has only made a cameo from a game that was released 11 years ago, that's hardly a merit
20 characters more important than Geno
1. King Boo 2. Kamek 3. Kammy Koopa 4. Lubba 5. Petey Piranha 6. Professor Egad 7. Pianta 8. Toad 9. Toadette 10. Daisy
11. Fawful 12. Boom boom 13. Pom Pom 14. Waluigi 15. Birdo 16. Nabbit 17. Dry Bowser 18. Toadsworth 19. Honey Queen 20. King Bob Omb
It wasn't so hard

Dry Bowser would be an alternate skin and most of those characters have been deconfirmed as stage hazards, assist trophies, and Smash Run Enemies, which leaves Geno as the most popular next choices and most logical.

Citation please on the first one. At least since the N64 (I don't have more recent sales data) none of the Custom Robo games broke 150K. I am sure the Nintendo 64 games performed solidly, but the series never left being niche.

As for the second one (being among the Top 3), I don't know. I know for sure there is more support for Isaac and Inkling, and there does seem to be more support for Lip. After Isaac and Inkling though, its more of a tallest ****** contest as opposed to actually having a notable level of support.

Isaac and Ray both have equal support among the MIA and both fall under the representative of their franchise category and both would make great additions and would help push a new Custom Robo since it is an amazing franchise and does deserve a new game.

Something I do want to talk about with Bandana Dee. It doesn't really effect his chances but it's important to know.

Waddle Dees in general are potentially the most popular characters in the Kirby series. The developers have even said, and I quote from the Kirby's 20th anniversary Celebration Book: "Cute little Waddle Dee has become one of the most beloved characters in the Kirby series." (Pg 18)

Waddles dees are just huge. Every Kirby game has had Waddle Dees. Waddle Dee's are generally the only enemy to be given diverse personality in the games, as well as a multitude of weapons, machinery, skills, etc.

In terms of importance, while it could be argued that for Bandana Dee it's:
1.Kirby
2.King Dedede
3.Meta Knight
4.Bandana Dee

When talking about Waddle Dees, it's more like:
1.Kirby
2.Waddle Dees
3.King Dedede
4.Meta knight

I often hear from Bandana Dee supporters that Bandana Dee became a playable character in Return to dreamland because he himself was popular, and from the detractors that it was just random.

In actuality, it was because Waddle Dees in general are popular, and being able to play as one is a dream come true for a lot of Kirby fans.

However, I do think Bandana Dee's appearances after that was actually due to his own popularity.

Now of course, seeing how this is all for the Waddle Dee's in general this doesn't really help Bandana Dee.

But, there is one thing to take from out of this. Bandana Dee is a staple character, and if he is not one, he will be. Why? Because it would be foolish to have the character version of what they even said to be "one of the most beloved Kirby characters" and just not do anything with him.

Even if he doesn't make it into smash 4 as DLC, Bandana Dee will get more roles, he will probably get his own side mode of his own like Meta Knight or Dededetour.

Important to note, I'm not trying to say that Bandana Dee should get in for being important and being a "4th Kirby rep", I only want people to know he is important to those that care.

Do I think he will get in?...I'm still a little skeptical on how they will handle DLC, but I still think it's quite possible.

Nope. As it stands, the only true newcomer that enjoys more support for DLC among Western Smash Bros. fans is K. Rool.

No way Ray is anywhere near Isaac in terms of support. Like I said, even in Ray's heyday he was not among the Top 10 most wanted newcomers.

Ray's only hope is that a new Custom Robo is in development for the 3DS and Sakurai is privvy to this.

Going by the MIA Isaac Assist Trophy principle, he has a pretty good shot. Going by popularity principle, less of a shot. This is Sakurai we're talking about, he has had a fair amount of Custom Robo representation in Smash since Melee, so who knows, maybe he thinks the franchise is worthy of a roster spot. Also, let's not forget how many "unpopular characters" made it in, or better yet, how many "popular characters" didn't. In the end it all depends on Sakurai, not popularity, not relevancy.

Speaking of K.Rool, I'm not too familiar with him. Now, I think he should still be in on being a popular and iconic characters, but, If I recall correctly, the movesets I keep hearing was:

Cannonballs,
boxing gloves
A super speedy attack,
crown,
etc.

He was described as a "Heavyweight Projectile user."

Now we have Bowser Jr. He uses cannonballs, boxing gloves, a super speedy attack, and he is a heavyweight. I would easily describe him as a heavyweight projectile user.

So what DOES K.Rool have to difference himself from Bowser Jr? I'm actually curious.

No, you were saying Ray is a popular addition when he's not. He's very niche. The fact is that there is barely any fanbases for true newcomers left at this point. K. Rool, Isaac, Dixie Kong, and Bandanna Dee are the only notable ones left. Inkling might break out depending on Splatoon's reception, but its iffy considering the the small installbase for the Wii U.

Custom Robo does have more representation than Golden Sun in these games and correct if I am wrong but Golden Sun has no representation what so ever right?

Also King K. Rool is the only villain to not try the same plan twice and so he has a bunch of different movesets to pull from and all of those you mentioned were from one of his different schemes.

not relevancy.
Every single newcomer that got in Smash 4 had an important game role in the years between Brawl and Smash 4, with the sole exception of Duck Hunt (of which relevancy doesn't apply since they're this game's retro slot).

Custom Robo does have more representation than Golden Sun in these games and correct if I am wrong but Golden Sun has no representation what so ever right?
Custom Robo had three trophies in Melee and Brawl, some stickers in Brawl, and an Assist Trophy.

Golden Sun had one trophy in Brawl, one song in Brawl, and an Assist Trophy.

BOTH have NO content at all in Smash 4 3DS, which is deeply concerning considering that the last installments for both of those franchises were on the DS, and how focused the 3DS version was on handheld game content.

People have been suggesting a costume playstyle, but that feels forced to make K. Rool unique.
He doesn't have anything in particular that would make Sakurai instantly approve (just moveset-wise) like the Inklings or Bayonetta for example.

You are right. But again just because someone is relevant doesn't mean they're guaranteed a spot, or vice versa, same with popularity, in the end, it's all up to Sakurai.

I view Custom Robo more as a home console game and also it still has a pretty good chance and you can't deny the great addition Ray would make. Can you?

Almost half of the Custom Robo series was on handhelds, and the most recent release was a handheld release. We will see in two weeks whether the series receives any content in Smash 4 Wii U, but personally I am not expecting anything outside of maybe a trophy or two.

Secondly, there is absolutely nothing indicating Ray has a good chance.

EDIT:

Why are you so against ray?

I find it hilarious how when someone implies they don't think a character is all that likely, people who do like that character immediately jump to the conclusion that anyone who doesn't think a character is all that likely is against or hates that character.
