J's goal is for players to enjoy the game.

Not allowing Ran to speak looks stupid to J because it opposes his goal for the game, whilst it makes perfect sense to you because it works towards your goal.

Whilst allowing Ran to speak is apparently anti-town (I don't know myself but I'll take your word for it), anti-town isn't always a scumtell.

The exchange is null for me. It's just a difference in beliefs.

Do you agree/disagree with either belief?

I'm really not convinced that J would post in such an aggressive manner calling it stupid. If his inital thought is that its too mean to do it. If he finds it really mean surely he'd post just saying its mean and stops them having fun, ergo they shouldn't do it, not posting that its S-Tier stupid or anything. Not to mention that insulting those who said it would run contrary to the idea that he plays so everyone can enjoy themselves.

Give you an example. Imagine you're playing melee free-for-alls with scrubs, obviously you're not trying hard against them, you just want to have fun. If people start picking on/ganging up on a certain player you might think "hey that's mean", and you may even vocalise the thought. But its a bit of a jump to say aloud "That's the stupidest thing I've ever seen".

I also ask you to read some of the posts towards the end of this QT: http://www.quicktopic.com/45/H/e3LTtzDz87tiH and tell me if you believe that in mafia games J plays to make everyone enjoy it, or if you think he plays to win.

I feel that as long as people are intending to play to their win-con, then it's fine. So I guess I agree more with J.

But here's how I see it. I don't think my belief should have any impact on who plays, it's down to the mod's beliefs.

dGames doesn't have much in the way of quality control. The only barrier is the mod's decision on who can or can't in.

In this game the mod hasn't decided on any skill level required. Anyone was free to join. As such, anyone should be free to post.

And yes, I will cite Inception mafia, is that a problem? I'd cite Bear and Fish if you hadn't edited your post out. I believe you are scum, I'm using evidence from a previous game to support this theory, is there anything wrong with this or are you just trying to be cute?

I'm also not saying that you don't play for fun (this is really clear in my posts), but merely that your main goal in mafia games is not to make everyone enjoy the game, but instead to win.

@Seik: I'm pretty sure you're OK. Better check in the rules thought (or PM the mod). Tbh I think the fact that in his post he calls people ******-dumb is enough to disprove the theory that his main goal in this game is to make everyone's experience more enjoyable.

I still dislike Glyph and would like to see him go, BSL's responses have been less then self-satisfactory but I think most of what is against him is being blown out of proportion to a degree. I'm getting a town vibe from BSL and I still stick to my Glyph scummy vibe.

I can quote posts from Inception mafia that prove that I do care about others fun while playing a game regardless of alignment. X1 you still don't understand that Ranmaru is a player in this. He didn't join this hydra to make everything more complicated. He joined so he could... you know.. play. Limiting him from speaking is something that one:

1)Keeps him from truly playing
2)Makes him wait on us to read the quick topic, which makes information come by slower
3)Aggravates all three of us in the hydra because honestly Ranmaru, while having trouble wording things and looking scummy because of it, is probably the best player in this hydra. I would understand if you wanted us to re-read his posts and word them correctly, but making it where he can't post is a no-no.
4)His thoughts and questions actually aren't that bad if they're worded the way he wants them to be.

We decided pretty much right when the game started that whenever we had a huge post, that we would all read it and make sure that it's right. Spelling, Wording, and making sure that it gets the point across is exactly what that is. We're not going to limit Ranmaru from posting in the hydra for the sake of you not being able to read him. We'll help word his bigger posts, but that's it. Sorry if this disappoints you or anyone else in the town. You all expected(or should have) this when everyone knew that our hydra was playing >_>.

It is 100% clear this is not what I am saying. If you are going to defend yourself, defend yourself from my points, not from the version you made yourself.

I believe you are scum for several reasons you deflected attention from yourself (#542 "This isn't gonna go anywhere" when I start attacking you). That coupled with some of your non-answers to questions - #406 you are asked about the smar parrot and manage to say that She was parroting, and that she stop parroting. Probably above all you are scummy because of the way you defend yourself, you don't refute or explain the points made against you, you jump easily on the points which are easy to refute (and make a big show of being right/defending yourself in those situations (#567)- the same quote repeated three times and then two separate lines on whether a post what agressive or not.)) Townies have reasons for their actions and thus don't need to make excuses or defend themselves in the way J is doing.

J once again, I'm not saying that you don't care about others, merely that its not your primary aim, your aim is to win. I've shown evidence of this.

@Seikend: J insulted people in the same post you believed that his primary goal is to increase the enjoyment of the game for everyone else. Do you still believe that is his primary goal? If yes then how do you explain him insulting someone? If his main goal is to make people enjoy it, surely him being insulting is against that? Unless he only has to make people enjoy it to a certain level? That doesn't make sense.

On the other hand, if you don't believe its his primary goal, then back to earlier: do you find it suspicious that he stated boldly it was "stupid", but then changed his stance to "mean" to defend himself against it. Seriously just think logically and actually take a stance soon.

This post is so scummy, its clear what my poinst are because I've repeated them a good couple of times, yet J is taking an opportunity to make his own version of my case. At no point did I mention, or even allude to the fact that its down him him arguing, or arguing hard. But J nonetheless mentions this, presumably so he can prove it wrong later and get the illusion of being town. Townies ask yourself, why would a town player make such random statements as this? He knows why I'm attacking him because I've made it clear, that post is only going to lead to confusion, or misrepresentation of my points. Why would town want that? Town can explain their actions? J is just saying random statements in an attempt to undermine my attack against him.

Glyph is looking town to me, I completely understand his stance towards J and how it differs from KevM saying he is town. I even noted J's pregame post about not being scum in the first page.

Don't like J's AtE, I saw him abuse the **** out of it in Inception while mafia and people actually fell for it. So yeah, he's leaning scum for me as well.

As far as the proposal that Ran shouldn't post, I completely disagree with that. However, if the hydra begins posting many conflicting opinions and makes it extremely difficult for town to read it, vig should just shoot the hydra imo
