The current rankings list has too many tiers imo. I tried to group characters into tiers such that thier individual value does not stray too far from the mean of all characters in a tier. It works well for high - low tier but gets messed up near bottom since the numbers are so small. I just dont think all the splitting in low tiers was neccesary when thier points are all so close together

I don't think I'm alone in saying these boards are f'ed up. Considering from what I can tell all the Backroom applicants from Australia were overlooked despite the need for some aussie representation in there, the many tourneys we've run and the flog-loads of years some of us have used these flippin' forums I think we deserve a little respect.

I dont see what youre quite getting at? You are definitely not alone, I cant be fked giving opinions anymore in matchup threads coz people ignore what i say when they see Location, Australia and just deem all my experience is vs scrubs. however what would you suggest Mic actually do?

Mic's a winnah, he can do anything. I'd have prayed to Jesus but Mic has more swing in these kinds of things.
As for going overseas and performing well, it's been done - and it fails on the whole - generally written off as fluke, the opponent supposedly sandbagging or the opponents 'inability to cope with noobs'. There's no winning unless you live there some time or are a girl.

but was any character in melee ever as dominant as MK in australia? I mean I know these rankings are skewed horribly by the fact that many of the best players bust him out in the finals so his CP-to-everyone nature means he steals a ton of points, but he still does have a lot of 1st placings. I know how marth dominated the US tournaments to the point it was questionable why he was never #1 in the tier list, I thought maybe australia would have had more diversity to begin with. it looks like MK is slowly but surely becoming as dominant here than in the US, and its only going to become more exaggerated in time

I'd say a lot of MK users are simply using him because he is top tier. In melee, the tier list took over a year for the first list to be made. If brawl had the same thing done to it (i.e. there would be no list as of yet) then a lot less people would be playing MK. that's just IMO. I could be wrong. . . .(quite easily =P)

^ While that may be true, you need to remember that Melee didn't recieve the same amount of publicity that Brawl did on release, especially in terms of competitive play. That's probably why the tier's took longer for Melee.
Unless I'm mistaken, Fox was technically the best character in Melee. That's what I recall from past discussions of the game.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Since melee took longer to develop, lots of people decided on their mains before any of the competitive stuff was released. Which is the opposite for brawl. Lots of people were able to view the competitive data, before deciding on their mains. So naturally, this means a massive boost to the number of MK players.

His dominance in Australia at one point was something close to 50% of all points. His ratio as a whole, has been going down since.
Lest we forget that STILL almost half the points of the main list comes from QBB, or atleast almost most of metaknights points did.
Sentiment in Sydney is pretty silly. People are against the character Metaknight being played, to the point of it being a taboo. Over all, metaknight usages on the east coast has been going down as many more people became more comfortable with their mains while fighting the metaknight mains (or other matchups), etc etc.
