Bomberman for SSBB?

There's no doubt characters like Sonic and maybe Megaman have priority over Bomberman. But Geno? I don't think so.

Geno is just a ridiculous character addition, IMO. Bomberman is a much better choice, and brings WAY more to the variety table than Geno ever would. "Beam attacks" my ***.

Sakurai wants him, he's number one in Japanese polls for 3rd Party (Other than Sonic) and he's got a solid fan base in America

Funny you should mention that, since a lot of people consider him to be the BEST character from an AWESOME game, myself included. And aside from Mallow, not only are the other playable characters poor representatives of that specific game (having already originated from the beginning of the Mario franchise), but are all also, oddly enough, already included in Brawl.

To be honest I wouldn't care if he had a fan base in Antartica.

I have never played Super Mario RPG so I can't pass judgement on Geno as a character but it is clear you are a big fan. For your sake and Geno fans like you, I hope he is in Brawl.

However this is the Bomberman thread. I have no problem with Geno; I hope he is in Brawl to appease all his fans, but this is not the Geno thread. This thread is slowly turning into Bomberman vs Geno. For all our sakes, let's hope they both get in. That way the argument could be resolved in the best way - playing Bomberman vs Geno in Brawl.

Once again the Bomberman thread has disappeared into obscurity. I don't understand why this thread cannot maintain momentum. Maybe not many people are that interested by the idea of Bomberman in Brawl. But I cannot understand why this is the case. IMO he is one of the most logical third party additions, along with Sonic. I have yet to see logical arguments against his inclusion, apart from the 'he sucks' or 'all he will do is throw bombs.' The movesets suggested in this thread clearly dispel the later argument and I'm sure Sakurai would find a suitable moveset.

Bomberman deserves to be in Brawl..... and this thread will probably disappear again by tomorrow.

I dunno...I think Bomberman is a great character and all, and would make a neat addition into Brawl...but I for one haven't played ALL that many of his games. He's not one of my really loved characters...which is where I tend to spend a lot of my time posting.

Now for the final one, there's Megaman, Pacman, Rayman, Bomberman (why do they all end with man?), and many others going for the spot. I personally think Megaman and Pacman have the best chances. Sonic, Geno and Megaman have the best chances of being in if any 3rd party gets in...Not Pac Man (Have no idea where you got that from)

As for moveset ideas and stuff:
Shield: he engulfs himself in a bomb, kinda like yoshi's shield, and when the bomb/shield takes damage it gets more and more red. When the shield/bomb gets broken it explodes damaging those that get caught in the blast.

Forward throw: Bomber jet (bomberman hero)
Bomberman puts bomber jet on the opponents back which flies a set distance before exploding and sending them in a random direction (except not towards the direction they came from)

Back throw: bomb kick
Bomberman throws the opponent a short distance and then kicks a bomb into their face with full force

Up throw: bomb clobbering
Bomberman takes a bomb holds it with the fuse and hits the opponent with the bomb (kind of like a flail) which causes the bomb to explode and sends the victim diagonally up. Does minor damage to Bomberman.

That's all I can think of right now. Might (and probably will) do more moves later.

Does Bomberman have any different bombs than just the regular ones, I've only played the old games and the party games. It'd be pretty cool if he could have various types of bombs, to further make him different from other bomb users.

well... from the point of view of Bomberman, The Second Attack (the best Bomberman game Evuh!!) he has wind bombs, which could be his up-B. He also has ice, lava, electric, light (uck) and even black hole bombs.
I could see him being a rather comedic character, like a mix of G&W and luigi's dash attack and taunt.
