Azen's anti-SHL strategies

Among pro Marths, it seems like Azen is one of the best at beating SHL spammers. I've noticed some of his strategies, and one stuck out in particular. Basically, he just short hops a nair towards Falco and immediately after getting hit by a laser, does a fair to swat him away. So I'm assuming he's already tilting forward A just as he gets hit by the laser, which turns into a fair right after getting shot. I think this is pure genius, but I'd like to know if anyone else has found it to be a successful strategy against SHL spammers.

Yeah it's good, doing a quick jab, ftilt, grab or whatever can be good too. Check SDM's frame data, anything less than about 20 frames or so has a good chance to hit in between lasers, obviously the shorter the better, but if Falco follows up with a Nair it will out prioritize your smack no matter what you do due to Marth's forward lean.

I'll also note that only PC has beaten Ken with Falco, so he's a good watch as well.

Azen has like...NO anti-Falco game at all.

I mean..having seen the man play IRL several times...and actually conversing with him.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaah.

He beats Falco's with his massive experience points. Not his anti-SHL skills. He uses the basic stuff to deal with Falco, like full jumps over lasers and rolling. He just knows when to do it. He also tries risky stuff like attacking in-between lasers ala that thing you mentioned, SH nair then take the hit and swat with fair.

But that stuff isn't reliable. That stuff is shenanigans and dangerous. Don't fall back on stuff like that.

Don't try to imitate Azen. His playing isn't reproducible unless you have 6 years of melee behind you.
Actually, on Friday I watched a video where Azen just runs past Ken and Fsmashes like 5 times, catching Ken in his attempt to DD away. I did this vs PC and Chu a few times on Saturday, and it worked like 60% of the time, and I've only been playing for a year, not 6. :)

Btw I lost the matches vs them horribly LOL

i can barely remember what ken's marth plays like:\

but ya, i honestly have never been able to figure out why azen's style works...honestly i've seen a few people who play sorta similar in style to him..but whenever i try i just get *****..

I can't really figure out what makes Azen's style so good either. I think it's just a combination of insanely good DI and mixing up spacing/timing, like manipulating Marth's falling speed with side B, interchanging fair with neutral B, wavesmashing, etc.
