i'll keep my eyes open for good smashers at knox super challenge! :D
sunday is gonna be fun, and there should be many more people than usual too!

Don't you all reckon that melee is getting a bit old now? Hardly any of Smashboards is to do with melee anymore. Melee was a good 2D fighter when the cube was launched, but that was 2 years ago.

I would play title matches for every character cos it would be fun, but i don't want to go out of my way just to hog other people's glory... not saying that i would be able to beat half of everyone's mains but im sure ryan doesn't have much experience versing yoshi :D.

I will of course, fight for the title of best peach.

Melbourne Crew: you better be practicing for when we come over, there will be some awesome fighting happening between perth and melbourne, I can't wait.

QLD people, if you can make it to melbourne when we are there, make the effort to come because it is definitely worth it, just ask the melbourne crew.

By the way 220man, as long as its fun and competitive with decent graphics, it doesn't really matter to me how old it is

At Evolution 2004 and in the future there will still be Street Fighter 2 Turbo competitions that recieve the serious attention it did whenever Evo started. Decent graphics don't even come into this.

Counter Strike is played as an international sport today despite it's humble begins as a mod thats roots belong to the Quake 2 section.

I could rave forever, but I'll stop there.

Shaz: I will not miss the tourny for anything. If REALLY hope I can get regular practise with you guys though. I'm sorry for pulling out last sec the other day and I know I've been a complete pain about this, but it's necessary if I actually want to play in this tourny. If not, then all is not lost... the competition itself is enough to want to go and see it.

I just freed up next Tuesday if you wanna give it another go. I'm considering learning new characters since I have some bad habits (like the rolling, for instance) that I need to get out of with the ones I use, and also to revive my interest in the game (interest practising more than competiting, playing the computer even for the shortest times is beginning to bore me).
Anyway... travel shouldn't be too much of an issue since I'm a bit happier with my financial state at the moment, which is good.

Hey all!
As you all know we went in a tourny yesterday....we clean swept it, so the guys who ran it were stoked.
It was **** fun, and we've got another person to play with now, I'll get him to post in this thread...his username is oats (real name Joseph) he plays Fox btw, and not badly either.
Emily beat me in a sudden death! LOL! **** sudden deaths. This ended up being a cool as experience, so yeah, it was cool.
So yeah, I'll pm Joseph and tell him to post here.

It's 3D btw. You are often limited to walk on an x-y but there is a z also...check if you like. Anyway, tell that to the players of games like StarCraft....and as mentioned CS etc. The only thing a truly good game fears is an even better sequel.

I think we're doing work performace on Tuesday .....though perhaps if your willing to make it tuesday arvo then it could be cool.

Dont worry bout earlier Shaz, we know whats what. Thanks for the msg however. No-one believe him! He died to reflector in a cheap *** tournament! HAHAHAA! Joking, but it was funny anyway. ^^ Yeah, the Moonee Ponds thing went well Em took 1st, I took 2nd and Shaz claimed 3rd prize, so together we collected all major prizes valued at over $230 I think. Not bad for an $8 entry fee each

There are some Smashers who still play the original SSB, and make vids too.

I'm pretty sure people will keep playing SSBM for a long time. At least until the inevitable sequel comes out.

argg in that super challenge thing i only got a 2nd for melee, and just cause i was off by 1 point. too many little kids just constantly walking into links up B and dying and giving him points ><

then to top it off, we were doing time trials on waluigi stadium in MKDD and i had held the record for the entire day, and no matter how Rachel McQueenie tried she couldn't beat it... but then just before they finished she had the final turn and beat it by 0.02 of a second and got the gameboy.
she was acting all high and mighty but:
1. She had to swallow her pride and use the kart i was using to beat the score
2. OMG 0.02!!!
but still it was sad that i didnt do better

yeah the Karts were all ****e! I couldn't handle even trying coz the control was ****E! it had a d-stick that DIDNT respond for **** to being smashed hence no mini-turbo for me.....+ it was always sweaty :S, as were the smash wavebirds! The MK control was shiny and smooth from too much use or something and it felt whack lol.
I was thinking of offering for this group of guys who called themselves 'Nintendowned' to come get ***** at my place in 1v1's but Emily had already saved me the trouble by defeating there best badly (she inf. shine against wall in Onett!) lol....so that took care of that before anything even happened.

Hmm...toal prize worth at Moonee Pons between all of us was...325ish bucks. That jumper was a whopping 100 bucks worth according to the price! :S

Oats, let's get together to smash sometime ehh? Perhaps CATS and Zan would join in?

Well we entered the SSBM segment of the Super Challenge today, and...it was pretty ho hum No offense to Nintendo, well actually yeah, offense intended. Those settings are bull****! I mean, we all got 1st's (took Shaz 2 tries), but what the **** good is that when you have to try so hard against such noob, spamming, ****ed up odds?! Oh well.

I didnt try after I won the first time, just tried to Daddy Falcon people with CF and Ganon. (Round 3 was a bonus round, no points were attributed)


Me: 1st, equal 3rd, equal 3rd
Shaz: 2nd?, 1st, 2nd?
Em: 1st, equal 3rd, equal 3rd
Cella: 1st, 1st, 1st.

Lol, Cella's the only one who tried in all her matches. Personally, I could care less since I already came 1st. Just stuffed around trying to out-bulge people and stuff. Did too, but sooo many Roy Dragon Slayers flying around. The one things that rocks noobs harder than pros do...... = other noobs. They are such d1cks ^^

Oh well, F-Zero next fortnight. Another 25 points for Jon! YEHS! Em and Shaz too ^^

*edit* sorry oats, didnt see your post there. WP is basically a practical test covering what me and Shaz have learned at tafe so far. Special days, where we have to come to school. Kinda like a mini exam or test you could say.

We go to Fountain Gate. Very local for us. Sunshine is really far from where we are. Pity you missed out. I dont like your chances if you chose Fox anyway :/, coz Shaz went Fox in round one and came only 2nd. Roy and Samus and a couple others are much cheaper on 1.5 dmg. And Blademarth, how keen are you for smashage, i could fly down whenever but im definatly comming to the gold coast in january for the big day out, so we should get a Tournamentus occouring for then. In january i will be able to bring upto 10 decent players.

however, thats not a for a few months so if you would enjoy some **** let us know when would be good for you and if you know many people who would be interested. also we should get the smash community is QLD cranking, there are smashers around. all they need is a leader!

Probably not...we'll play though. You'll likely be up for some tough competition in F0 and MK though, so don't think your winning is a given.

Secondly, I know Melee is actually 3D but it doesn't boast awesome 3D graphics as a part of every battle. All I'm sayin is that this thread is sooo gunna die soon cause no one likes melee anymore.

Ok, i believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but if you think that melee is a bad game, why are you still posting in a thread mainly focused on melee? And this thread will be around for a lot longer, we already have the February tournament in the works and many more after that. I was in Townsville recently on a music tour. I owned my cousin in Halo, where about's in T-ville do u live? I've probably been there a few times.

Firstly, siggies and advertisement banners/pop ups are two different things. Most people surf the forums advertisement free? I don't see that many premium members around.

Secondly, you should read the previous posts before saying "no ones likes melee anymore". This thread won't die as long as there are Australian Smashers.

And i live in Annandale but im moving out of home soon so im not sure where i'll be living soon.

plus i think the number of people comming down to melbourne has, sort of doubled, so there may be 6 or 7 players who are interested

i mean the 2 things my friends enjoy the most in life is Smash Bros and Music (and intoxication but thats a different ball game) so whenever the BDO in melbourne is on we'll be there, tho i plan on staying for longer than a few days just to check melbourne out. never been there.

I vsed beasleej yesterday, and I found a small smash community based in UWA's University Computer Club. It was lots of fun. I pulled my Marth out first round, and they were all saying 'He's got a really good Marth, but at least he's not wavedashing...'

'Oh, I'm not wavedashing. You're right.'

'OMG!!! He's wavedashing!'

Anyways, I said I'd post about the FTS2 tournament coming up on Saturday for the UCC people, so... yeah. It's on saturday, and the majority of smashers there can wavedash If you want to come, PM me or Quetzalcoatl (it's at his house) and we'll see what we can do.

If you have a look at the other threads in this forum 220man, you'll notice there's a LOT of people still playing smash very competitively.

Shall we still bring a second cube? Cos Tim and Chris got a little bored last time watching the matches, because they got knocked out relatively early. And if any of beasleej's crew decides they want to come, we may need it. Anyway, it's just a suggestion, and I'm happy either way.

That wouldn't be because I BEAT YOUR YOSHI? Ahhh....I'll remember it for ever and ever....But the other guys,, (despite not wavedashing, not that I care) were quite good, although we did just do Melee matches....

To clarify a few things:
-SSBM doesn't classify as either a 2D or 3D fighter in the traditional sence. It lacks some of the properties of both.
-In a graphical sence (I think this is what you mean). It is 3D, but plays on a 2D axis. Boasting 3D gameplay would be the ruin of Smash. I mean would you really want smash to play like Naruto or anyother fighters of that style?
-You don't really have a good grip on why people would want to keep playing the game, so why are you here? You obviously don't have any competitive spirit, or any interest in promoting social play.

At competition level, the age of a game doesn't mean squat. The sooner you realise that, the sooner you realise that you cannot convince us that you are right and that there are better things you could be doing with your time.

Okay your right, you're all right. I did origionally know that melee was a good game. I'm just pissed off cause i'm friends with sean and now hes trying to act all cool.

I watched some of the vids from april, everyone played pretty craply back then. I've definitely improved a lot.
I also saw the vids of the texan and melbourne crew. All played excellently. The fox vs fox matches were very exciting and well played. Made me want to go to melbourne and smash.

And also brendan, if u want melee to be 3d, then it would just be like many other fightin ggames like SC2. I think that its melee 2D-like fighting style that makes it so unique and fun...

anyway, enough arguement...us aussies should stick together....
