I mean it's not like it's impossible to get Conker in. We've seen with enough support, stagnant characters (:ultkrool:) can be brought to Smash, it's just a matter of presenting Nintendo with the demand. If people continue to not talk about Conker, he just probably won't get in.

Although Conker lives in Banjo's shadow, I'd argue that Conker is the next face of Rare after the bear given how much attention he receives from Microsoft. Plus, it's not like Banjo is the only one getting Totaku figures and stuff like that (gotta order my Conker one soon!). Whenever Rare/Microsoft promotes stuff, you can always bet Conker is gonna be right there alongside Banjo.

I'd say the only thing that really separates Banjo and Conker is popularity. Otherwise, they've both appeared in the same number of games, originating in Diddy Kong Racing.

This isn't me trying to advertise, but if you some of you are interested in Conker, don't forget the Conker thread exists and remains pretty active for a less popular character.
I hate to rain on Conker’s parade but I feel like if we got another Rare character after Banjo it’d definitely be the Battletoads

I mean sure. That can definitely happen. I feel like Conker and Battletoads both have a 50/50 shot compared to one another after Banjo gets in. But part of me is leaning towards Conker.

Yeah, at least they got a new game and Conker's support hasn't been long-lasting like Banjo's is. On that note, I hope we'll know details about that game soon...

As for Joanna, I doubt she's even remotely a blip on the radar.

Conker's got as much a chance of getting in as anyone else. He's a video game character that had his start on Nintendo, and a popular one from the old days no less. While not my personal choice for a spot on the Smash roster, I support people that want him in!

I don't think people realize how utterly abysmal Conker's Bad Fur Day, and Conker Live & Reloaded for that matter, sold. It's a cult classic now but by no means a popular game when it releaesed. Game literally came out at the death of the N64.

I mean Ness is on the roster and EarthBound was also a flop. If fans can show Nintendo that there's a demand for Conker, I don't think sales from almost 20 years ago will matter a whole lot. Microsoft still sees Conker as profitable, otherwise they wouldn't have used him in 2015 and 2016.

Yeah, Banjo was a blockbuster game in the late 90s, Conker was not. Nothing against the game or character (he’s in my top ten most wanted), just saying.

My point wasn't directed at Conker or his ability of inclusion. I love that game, adore it, one of my all time favorite platformers ever, for good reason, and I'd love to see Conker in Smash. But seeing people on the boards claim that Conker was an old school beloved Classic is just incorrect and ignorant of the charm that he's a Cult Classic character in the first place.

Oh. Hope I didn't suggest that, because that's just flat out false.

I think they should just port it over tbh. Pretty up the graphics, maybe add some new characters and stages. Ultimate can be the new skyrim for all I care.
That right there would be a dream come true, because Sakurai himself has even stated that a repeat of "Everyone is Here" would be unlikely, so right off the bat the next hypothetical Smash game would be at a disadvantage.

I was gonna post about Banjo and Kazooie possibly being an echo for Duck Hunt... but that doesnt really seem possible with the moveset for Duck Hunt.

So on that note... what do you think would be the most likely way that Banjo makes it in (in addition to ballot support and all that has happened with our knowledge)?

In the supposed recent MS & Ninty talks, Nintendo, aware of the demand thanks to the ballot, requests their inclusion. Less likely is MS requests the inclusion, which would probably only occur if there's a game in the works. Less likely still is the Banjo in Smash discussion prompts the larger alleged collaboration (seems much likelier Banjo is a result of and not a catalyst to the "partnership").

Just wanted to thank you guys for being supportive of Conker! I say that because I wasn't treated the same way by Banjo fans on other sites. You guys could've said "Conker sucks. He doesn't deserve to be in" but you didn't!

You've ever played the Ganbare Goemon/Mystical Ninja games? They're amazing underrated games.

Holy ****! Turok is coming to the Switch!

And:

Banjo-Tooie
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Diddy Kong Racing
Goldeneye 007
Perfect Dark
Jetforce Gemini
Killer Instinct Gold
Blast Corps
Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon
Goemon's Great Adventure
Mischief Makers
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil
Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion
Space Station Silicon Valley
Rocket: Robot on Wheels
Bomberman 64: The Second Attack

Like come on! Give me amazing N64 games that are not Nintendo games Nintendo. Is there any other classics I'm missing from the list?
I never played the Goemon games. Wait, how many of those are Rareware games? I thought I had them all...

The Duck Hunt fallacy is a weak crutch to discredit Banjo-kazooie's viability as a fighter. Aesthetics is the only thing closely resembling each other and even then it is just bird pecks. Anyone who knows even base knowledge of B-K and B-T know that there is way more to them than just that. Duck Hunt is an amalgamation of classic SNES with references to Hogens Ally, Clay pigeon shooting, and the zapper as a hidden 3rd fighter. Banjo-kazooie is the dynamic of a Bear using a large bird as a combination rifle, bayonet, drill, hammer, transport and best friend.

https://youtu.be/QLWLdO9GLWM

Looking at the Nuts and Bolts trailer is the best counter-argument to the Duck Hunt fallacy because in the trailer, Banjo creativity uses Kazooie as a lock pick, and then a CHAINSAW! Those moves aren't even in the games and yet it showcases the creative potential Sakurai can use to make them a unique and viable fighter.

The other best way to shut down the Duck Hunt Fallacy is to point out fighters that have similar moves and ask why they are allowed. Ask why is Ganon and Incineroar allowed when Bowser has a side b command grab? Mention why is Chrom allowed when he has moves from all the current Fire Emblems in the roster.

Not to throw shade at others who thought this, I just find it funny how trolls use that Strawman to try and justify keeping Banjo out. Plus my sides will be in orbit if our theory of Duck-Hunt's model as a base for Banjo-kazooie is confirmed.

That I know in itself is a Konami game, heh.

Oh, yeah, I remember most of those. I own most of them too. Rocket, Silicon Valley, among that entire list, I never owned a copy of(as well as the Goemon games). Most I remember about the company who made Mischief Makers(or at least published it or something) also was involved in Flying Dragon, one of my favorite Fighting Games(with rpg elements).

Thr only thing that makes sense for Banjo-Kazooie that they can borrow from Duck Hunt is the same rapid Jab as Kazooie pecks by holding the A button and directional aerial beak pecks.

Other than that they would play nothing a like, Banjo uses Kazooie as Swiss army knife such as a melee weapon for pecks, drills and slams, egg ammunition and his backpack for certain attacks.

I'm remaining optimistically skeptical. I truly want them to finally be announced and reunited with their Nintendo family, but I've been hurt in the past one time too many to be as hyped as the rest of you. For now at least. If they get announced, you can be damn sure I'll be yelling my lungs out of sheer joy over them finally making it into Super Smash Bros. in a game featuring the likes of Mario, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Link, Kirby, Pikachu, Duck Hunt, Solid Snake, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Ryu, Cloud Strife, Bayonetta, Simon Belmont, and Joker from freaking Persona.
That's the way I feel now too. I was cautiously optimistic on K. Rool's chances before he was konfirmed and I feel the same way for Banjo & Kazooie. Their return to Nintendo is long overdue.

I can just say for the record that I still hold out undying hope for Geno and Shantae to make it in soon, but Banjo is within my top 3 and I really hope we get back our bear and bird duo in the best way. Ever since melee my big bro wanted Banjo so I hope the bear and the bird can avenge my fallen request being Isaac who i thought was practically open due to being owned by nintendo and all that evidence we had for him back then. I hope you can avenge us Isaac fans guys! He may be an assist trophy, but I ain't giving up on him until dlc is all said and done.

Seriously. This. People who have grown up with Rare or even just recently fell in love with their games are all in the same general community when it comes to character support in Smash. I feel like the love between Conker, Banjo, Krystal, Dixie, and Battletoads support groups is all mutual here on smashboards and a win for one of us, feels like a win for us all!

I think that love also extends to Isaac fans too. It's been a long ride and Isaac, Geno, and Banjo fans and we are all in the same struggle. It's exciting to see cross support between fan groups and hopefully we'll all get our favorites in sooner rather than later!

Yessss! So many games!

I never played Turok myself, but this list really reminds me of how many amzing games the N64 had. I literally forgot about Silicon Valley, but that game was legit. Or at least I remember it being great. lol Also i had no idea that Goemon had 2 games for 64? I only ever had Mystical Ninja, but I adored that game. Definitely something to look into.

Personally I'd add Ogre Battle 64, Snowboard Kids (1 & 2), Harvest Moon 64 (still the best Harvest Moon), Bomberman 64 (the first one), Gauntlet Legends, Vigilante 8. Also I never played them but were the Castlevania games for the N64 good?

Agreed. I don't honestly remember a lot of the stuff you said... bar Frogger, Castlevania, and Metal Gear. Most of the stuff I know from Konami is already referenced in Yu-Gi-Oh or is literally unique Yu-Gi-Oh stuff.

It's too bad too. It wouldn't been great to fight a team that had Frogger as a Spirit and Big The Cat as a Spirit. In fact, I remember reading Incineroar can have Big as a Spirit and has the Purple Alt too. No clue if the alt was actually a reference to Big or a coincidence, but that's still a pretty cool battle. Though thinking about it, who would be a good person for Frogger to be equipped to if that overall Spirit Battle was added on to?

(That is so harddddd to explain in less words).
Not really relevant to arcades specifically, but the one series that I wish would come back from Konami that no one talks about is Suikoden. I want it so baaaad.

The first Castlevania is... okay. The second game was cited as a major improvement.

I'll always recommend Quest 64, though. >.>

And yeah, the 64 has a ton of franchises, as well as many 64-only series. Like Fighter's Destiny.

Hey man I played and enjoyed Quest 64 as a kid. It was great. Simple, had stuff to find (I love me some collectathon elements. Weird given the thread I know), challenging but nothing some grinding couldn't take care of, not too long, and best of all no RPG competition on the system. lol I think we've talked about it before, but yeah I mostly played it as a kid because i wanted an RPG to play. I can't actually say I think the game is good, but I had fun with it and given that, nostalgia is a heck of a drug. I do think there is something there though that could definitely work if refined into a more well designed game.

Also I edited my previous post and quoted you to avoid double posting. Not sure if you saw that or not.

I saw it. Will reply to that bit in a sec.

I honestly view it as a mediocre game in quality, but full of charm. Likewise, I do have the Brian support thread in my sig as well as a topic to talk about Quest 64 if it interests you.

I never played it, but I did use one character's design to help remake Deviot from the Power Rangers series in sprite format.

Yeah I've actually posted in it before. I don't really have a ton more to say about it though tbh. Was a cute game for what it was. Sorta the problem with these threads about series that aren't really alive anymore. It's very easy to exhaust the talking points. Especially for something like Quest that also doesn't have a huge fanbase.

Also I don't think you have a sig right now?

Sigs only appear on the first post of a page. And fair enough. I actually did look into more information on the series' references(like Mammon's World probably being based upon the Book of Revelation. It may be also why the Eletale Book exists too. Though I can't remember an evil book among the pages of the Bible in itself, so eh).

That's right. We all gotta stick together when it comes to Rare.

You know now that I think about it, I don't really think I ever delve into how I feel about the Banjo games. Although I'm not the biggest fan of the Banjo games, I still love the character and overall atmosphere the games takes place in. There's a lot of music tracks I can think of off the top of my head from those games that would be pretty awesome to see smashified. For me personally, my favorite memories from Banjo-Kazooie are finding the Jinjos on each level. I don't know why but I love when they shout "JINJO" as you collect them. Also, I love the fact that Banjo's moveset becomes more and more fleshed out as the game progresses. With Banjo-Tooie, I only played the beginning! I have to play through that game as soon as I can, but from what I can tell it looks just as good as the first. It sure plays a lot like the first. Are there a lot of major differences between Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie aside from levels?

Conker's part of my holy trinity, I would adore him being in Smash. His inclusion would honestly rival Banjo's, but I just don't think it's very likely :/ If Banjo got in, then there'd probably be a slightly bigger push for Conker though (like Dixie after K. Rool).

I feel like once Banjo is in, Conker will have his foot in the door. As unlikely as the idea is, I still think there's a possibility that Conker could come with Banjo, even if there's a .1% chance of that happening.

Tough question for everyone.

If you were allowed to only choose one of the two, Which would you rather have?

Rare Replay on the Nintendo Switch with Donkey Kong Country Trilogy, DK 64, Diddy Kong Racing and Star Fox Adventures.

Or

Nintendo 64 Classic Edition with Most of Rare's N64 Library with Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Diddy Kong Racing, Conker's Bad Fur Day and Perfect Dark.
Rare Replay of course. Portaility is a huge plus and I don't have to play on a N64 controller.

I think if Banjo got in, a lot of his fans would throw their support either behind Dixie or Conker. Though if we got a 2nd Rareware rep, he'd have to contend with Joanna and Battletoads too.

I know I for one would throw my full support behind our favorite squirrel though!

I thought Flying Dragon was by Culture Brain, though? Mischief Makers was by Treasure.

I think if Banjo got in, a lot of his fans would throw their support either behind Dixie or Conker. Though if we got a 2nd Rareware rep, he'd have to contend with Joanna and Battletoads too.

I know I for one would throw my full support behind our favorite squirrel though!
That right there is a given. Only issue is that B-K still needs to get in for that to happen, of course.

Not really relevant to arcades specifically, but the one series that I wish would come back from Konami that no one talks about is Suikoden. I want it so baaaad.
DID WE JUST BECOME BEST FRIENDS?! I would LOVE Snowboard Kids 1 & 2 to the Switch!!!
