1.8 gig huh, that is rather a large amount. The usual size for a match is around 10MB on most of the sites ive been to. Good luck.
You still havent answered my previous question yet jon. Can you edit all of the good matches on to one tape and send it to MarthMasterMD? The whole documentary thing is huge and it would be great if we could be on there as well.

...current size of 1.8 Gig...
Whoa... I know people who have smaller hard drives than that...

Maybe if you contact some of the people who have already put vids on the net... They might be able to give you some pointers as to how to change it and not lose quality.

The 1.8 gig size is due to total uncompression. The file is absolutely taken directly, as it is seen on tv, with slightly less frames. I was doing it that way because the other more efficient option is to compress as it goes, leaving you with a supposedly much smaller file. It would seem. I cant really do that on my pc because its an old dunger of a 333mhz. Cant cope with more than one thing at a time. Comp --> Play video and compress too? BAH!*does splits* Reboots.

So yeah its a gay ***. About MarthmasterD or whatever hes called, he's not high on my priority list. Before I give him a third thought, I'm getting these vids to my own bloody pc first. A tape of the highlights would be good, but as with MMD, its low on priority atm. Priority list usually looks like this:

Gaming
Peach's up smash
Food
Sleep
Toilet
more Food
more Gaming
Food whilst Gaming

With little variation, the PC shenanigans are rated low. Not to say that I dont get around to tinkering with it, its just that thats all I do. And it seems like people expect me to do backflips about all this stuff. Its really quite lengthy and tiresome after long. So hold your horses basically. Bah, thats all for now.

Bio's still owing:
Mic - None
Ryan - Fruity Evil
Mat - All
Josh - All
Shaz - All
Em - Evil
Cela - All
Glenn - Evil
James - All
Kenton - All
Bryce - All

mat, our tapes are pal version, they have ntsc vcrs...

Next tourney will be on the foundation day weekend on the Saturday. We should have mic, ryan, glenn, james, kenton, mat, bryce and myself, hopefully ryan's neighbour can come, and i also know a few people who might be interested. And we need a name for these tourneys...

How did you guys tape it? I've tried taping the PAL version and it only works if I run it at 50hz instead of 60hz. At 60hz there's no sound and the picture is black and white and slightly distorted if I tape. Did you guys play at 50hz or did you find a way to tape 60hz without it messing up? I can record 60hz with a camera or by capturing it straight to my PC without a VCR inbetween though.

As for compression, I usually use divx. I can get 5 minute vids of decent quality of about 15 megs usually. I don't know if a 333mhz CPU would be fast enough to compress it though, especially if you also have very little memory. Maybe you could send the tapes to someone else who can compress them?

How about...Aussie assaults? And then the international ones are invations? Goto go, tafe started 2 mins ago! *runs*

EDIT: Boooring. Quetza, kupo, ect. The guys who stuffed your cpu's have been nicked. They're little pommie nobodies who got arrested on the weekend. And Kupo, have you had a chance to look at those SC maps yet?

MrSilver, we just taped them on 50Hz. It was quite simple but that was probably due to my amazing technology skills. I set up the VCR, tuned it in to the T.V. and taped the matches. It wasnt that hard. Try running your cube on 50Hz.

Okay, now for an important announcement: It is official that i am coming to Melbourne. If things run smoothly hopefully we can meet up again. Here are the dates and stuff:

Friday 9th of July: I arrive at 6:30am in Melbourne
Catch up on some sleep after the fight
Have lunch in St. Kilda
We visit the Shrine of Rememberance
After that we have free time
Football at the MCG/Docklands

Saturday 10th: Breakfast at Queen Victoria Market
Tour of Melbourne CBD/ City Circle Tram
Federation Square
More free time
Dinner at lygon Street
Crown Casino

Sunday 11th: We leave for the Snow Fields.

Now the most important parts are the free time. The only problem is that we are supposed to stay in groups of 3, however there may be a way around that. Assuming that we can meet up again, would it be possilbe for you to come and pick me up from where ever it is we are staying and meet the teachers? If you could and you act all presentable, I may be able to go with you guys and smash it up. This is all assuming that you can pick me up and drop me off etc. If not it will be a real shame, i would be great to see you all again. I aill have more specific times and places later on but could you guys pick me up?

lol, Mat, great timing before Shaz starts his apprentice-ship course ^^. Anyhow, to be able to meet up, we'll either go all the way to the city by transport and catch a train back and go to Shaz' place. Or Jon can pick you up at the desired location not too far. In other words, you have to come "here" ^^;.

But seeing you're schedule, it seems pretty tight. It takes at least 30mins to get to any of our places [Public Transport].

Heh, I don't know, obviously I can't confirm anything but make assumptions = P.

Good point.

Aussie assaults
Nah, sounds too contrived. We aren't godlike smashers. Its false, misleading. What have you. Something simpler would do. I have no idea what, but it wouldn't be hard. Something generic perhaps? I dunno.

and you act all presentable
What are you trying to say? We arent classy enough as it is? Bah. How much exactly does the term 'free time' mean? Hours, or lots of hours?

15 megs is still a large download. Still, most matches are around or below the 5 minute mark, so I guess its a reasonable size. My memory size is no issue, I think... I got 247 megabytes of ram. But yeah the processor is bleh. I'm not too keen on entrusting the tapes to just anyone. I can do it from here, I'll just need some help from my dad and brother. They're very computer literate. I just like games. I dunno, to be honest, the tournament was the main thing, this is just a bonus. If things take a while then theres no point stressing. The point is that it happened to begin with. I'll try to look into 'divx' and such, but not now. I really honestly cant be buggered.

Okay, so you guys live 30 minutes away from the city. Unless Jon can pick me up i am going to have to catch a train, bus etc to get to your place. Oh goody. Im afraid that the only way i will be able to go to your place by myself is for one of you to come and pick me up.

By free time they mean hours, Probably 3 or 4 hours. And as for your behaviour, i wont be able to go if you turn up spouting Captain Falcon and Dr. Mario impersonations. My teachers may think your just a bit weird.

Uh huh, so what your saying is that i have to catch a bus to your house? What?

If you cant pick me up thats fine. Its just that it isnt a common occurence that i will be in melbourne any time soon.

Obviously you haven't seen the Nintendo DS.=P Anyways yeah, I had a look in the thread and when it comes out, I'm going to buy it straight away [Sm64, MK and Metroid? OMFG! :D].

Four hours of free time doesn't seem a lot. You'll only be able to like spend an hour or two at our places then travel back to the city.

But hey, we can all chill out in the city with ya.

You get here on the 9th. I'll ask for the car in advance, see what I can swing. No promises. About the alotted time, I agree with Em, the window is too small. Also, if I were to be trying to convince your teachers to let you come with us, I wouldn't be impresonating Falcon within a kilometre of them. Oobity, on the other hand... Nah jk ;)

I'm going to check the lighthouse now, but what is so exciting? Nintendo DS? What the heck? New system? Bah, I'm on my way. Oh yeah, and hanging around Melbourne would be a good idea, since I havent been there in a while myself..

Ooh, DS... bluetooth wireless... multiplayer wireless 3D metroid... mario 64 times 4... puuuuurrrrrty...

For the name of our little tournies, we could steal some of the names for the Smash Bros. Documentary, such as 'Power On, Mercy Off' or something to that effect.

Yeah, those Zelda pick look really impressive.

As for the name of the tourney, i was thinking along the lines of something short like one word. Frenzy, aggresive, Fury, attack, Madness, Frenzy etc.....

Bah! I'm no the type to get angry, but it would have been better to post the link (no pun intended) ;) instead of posting each and every one of the pics. Theres like 10 of them. My poor 56K LAN connection is only so robust. :p Anyway, what red blooded gamer hasnt already seen all these?

The Metroid ones are of far more interest to me. But then thats just me. I would link them also, but the Nintendo site isnt working correctly. So bleh.

Ah cha cha chaaa! Tis no problem mic my man. I was a tad grumpy at the time. Yes, that will suffice. Thanks for putting links anyway, you didnt have to do that. Oh well. I will give you all an update on the videos since you've all been so well behaved and not being pestering me for them. Progress is nil. I still havent done anything because I'm incredibly lazy. Thats right gamers! HAA HAA! I have the videos, $500 ransom for each and $1500 for the tourney tape! MUHAHAHAAA! Just kidding. I'll step up to the challenge sometime soon but I never think of it :)

Okey dokey, Jon has gone psyco on us, always a bad sign.

Insane huh Mic, Insane Tourney..... hmmmm..... it has potential, but the name should reflect the way we play in the tourney. Insane doesnt paint a pretty picture does it? The melbourne clan can have that name;)

Jon, you can have my bio the second the vids are up and running.

I dont respond well to blackmail. You'll give me those bios, or else I will cut you out of the end product altogether. I'll also edit out your nametag from all matches you participate in. Are we clear?

My mum and me went out today and it so happened that I went and bought a good quality brand new VCR. Now I dont have to make sure I can use our other one, I can go ahead and do whatever the bloody **** I want with this one, so I shall attempt some more capturing soon. Oh, I also got a new pair of slippers. They're nice and comfy. :)

Since there doesn't seem to be much action in here atm, I thought I might post something...

Well, me neighbour's getting better at smash. So is another of me friends. In fact, me neighbour's cousin has the game and is apparently getting alright too...

The W.A. smash community grows.

Hehe... I vs'd Mic at smash today. I think he needs more human competition. Glenn, James? If you're out there, you might have slightly less workload then me. You're our best bet, unless Brian starts playing.

Oh and one last, minor thing... My family's planning on going to Victoria at the end of yr hols. So prepare for the Western Invasion...

No, mic, you weren't that bad. I just think there's more to the game than tempting me to run into your smashes. :D However successful that might be, you might actually vs someone who can get around them.

And nevertheless, you want human competition and i'm trying to organise it subtly...

I can say that you're crap at smash Mic, but you can't go worse than my Falco lol. It's the WORST.
I've lost the power of no pants, but watch me unleash another at the next tourney.

Quez, ya better watch out. I'm gonna eat Peach. ^^

Cool... there are people in Australia who play smash.

I'm a huge fan of the game and recently only discovered this forum, and such techniques like wave dashing and such... so I kick arse amongst the people I know, and I would get womped amongst the people I want to play against... you guys.

What can I say... ahh... I'm heavily involved with an anime club at Latrobe Uni and try to organise as many gaming events as I can. If smash tourneys of any size happen in Melbourne I will try to attend and will be keeping an eye on this thread anyhow :)
