A combination of a lot of really scummy/inactive/silly town players made this so hard to deal with.

I hope you guys got your flavor talk out the way with this game. As you can see it doesn't help in the least bit until possibly lylo situations.

Wasn't much I could do. .joel/Marc were my obvious choices the day before I died, but having Reflex in the picture no matter what made things too difficult. By the time I could get rid of all the baggage it was too late to nail scum.

Inactivity hurts games. Town having so many players being replaced/inactive/adumbrodeus made things retardedly difficult since scum could blend in instantly.

Good games all around. I propose the next Mafia game having the most active players in this game and leaving out the people who hurt the game the most with inactivity.

Also, rule of thumb: Do not cast any votes during lylo until proper discussion has been made.

That's how scum pounces happen.

Yeah Pierce, too late, sorry man.

Also, Apex... BBR irl mafia game. I'm modding, you guys in?
I am SO in.

Oh yeah, my modkil was not exactly a modkill. I actually tried to save chibo by making myself get modkilled, hoping that you guys would not waste a lynch. Turns out day still ended, so that was pointless : (

EDIT: .joel, I hate you with all my heart now. Thou are mean.

I didn't use my power to vote BarDulL out, putting two votes on him was the real mistake. It was a ballsy move from us to capitalize on it, but stuff like that happens.

Omni, you played a pretty good game. I do think you need to get less frustrated with inactives and/or bad players at some point though. Removing the weak links from play is only a viable tactic for like the first two Days IMO, you really can't afford to gamble on them being scum beyond that. Shaping a strong endgame tends to be a luxury Town doesn't have unless there's a large pool of good players. Working with what you have is part of being Town, I guess. On a personal level I get annoyed with other players a lot as well, but indiscriminately offing them isn't the solution. Like I said in one of my posts, the lynch pool was way too big for that.;)

People who sign up do need to treat it as a commitment though. =/

So edrees, why'd you off me at night?

Reflex being lynched I felt was the end of town... I'm definitely not the most experienced player, but there were multiple players I thought were scummy (Joel, ShadowLink) who I had thought were more important to target. Both Marc, Joel and Shadowlink played very similar throughout, and at one point I had thought Marc may have been mafia (someone who I believed to be so experienced in this game being as useless for town as any other had me raise the flag). I however ended up believing Bardull was the 3rd man; and thought that if he was mafia that his play was absoloutely amazing and daring :p). I really really wanted bardull to be mafia from watching this after my lynch :p

Even though Omni and Marc are complaining about flavour;
both (mostly Omni) blocking it at every point made my role useless. I wasn't sure how to work with my role, but Umaru was obviously known, and Cyan being connected to Adum was something important for me to work with too. I unfortunately decided to impulsively go out of state for a tournament the weekend of Reflex's lynch, so when I came back to that I was quite annoyed/shocked + then I ended up being killed by edrees, lol. If I hadn't had gone away I was seriously actually going to post something along the lines of Shadow, I know you are here, you do not want Reflex to die. It was my mistake to assume shadow was town though, he didn't have a reason to help out though.

!_!

Good game, I enjoyed it. Hope I'll play better for the next one.

Actually, he did! haha

Relm's role was the anti-Shadow. If she used her ability on Shadow and Shadow was using his ability at all.... Shadow would be killed by his own ability. After Relm died it was clear sailing.

It's looking like Chrono Trigger or FF4 at the moment. I have some cool ideas...

Also, by the by, Pierce did a really good job for coming in halfway through and not having too much time to devote to the game. So... GJ pierce.

I was frustrated with my last kill attempt being wasted since mafia went for scamp too, So I felt like I had to either kill Mafia or someone mafia wouldn't target, and I was going to pick someone more or so inactive. I wasn't sure if you were mafia or not, I had suspected you at the time..so I went for it. At the time I thought it was you, Joel and Hilt. lol

Just for the record, I'm currently developing an own mafia game themed around Star Trek (surprise!).

I've already written up the first draft of the roles, but I'm still working on 'em. If OS has nothing against it, I'd like to host it here in the BBR, as well, cause I know you guys and wouldn't have to wait 9001 games to pass in the public forums before I could start out.

It would contain 12-13 players (still not sure about the 13th, haha).

If it works out, maybe OS and I can rotate between each other hosting mafia games here in the BBR. :)

Here's a sample role, haha:
Sample Role PM:

Q, omnipotent moderator and sample role

"He's devious and amoral and unreliable and irresponsible and... and definitely not to be trusted."

Welcome to Star Trek Mafia, .joel. You are Q. You are the omnipotent being watching over the whole universe with your fellow Q. You lead the game. Congratulations!

Active abilities:
Omnipotence:
You start and end both days and nights. You keep the voting score updated. You send out role PMs to your players. You decide upon replacements, restrictions, as well as warnings and punishments should the players not meet your restrictions. You prod inactive people and are able to modkill.

Center of Attention: All night action PMs will be recieved by you, and you will coordinate all night actions.

Passive abilities:
Omniscience:
You know the role and allegiance of each and every player.

Invincibility: You cannot be killed, lynched, or affected by any night ability.

Restrictions:
Q Humor:
You have to make a terrible joke or a pun with every post you make.

Greater Picture: You cannot play actively in the game.

Special Information:
- Starfleet Academy warns young cadets about you.

Win Condition:
You are aligned with everyone and win no matter what.

at one point I had thought Marc may have been mafia (someone who I believed to be so experienced in this game being as useless for town as any other had me raise the flag).
I tried to feign usefulness, but at some point this always bites me in the ***. On the Dutch smash forum it's at a point where I'm under a lot of scrutiny on Day 2 if I still live and haven't lynched scum on Day 1. That seems about right, because I usually get gangbanged in the first Night phase between Cops, Mafia, independents etc. ;_;

CTrigger mafia is pretty much finished. I'm letting Marc look over it and then I'm going to let the rules sit for the weekend before I look at it again and see if I want to tweak it (you get better results that way).

If Marc decides he wants to play, I'll just load up Final Fantasy IV mafia.

CTrigger is meant to be a smaller game, much faster and everyone has a bit more of an impact. I think 15 was too much for the BBR... I really enjoyed FF6 mafia though, but I think 13 is the max we could ever have.

Someone move this thread to DGames. :B

The FF6 game in there is done too if you want to see. Shadow and Sabin made it to the end again.

I can move it, but do I just throw it in there like this or does it need to be closed/edited first?

Your call. You can close it if you don't want to get tons of notifications from others posting in it, but I don't care either way.
