Evo is now officially gay, instead of saying "Wow I can believe we had ****ing items on." they say "We MIGHT be interested in doing items off next year."
I think we should be more concerned about getting Melee picked up again than worrying about their Brawl rulesets.

I highly doubt they'll have melee again unless the smash community completely deserts brawl and moves to melee.

Evo should definitely take place in NY at the next event. Im sure the biggest majority of smash players is in the east coast and its easiest for people to commute there.

EVO isn't centered around Brawl, it has other fighting games too. Saying they should move somewhere for the smash community, more specifically because you don't want to travel, is dumb.

Okay...
Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Thanks for taking things so negatively.
I'm sure a ton of people would benefit from Smash being held in the East. I live in Florida. Having EVO in NY won't make me go. In fact it's Brawl in the first place, I play Melee.
Having NY is a good idea I dunno maybe because it's the second BIGGEST CITY IN THE WORLD. Also something to look at is the NY area is a hotspot for almost all video games. Maybe you should consider things much more open minded and not focus in on the negative "in-depth analysis" of what someone could be wanting. Maybe someone is just saying something.
Negative nancy.
Then again if Vegas is as cheap to fly to as everyone says, then I guess Vegas is the idle spot.

Dude, evo will NEVER move east. Consider:

Evo is a SF tourney foremost. There's already like 2 or 3 major SF tourneys in the NY area, whereas Evo is the major tourney for the west coast. Why move it for that?

Vegas has the cheapest airfares. Vegas has other stuff to do outside of the games that are easily found. And most of all, Vegas is far, far cheaper to hold an event in than anyplace east of the Mississippi, because you don't need to pay union fees to have them set your **** up - you can do it yourself.

I know someone mentioned the game lineup, and it's pretty much been confirmed over on SRK that nearly all the old games will be getting dumped in favor of the new games. But the evo staff don't seem to like to run more than 6-7 games due to time constraints, so I wouldn't expect to even see Melee mentioned as a possible title. They've already got like a billion other candidates.

NYC is not from the 2nd biggest city in the world, dude :p it's top 10, but it ain't bigger than Tokyo, or Mexico City.

Honestly, all talk of moving Evo should be dropped since that will never happen. Evo is in Vegas, and its going to stay that way. Its part of the Evo experience after all.

Also, there really shouldn't be any talk of Melee being picked up. There is absolutely 0% chance of that ever happening, so don't get your hopes up. The only possible inclusion of Smash will potentially be Brawl, if at all. We can only show our support to them for the inclusion of Brawl with a decent ruleset in 2009, which would be awesome. There is nothing else to discuss here.

I don't know which is more of a depressant: cocaine, or what you just said

And I'm absolutely serious about that.

I think Evo 2K9 would be great without items, there would be a bigger turn out and there wouldn't be as much crap about how items ruin tourneys. (I'm not saying they don't). Also, Evo wouldn't be the "odd tourney out" then.

LoL cocaine is a stimulant. Or was this post supposed to be ironic? Or maybe you were talking about what makes you depressed? Me too. Not having melee is really depressing.

I always saw the EVO tournament as a fast paced fighting games competition. How then is brawl justifiable? I can't even believe items got turned on at all.

I think melee barely makes the cut for being a fast paced fighting game like street fighter but considering brawl is out of the question.

Obviously EVO is alot different than i thought. I'd go to Vegas for Melee but I think Brawl alone at EVO is whack.

I read most of SRK's Brawl afterthoughts thread, and they don't seem to want to switch items off. I know the heads of EVO are considering it but the player base is against it.

The response was kind of sickening, one quote was "good job showing the smash kids that items can work in a competitive setting." Obviously they just looked ridiculous but a lot of the attendees believed it was a huge success.

Others said that items made it fascinating, people said that they slept through PC vs M2K (one of my favorite Melee sets) in '07 but were cheering for '08's items-Brawl. Tons of people were giving way too much praise to CPU and trying to make him seem like the best Smasher in the world. Sounds a lot like Gamestop and Nintendo, no?

Sad times.

Well in terms of a Brawl based ruleset shouldn't EVO focus more on the Brawl playerbase than another game's players? And I can't believe that people there didn't like PC vs. M2K in 07. Anyways, that match between Ken and CPU was so boring. Pretty much every Brawl match I've seen without items was more entertaining than that...

Getting used to FL.....slowly.
Let evo hold item tourneys and do as they wish, we don't have to enter their events if we don't want to, and we don't. So what if some scrub wins because of items, obviously he won for a reason, and he was just luckier than Ken. Oh well.

Seriously, if the brawl community is so desperate for this kind of competitive play, wait until the CPL comes back and I'm sure they'll be up for holding tourneys.

Otherwise, stop complaining. If evo doesn't want to see that item play is not good for competitive purposes, **** em.

QFT, Iggy is too good.

We have moderators like you? astounding.

I seriously could care less if evo picked up melee again or not. They can't even seed a bracket correctly, let alone hold a good competitive tournament anymore for smash, so obviously we are better off w/o them.
