Personally, I would prefer this one over the other one very much.
i also prefer this voice over all of the others though i do like his tv show voice aswell it jjust fits so well,i also like his original grunt/ugh noise from dkc 1.

also something is off about the voice in that video....ingame his voice sounds slightly deeper,more echoey and i think slightly slower(the video is also missing his echoe laugh when the boss door closes/you run out of range fro being an animal buddy),it would also be cool if we could find the sfx for when he talks like when he says that "donkey kong island will be no more"

i feel like his paon voice would not fit at all with his original design but that just my opinion.

I grew up with DK 64, but I'm not a big fan of that incarnation's voice. I think AustarusIV's suggestion would be best, though maybe with a few edits.

I think you could theoretically make a good pack from DK64 sounds or the IRL crocodile...the only problem with the latter might be deciding what clips go where. Like, DK64 K. Rool has very clear 'attacking,' 'injured' and 'taunting' sounds, while the crocodile mostly has nondescript hisses and growls. What distinguishes an attacking hiss/growl from a Star KO one, for instance?

In any case, DK and Diddy do have plenty of cartoon voice mods, so if the DK64 voice were used, there wouldn't be much disparity.

Honestly, I think K. Rool should use real life Crocodilian growls and hissing as sound effects. In the Smash series, DK and Diddy forego using their cartoony voice actors from the games (Takashi Nagasako and Katsumi Suzuki) in favor of real life ape sound effects. To potentially use K. Rool's voice actor from some obscure cartoon in the '90s is, not gonna lie, a very ridiculous idea. I didn't grew up with that cartoon, so I have no connection to it. But I do enjoy the DKC games and K. Rool's voice there, so if you ask me go for either that or crocodilian sounds like in this video here.

That's what i want to do. Multiple voice packs. That way, you can just chose what sounds better for you.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. Hopefully Bagan or someone can simply edit/alter the video's voice clips to something that is close to the actual in-game sounds.

Also, DK64 K.Rool's sound clips were reused for the Gameboy Advance ports of the first 3 DKC games. Maybe someone could rip the voice from the ports instead, if they don't sound low quality that is.

i really appreaceate all the work you and others are putting into these characters,i am looking forward to k.rool the most which is why i draw him the most but i have not forgotten about the gift ridley you have given us so here is my newest ridley fanart and the second ridley art i have every done(the first is in my profile pic)

I personally like the realistic crocodilian sounds myself. It feels like it would fit better into brawl.

Depends on how much free time i'll have in the future. I'm not sure about that anymore.

He needs around 20 animations and few other things, but he's been in that state for months.
so whats been re-done with k.rool, is his model fixed?
His model is not fixed yet and because of it, nothing else was re-done. I really want to go back to him, but can't do that until model is rigged and it's been 2 months since i heard of any progress on it.

We're getting pretty close to that. It needs adjustments right now.

It still is going to take a while. I have to deal with university stuff now.
good to hear,and remember that life comes first k.rool and the rest can wait...we have waited for over a decade so whats the harm in waiting a little longer,make sure that you get you life in order first.

speaking of k.rool i have been seeing alot of smash 4 skin mods like impa,mr krabs,hyrule warriors ganondorf,etc i wonder if someone would make a k.rool mod for smash 4 over bowser,dk,or dedede(i think bowser would probably fit the best) either using a custom model or the paon model already in smash.

But there are good news. K. Rool's model is done. It still has few things that need to be fixed, but it's nothing really important. He is much better now thanks to jaystring.

It's completely incompatible with old animations, but now you can rig someone else over his skeleton without having to worry about his eyes since they no longer use bones for animations.

its looking really good,glad to see k.rool is making some progress again.

and that would make a good csp,speaking of csp's have you ever tried posing k.rool like king kut out to see how it would look...im sure the claws on your k.rool would fit.

So, I've been playing around in Audacity, and I found a way to lower the pitch and add an echo effect in that one K. Rool sound effects video from DK64 so it sounds way more like him in-game. Just so long as I can get rid of this annoying popping sound that happens at the end of some of the effects, I should have a good number of possible attack sounds up soon. Those, mixed in with his DKC "HONK" and some generic slash/punch noises, should fill in most if not all of his sounds.

Okay, so this is what I started with:

I think it sounds way more like him in his actual 64 fight. What do you guys think?

In terms of going through the sounds and seeing which fits where, my suggestions would be:

Sound #1 (0:01-0:03) - YEEEAH, THANK YOU!!! Taunt, obviously. Outside chance of victory pose.
Sound #2 (0:04) - When he's hit by a strong attack, maybe a KO cry.
Sound #3 (0:06-0:09) - Wouldn't use this one...there's no in-game situation here where he'd be muffled like that.
Sound #4 (0:09) - An attack sound...maybe when he's using F-Tilt or throwing his crown.
Sound #5 (0:10) - Attack sound.
Sound #6 (0:12) - This would sound good on a ledge attack or a get-up attack.
Sound #7 (0:14) - Something blundering, maybe when he trips?
Sound #8 (0:16) - Not sure, but it sounds humorous.
Sound #9 (0:17-0:18) - When he gets attacked, maybe KOed (this is played when Tiny attacks his feet).
Sound #10 (0:19-0:20) - COME ONNN! An attack where he's charging or firing something, maybe a taunt.
Sound #11 (0:21) - Could be either an attack or a hurt sound.
Sound #12 (0:22) - Sounds shocked...either hurt, KO, or comical sound.
Sound #13 (0:23-0:24) - WOOOAH! Another versatile sound, could be used most anywhere.
Sound #14 (0:26) - Attack, probably a quick one.
Sound #15 (0:27-0:29) - *exhausted* Come onnnnn...One of my favorites as a KO sound.
Sound #16 (0:30-0:31) - A dizzy noise, for when his shield breaks.
Sound #17 (0:32-0:33) - Could work when he grabs a foe, or maybe a get-up/ledge attack.
Sound #18 (0:33-0:35) - An excellent dizzy noise (from when he bruises his arse stomping in-game).
Sounds #19 and #20 (0:36-0:39) - He uses these when ground-pounding in-game. Together, they could be used for that attack (D-Air), or separately, for him jumping and using some strong attack, respectively.
Sound #21 (0:39-0:40) - Attack sound.
Sound #22 (0:41-0:42) - Another attack sound.
Sound #23 (0:43-0:44) - Same as above.
Sound #24 (0:45-0:46) - An angry bellow, perfect for any sort of rushing or charging attack.
Sound #25 (0:47-0:48) - Aggravated Star KO yell.
Sound #26 (0:48-0:49) - Short, gruff sound for an attack (or charging a Smash).
Sound #27 (0:49-0:51) - Evil Game Over laugh...taunt or victory pose for sure.

Okay, so this is what I started with:


And these are the sounds I ultimately came up with from lowering the pitch and adding an echo effect.


I think it sounds way more like him in his actual 64 fight. What do you guys think?

In terms of going through the sounds and seeing which fits where, my suggestions would be:

Sound #1 (0:01-0:03) - Taunt, obviously. Outside chance of victory pose.
Sound #2 (0:04) - When he's hit by a strong attack, maybe a KO cry.
Sound #3 (0:06-0:09) - Wouldn't use this one...there's no in-game situation here where he'd be muffled like that.
Sound #4 (0:09) - An attack sound...maybe when he's using F-Tilt or throwing his crown.

great job! definetaly sounds alot closer to what he did in dk 64 compared to the original video(also the last few voice clips on the original video were used in the gba ports of dkc i think)

Nice Job Kupa. Many of these are perfect for use as sound effects. They even fit the model since Bagan's K. Rool is more based off of the Rare design.

No. Still in same state as before.


But there are good news. K. Rool's model is done. It still has few things that need to be fixed, but it's nothing really important. He is much better now thanks to jaystring.

It's completely incompatible with old animations, but now you can rig someone else over his skeleton without having to worry about his eyes since they no longer use bones for animations.
Ah a Rig fit for a king!

Added grab attack and Massacre Lotus or whatever its called (taken from...someone who should not be mentioned) as Down Throw to Metal Face.

Unlike original attack, it doesn't instantly kills for obvious reasons. Instead, it deals high damage (17%), but its also very slow and knockback growth isn't high. He either laughs or uses one of randomly chosen lines during this throw.
Note: framerate on the .gif is 20fps. And mii post image in the background was not intentional.

So, in terms of crowd chants for K. Rool, I can think of two possibilities:

--Take a bunch of Kremling noises from the DKC games or DK64, mix them together and create a sort of group cheer, kind of like what Ridley has now with the Space Pirates

--There's a clip from the DKC cartoon where K. Rool runs for office, and all of the Kongs are somehow supporting him and chanting "K. Rool for future ruler! K. Rool for future ruler!"

Either would work fine, they'd just take a little bit of work to put together. Strangely enough, the obvious situation where he's in front of a crowd in DK64 doesn't have anything really usable, just generic crowd noises.
