Well, I predict four more newcomer trailers:

1. In August, we will get Shulk, Falco, and Ness
2. In September, we will get Chorus Kids, Wario, and Ice Climbers
3. In October, we will get King K. Rool, Ganondorf, Ghirahim, Ridley, Dark Pit, Meta Knight, Wolf, and Mewtwo--the villains trailer
4. At an unknown time, we will get the joke character trailer: Jigglypuff, Mr. Game & Watch, ROB, and 8-Bit Mario.

Why is it too hard to believe post-launch reveal trailers?

I think it's a fairly solid idea to expect Shulk and at least Marshal as playable. I would most certainly not expect more than 3 other newcomers besides Shilk and Marshal. The leaker had info, but things change in game development, which is why people should see the leak for what it is: outdated but not irrelevant.

I agree with this sentiment despite being one of the leak's more prominent detractors. The confirmation that Chrom was not in the game as a playable character was just that, there is not a feasible correlation between the other characters cited by the leak other than the notion that they were a part of the same leak. It seems as though people are content with advocating for an either/or fallacy.

Why do people think these two things are equal and opposite in worth?
I get the "point for and point against" kind of thinking. Perhaps our ways of thinking just differ too much.

Let me get this out...
I'll just give an example to illustrate my thinking.
Say you're taking a math test.
There's a question at the beginning that asks you simplify some relatively simple expression.
So you simplify correctly, but at the very end you accidentally include an equal sign and set the expression equal to zero.
Just to review in case people don't remember the random details of high school math, an "expression" and a "equation" are different. The former is just a stand alone thing (like 2x + 42), and the latter is is something EQUAL to something else ( 2x + 42 = 0), hence why it called an EQUAtion.
Okay, so, assuming I'm a incredibly cruel math teacher and don't give partial credit, I mark it wrong and you don't get partial credit.
There's another question later on in the test that's a word problem.
Word problems are tough for many students and tend to be long and worth the most points on tests.
You get it completely right. Cool, good for you.
But I'm a weird teacher. This isn't a multiple choice test and all of the questions on the test are worth the same amount of points

Now, two questions...
Is it fair that I didn't give you any partial credit on the simplification problem for such a nitty-gritty detail?
And is it fair that the two questions, one being rather easy and one being relatively long and difficult, are equal in the amount of points that they're worth?
If I were this student, I would not be happy about that. I'd say that it's incredibly unfair and that the teacher is a extremely harsh grader.
And this is coming from a future math teacher.

Okay, now just to make sure this is crystal clear...
The simplification problem is the leaker putting "Goddess Palutena." The correct answer is "Palutena," but they added a little something they shouldn't have. Though, really, they still showed me that they knew how to do the problem. Or, in the case of the leaker, he still knew that Palutena was in the game (Granted, Palutena was an easy guess, much like how the simplification problem was an easy problem.)
The word problem is Miis.
But just saying "Miis" would not have gotten you all of the credit. No, you got the full answer. You put "Mii Fighters." Full credit. Congrats, you got the hard word problem right.
But apparently they're worth just as many points as each other and seem to cancel each other out.

How is this fair? How is this reasonable?
The tough, long word problem should be worth a lot of points, shouldn't it? It was the one of the hardest questions on the test. That short simplification problem should only be worth a few points.

I'm sorry, was that concise? It makes sense in my head, but maybe not when I try to write it out.

I wasn't around either xD. I had found out about Brawl and got it in 2011, Melee in 2012, and the original in 2013, and now Wii U/3DS in 2014 xD.

Well, if this about Xenoblade Chronicles X, I think the protagonist is nameable (and editable) if I recall.

Other characters that I remember seeing from the E3 trailer included Elma and Tatsu. There were plenty of other characters besides the three.

He is officially in Hyrule Warriors (seen in the latest Trailer) which is a non-canon side game that Nintendo authorized but have essentially left solely to Team Ninja. One big factor about Ganondorf that most people don't know about is that he is actually Sakurai's mained character.

Oh..... I still think Ghirahim has a chance just this once, Sakurai did say last year that he had to cut characters and the only cut we've seen is Squirtle and Ivysaur. He also said we weren't getting any clone characters so if Ganondorf does come back, he'll probably have a new moveset.

he seems to be adding random clones for no reason at all, although Galacta Knight and Dr. Mario are a good possibility.

I can understand Toon Zelda and perhaps Dr. Mario since they where planned before (and Sakurai's recent statement that even if the character has one gameplay difference besides their model and voice, they become their own separate character) but Galacta Knight? As much as I enjoyed Triple Deluxe and Kirby's adventure. I don't know that much about the series although I have heard of him. Does he make quite a few appearances?

I can kinda see (and WANT) Toon Zelda being on the roster just so TL won't be the only Toony Character for the Zelda reps. Dr. Mario won't, he'll be an Alternate Costume (hopefully). Galacta Knight.....who is he? Sorry, but I never played the Kirby Games.

Not sure if we'll be seeing anymore trailers before the launch of the 3DS version comes out. But didn't Sakurai already stated that he is nearing the bottom of these newcomer trailers or something?

I dont completely remember where I read it (pls dont hate me) but i remember i read online an interview from sakurai saying that they don't have time to recreate every character and that clones would be cut. However they kept toon link and made lucina a clone. When i find the source i will post it though



EDIT: Turns out the whole "clones will be cut thing" was a rumor posted in the same week as the "Some characters will be cut" interview. I might put Ganondorf back on my roster, but for now i'm keeping ghirahim

Even though I prefer Dr Mario over Plain Mario when it comes dow to Smash, I just don't see him happening again. I wouldn't mind him being playable again though.

He makes two appearances, one in Kirby Super Star Ultra and one in Kirby's Return to Dream Land. He's more or less a hidden boss in both of them and acts like a harder Meta Knight. He was replaced by Dark Meta Knight in Triple Deluxe.

The main character in X is completely customizable as far as I know. I myself doubt they'd put him in over Shulk.

So a hidden veteran makes you think we'll get hidden newcomers? That is heavily flawed logic. The article i already linked shows Sakurai's desire to make a trailer for all newcomers.

Even if you think lucina is her own character deserving a trailer, that doesn't mean that Sakurai thinks the same thing. She, as a newcomer, does not have artwork on her main page, and her slot on the website isn't even newcomer sized. It's obvious she was thrown in with Robin, and unless we get more last minute clones like her, then the last few trailers will be our last few newcomers.

How is that logic flawed? If Sakurai was planning to reveal all characters before hand Game and Watch would be confirmed by now. The fact that he hasn't been tells me that some characters will indeed be kept a secret until release. If we go by what happened in Brawl we can expect at least 4 hidden newcomers.

I think that most people want karate guy and rhythm wrestler bc no one can think of a good move set for chorus kids/marshal. Sakruai can make move sets for anybody really. He's obviously a creative guy

To be honest if we get anymore clones I wouldn't mind Galacta Knight that much, but I don't see how they'd make him differ from Meta Knight, he doesn't have the kind of moveset where you can make an obvious distinction like with Mario and Dr. Mario or Marth and Roy/Lucina. Slower but more powerful would be incredibly awkward for that moveset as it pretty much defeats the purpose, and there's not really any way to make Meta Knight faster than he is. Ground-based Meta Knight? Doesn't really fit Galacta Knight much as he's just as aerial as Meta Knight in the games, and Meta Knight is already great on the ground anyways.

In total I think there are better characters to give a clone than him if it has to come to that, if anything Galacta Knight fits better as an alt costume now that we know Sakurai is willing to change the character completely for costumes, and even then I'd prefer Dark Meta Knight.

EDIT: Plus, Galacta Knight uses a lance and a shield, so it'd be very hard to make him fit with Meta Knight's moveset which is based on fast sword swings.
