Which provides more height, a max height tornado performed during a jump (not counting the normal height gained from the jump), or a max height drill rush? I find it hard to determine since you have to subtract the height of the jump from the 'Nado. If they're equal, I guess their use depends on whether or not you're trying to grab the ledge.

Edit: I know there's a Q&A, but it seems like the type of thing that would he handy for any MK to know.

well, if youre REALLY far away from the edge, you can use shuttle loop and glide really far down and then farther back up...i think the percentages was something like 1.25:1.5 with the shuttle loop going down and up. but for most situations, drill rush is the best

As everyone else has been saying, Drill Rush definitely gets the best immediate recovery height, but if you manage to fail to sweetspot the edge, MK's "pop-up" is a prime way to get punished with a smash attack from the opponent. Like brinboy said, from long distances, gliding is an even better way to achieve vertical recovery if you have enough time to get the momentum necessary to do so, but drill rush is the quick, convenient way to achieve vertical recovery.

So I should Jump-MT when the edge is covered and I don't need the vertical height of a drill rush, but still significant vertical height. Good to know.

I was under the impression that you could not glide higher than the hight where you started the glide. Is that false?

Short answer: Yes.

Long Answer: No. What brinboy is referring to is building up speed by first angling the glide down and then using that speed to fly back up higher from where you started. What I think you're describing, tilting the glide upwards from the start, will not result in significant gain of height.
