smarg protects J so J can't die, and can get that report.

Yes, that's assuming J is indeed the town watcher.
If he's scum, that means he and his scumbuddies will target someone else and J will claim "I watched smarg and nobody visited her."
He will be called out for lying IF, and ONLY IF, a town tracker/cop/something else targets her, and proves he is not really the watcher. Or he could be a scum watcher and watch her anyway.

This could be true but there is no reason to take a risk on that now. Just because a role can be a scum or town role doesn't mean it is a scum role fakeclaiming. I've been in this spot as town roleblocker in another game and "it could be a scum role so it probably is" is a stupid assumption that scum can really easily take advantage of.

We lynch JTB and worst case scenario we lynch vt. We lynch J and worst case scenario we lose watcher and sentence doc to death. And we get plenty of information from a JTB flip.

Also, JTB says he's just a vt so at this point should be more concerned with helping town than survival. Lynching J right now has more potential to **** over town than it does to help it and fighting your lynch as a vt at this point is being anti-town.
