1.) Naruto is not horrible. Filler episodes from most anime are horrible, and that's probably what you saw.
2.) Naruto Shippuden is flat-out utterly fantastic.
3.) Don't spam these boards with a post that has no content relating to the topic. Post on my profile if you want to continue to debate.

Let's talk about Naruto.
The manga is excellent. Everything before the time skip was great in the manga. Great with all the drama, humor, and plot that any manga lover could ask for.
After the time skip, things kinda slowed down. It was hard to catch up with everything at first, and some of the arcs were pretty good.
The art style changed a lot. It attempts to be more realistic as opposed to the very cartoony humorous style in the early chapters of Naruto. It's less detailed and IMO it's not as attractive as an art style, but hey, things are looking up in the CURRENT chapters.
Sasori/Deidara arc was pretty good. It really showed Naruto and Sakura really step it up.
New Team 7 and Orochimaru... that was, uh, interesting. The Naruto vs Orochimaru fight was pretty cool I guess.
Hidan/Kakuzu arc was good. Gotta put this in spoilers since the anime hasn't caught up to this yet:

After ALLLLL those fillers... I think the anime's quality has REALLY gone down. I think the animators are trying to imitate Kishimoto's new style in Shippuuden and the quality is really horrible compared to, say, episodes 40~133. Episode 133 was the climax of the anime and I think ever since then, there's been hardly anything exciting. Or at least... it doesn't really live up to past episodes of Naruto.
I stopped watching Shippuuden since the manga is way better... All Shippuuden is is just fancy OP's and ED's with bad animation, slow plot development, and less-than-epic portrayals of the characters, especially villains.

Shikamaru and Naruto freaking ***** both of them, and this arc really showed that Naruto's generation is really overpowered LOL.

Sasuke and Itachi arc was realllly freaking boring. The fight was a lot less climactic then I thought it'd be. Both before AND after the fight, Sasuke was really emo. Learning about the Uchiha back story was interesting and all, but the arc was really just about Sasuke's emotions and motives. There were SEVERAL chapters of just Sasuke being a crybaby... and now he wants to destroy Konoha? I think it's pretty dumb. I guess it's understandable... but Sasuke as a character is way too melodramatic to be able to relate too. Oh well.

And finally... we now have
Pain's invasion of Konoha. To see the village getting totally ***** and their best ninjas (Kakashi) not even standing a chance, it's pretty interesting to see how this will go on. The art itself is getting more detailed and we're getting to see all the characters again after MONTHS of Sasuke/Itachi nonsense. I wonder how this is all gonna turn out... However Naruto's fights get pretty predictable. I'm thinking Naruto is gonna be cornered and then Naruto's gonna pull something outrageous and finish the fight with some earth-shattering Rasengan. *Shrug* A rasengan solves everything these days.
As for the anime...

God the anime is boring. If it wasn't for my friend constantly bothering me about watching it, I would've never looked back. The manga is interesting though, even if I don't read it. Lol, chok, you know a site with like, ALL of the shippuden ones? So far, I've just been reading off other people's summaries and wiki.

THE ANIME IS NOT CRAP! First of all, you have to skip the fillers. Secondly, the plot development is slow in Shippuden anime because there's a lot of stuff that has to be covered for the plot to be able to develop. It's basically the same as the manga, except reading the manga is faster than watching the anime. Plus, the fight with Sasori was AMAZING in the anime. The music and other fight scenes are also awesome.
I don't get why you didn't like the fight with Itachi, except that the ending was anti-climactic, which it had to be since it would either end with Sasuke getting pwned or Itachi dying from an unknown cause *cough*TOBI*cough*. I mean, the plot twists were AWESOME, and everything tied together so well and coherently... I knew Itachi was good from the start, though, since I'm just that awesome. I've got the perfect Itachi cosplay, by the way, Sharingan, gay fishnet shirt and everything. 
The plot is so much more intricate and elaborate that it was at episode 133. I guess what makes me like Naruto so much is that the plot just keep getting better and better, IMO. Tsunade's boobs are definitely more than 106 cm though.
Back on topic, though: as excelent as Dojo is, he and M2K are in different leagues IMO.

The fight with Sasori, Sakura, and Chio(?) just DRAGGED ON. >_< I mean, god, it was like, forever. Also, the Naruto->Deidara was soooooooooo boring. It was an eternity of 'GIVE GAARA BACK!' Yeah, I think the Sakura/Chiyo vs. Sasori's 100 puppets was the only fight I liked in Shippuuden.
I also knew Itachi was good. He never really showed any feelings of hate or anything toward anyone, and I always questioned his motives. I just didn't think the whole Uchiha plot twist would be so emo and cheesy. It all happened too fast, and Madara's whole explanation was both scrunched up AND dragged on (is that possible? Apparently.) I dunno, I just didn't enjoy it at all.
I'm just glad the manga strayed away from all that Sasuke stuff to now where there are a lot of things going on, featuring characters that I actually enjoy seeing.

Bleach fillers are boring and they randomly appear. At least with naruto, I expected a ****load before shippuden so I just stopped watching. Bleach it was like Story->filler->continue same arc of story. o.O
