So, I finally read the chapter.
Pretty gay, and there really hasn't been any buildup to the "reveal" of the cost of the final getsuga tenshou. It seemed to come out of nowhere. :/
Besides that, why didn't Ichigo just continue to fight Aizen normally? He looked like he could have easily won...

If he continued to fight Aizen normally, Aizen would transform again.
Besides, Ichigo losing his Shinigami powers would definitely be interesting. Once the main character isn't the main character, who is?

wanna know what would be really gay? if ichigo was always in the illusion and this entire fight ichigo is like slashing the air while aizen is sitting down drinking tea in his normal attire, no god mode. then when he sees what ichigo can do. hell go bankai and the fight starts LOL

As I can't see them moving on with another antagonist without feeling like filler, this sounds like the only direction it can go.
Still, they have those kids to work on in terms of development.
As much as people hate it and me weekly having MY FACE :| I don't mind having something to look forward to weekly.
